I instinctively always check an elevator's inspection placard when entering a new one. I know how safe they suppoesly are, but I still get slightly paranoid. It's reassuring to see it passed inspection and isn't more than at most a month or 2 overdue for a new inspection.

I did like 3 of them, found a 4th but it was one of the last ones and too hard at the time.

This was back on the actual NES, pre-internet access and GFAQS and such, though. I could probably beat it if I went back to it now w/ help, but...I really have no interest in doing so. It was a great game for its time, but after Link to the Past fundamentally perfected the 2D Zelda formula, it's just...rough...going back to LoZ. ALttP effectively "ruined" the first game for me, lol

By "PLA", I assume you mean "PLO", unless you think Palestine is inhabited by the Irish.

They were just standing/sitting there until he plowed into some of them. Only THEN did they start banging on his vehicle.

Epstein was facing spending the rest of his time in prison, was sent to a jail that is notorious for being dangerous and underfunded, and had attempted suicide once already. No, it shouldn't have happened, but nothing that's come out thus far makes me seriously believe that foul play was involved.

Uh...if Epstein was remotely intelligent, he would've realized he got super fucking lucky the first time there were charges in like 2005, that he got a corrupt dude like Acosta to save him.
And then taken his money and fled to somewhere that doesn't extradite to the U.S. and built a nice retirement mansion there.

I got a new card when that happened and am just holding my chase card as an emergency backup. They've effectively lost me as a customer over that.

It's tempting to just stop using it. But my first ever card I stopped using (worst benefits of all my credit cards) and they eventually closed my account due to inactivity, which in turn lowered my credit score (it was my longest tenured account, so it significantly affected my average # of years for my credit accounts).
The Chase one is now my longest tenured card, and I'd rather avoid a hit to my credit score over losing it. Plus, it is still the best cash back % I have for amazon purchases (it's actually an Amazon credit card, but provided by Chase), so I *do* still want to use it regularly.

So...hopefully the option to opt-out isn't bs. If I don't get a letter and they stone wall me when I call to inquire about it...guess I'm done w/ them.

The thing is...was he intentionally put in a situation (thrown into general pop. w/ a bunch of inmates who'd make his life hell, with the guards ignoring his pleas for help and conveniently leaving him with the needed implements and a lack of direct monitoring for long stretches of time) to "encourage" him to kill himself?

A lot of powerful people definitely would have preferred to not have him under oath revealing things....

I know given his crimes a lot of people are just going to shrug their shoulders or even cheer the news, but it's still unfortunate. If he was being attacked and threatened by other prisoners and felt this was his only escape, it borders on cruel and unusual punishment, before he was even actually found guilty in court.

Even worse though....is that now we'll never get testimony from him on all the rich and powerful people connected to him who may have used his "services," and those people will likely escape justice now.

This is not good news at all.

I put in the letter that I expect to receive a confirmation letter from Chase and that I'm keeping a copy of the letter for my records, and I dated the fucking letter.

I was never intending on going to AU, I was kinda just waiting to see if I can get a refund, which they said they'll try to get me one but it's no guarantee.

While I was visiting D.C. one time, I meet this girl on tinder who told me her friend went there and couldn't stand the "rich kid" culture. It was way back then I realized I was never actually meant to go here.

No, don't swim enough to bother with the accessories. If I had goggles, nose plug, and ear plugs, I'd be fine going underwater (did that a few times as a kid). But I would probably feel awkward wearing all that as an adult.
