There's no real political downside to it as there is when he say...insults an entire group of people, or pushes a policy that endangers our air and water, or so on... Well, I found on wikipedia:
The Palestine Liberation Army (PLA, Arabic: , Jaysh al-Tahrir al-Filastini) was ostensibly set up as the military wing of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) at the 1964 Arab League summit held in Alexandria, Egypt, with the mission of fighting Israel.

Apparently it's a subset / military wing of the PLO.
But mostly it was me mixing up the acronym because there's also the Palestinian Authority (PA), which is a governing body of the West Bank, though apparently since 2013 they've changed their name.

Friend who provided Dayton shooter with 100-round magazine and body armor faces federal charges

You know, when I saw the article title, I thought, "well, I'm sure buying that crazy military grade shit is totes legal, so I assume they nabbed him on conspiring with the shooter, or knowing of his plans and not alerting authorities, or something. Maybe there's some legit crime they can punish this guy for."

NOPE!

Kollie told the agents he enjoyed firearms, owned two pistols and had bought body armor and a firearms accessory for Betts earlier this year, the affidavit says.
The 24-year-old allowed agents to search his home, where they smelled marijuana and saw a water pipe, commonly used to consume cannabis, and a Draco pistol, the affidavit says.

When Kollie filled out the ATF paperwork to obtain the Draco pistol in May, the affidavit says, he checked the "no" box when asked whether he had been a regular user of marijuana or any other controlled substance.

Asked why he lied on the federal firearms form, Kollie allegedly told agents that "if he told the truth about his drug use, he would not be allowed to purchase a firearm."
Though US Attorney Benjamin Glassman emphasized that Kollie did not intentionally help plan the Dayton shootings, the affidavit says Kollie acknowledged buying the body armor, a 100-round double drum magazine and an upper receiver for an AR-15, which is part of the gun's frame. All three items were used in the attack, authorities say.

"He does not deny his friendship with Connor Betts and he was as shocked and surprised as everyone else that Mr. Betts committed the violent and senseless massacre in the Oregon District," Nick Gounaris, the attorney, said.
"We appreciate the United States Attorney stating that there was no indication that Mr. Kollie knew that he was assisting Betts in the shooting," the email said.
Kollie is being held in Montgomery County Jail, charged with possession of a firearm by someone who illegally uses or is addicted to a controlled substance, and making false statements with respect to information required by the federal firearms code.
He will have a detention hearing Wednesday to determine bail, Glassman said. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on both counts, the prosecutor said.

Yes, that's the problem! Not that anybody can go out and buy 100 round ammunition drums and body armor...but that a pot head did! Got 'em!

This is such a fucking farce, they're basically throwing him in jail because he smokes pot, they've already admitted he did nothing else wrong (well, nothing else illegal...I find plenty wrong w/ being able to buy that shit casually). And of course, to show that they're "doing something."

It shouldn't even be up to a jury to choose the level of punishment. Just convict on the charges or not, and then the judge determines the punishment based on the charges the accused is convicted of.

But no, having one staunchly anti-capital punishment person on a 12 person jury who refuses to ever agree to the death penalty in any circumstance shouldn't be enough to save a mass murderer from death row.
Makes a joke of even having capital punishment. People who commit less heinous murders get executed, and ones who commit some of the worst atrocities in history can potentially skate free of it, all based on the random whims of who ends up on their juries.

I feel like if Epstein was half as dangerous to people in the halls of power as everyone's making out, he'd be smart enough to have a dead-man switch contingency. Like, "Hey, I've got some documents in a safe deposit box somewhere in the Caribbean and an unnamed confidante has instructions to withdraw them and publicize them in the event I happen to meet an untimely end. Just saying."

Hanlon's Razor applies here. This looks less to me like malice and more like incompetence on behalf of the guards. Epstein was facing spending the rest of his time in prison, was sent to a jail that is notorious for being dangerous and underfunded, and had attempted suicide once already. No, it shouldn't have happened, but nothing that's come out thus far makes me seriously believe that foul play was involved.

Uh...if Epstein was remotely intelligent, he would've realized he got super fucking lucky the first time there were charges in like 2005, that he got a corrupt dude like Acosta to save him.
And then taken his money and fled to somewhere that doesn't extradite to the U.S. and built a nice retirement mansion there.

When news broke that he was arrested, my legit first thought was, "why was that idiot even still here?"

Meanwhile in the US, I literally just mailed off a letter telling Chase that I want to opt-out of forced arbitration that waives my right to sue them for any wrongdoing they may commit in the future. I don't even know how it's legal to default/force millions of customers to forgo their legal rights, but...it is! And not only is it legal, but they're allowed to require an actual written correspondence to opt out by a deadline of their choosing, calling or emailing isn't good enough.

I got a new card when that happened and am just holding my chase card as an emergency backup. They've effectively lost me as a customer over that.

It's tempting to just stop using it. But my first ever card I stopped using (worst benefits of all my credit cards) and they eventually closed my account due to inactivity, which in turn lowered my credit score (it was my longest tenured account, so it significantly affected my average # of years for my credit accounts).
The Chase one is now my longest tenured card, and I'd rather avoid a hit to my credit score over losing it. Plus, it is still the best cash back % I have for amazon purchases (it's actually an Amazon credit card, but provided by Chase), so I *do* still want to use it regularly.

So...hopefully the option to opt-out isn't bs. If I don't get a letter and they stone wall me when I call to inquire about it...guess I'm done w/ them.

It's totally believable that he actually did kill himself.

The thing is...was he intentionally put in a situation (thrown into general pop. w/ a bunch of inmates who'd make his life hell, with the guards ignoring his pleas for help and conveniently leaving him with the needed implements and a lack of direct monitoring for long stretches of time) to "encourage" him to kill himself?

I know given his crimes a lot of people are just going to shrug their shoulders or even cheer the news, but it's still unfortunate. If he was being attacked and threatened by other prisoners and felt this was his only escape, it borders on cruel and unusual punishment, before he was even actually found guilty in court.

Even worse though....is that now we'll never get testimony from him on all the rich and powerful people connected to him who may have used his "services," and those people will likely escape justice now.

This is not good news at all.

21 y/o Olivia Jane Simons was TASED TWICE by Cops in Georgia and PINNED to the ground after she tried to run when she failed to get her friend into a bar with someone else's ID!!

[...]

But before he gives the ID to the cop, Simons snatches it and sprints away where he gave chase as Simons yells "Run Jessica!"

However, as they began running, they into EACH OTHER as Simons falls to the ground and Leguin then placed his knee on her back and a struggle ensues while Jessica "runs away"

Simons can be heard "Get off me" as the officer warns her and says "ma'am. you're going to be tazed. Lay down on your stomach and put your hands behind your back

So she wasn't tazed for "using a fake ID," she was tazed for ignoring repeated warnings while resisting arrest after running (while also in the process of stealing evidence). Given that she was warned *repeatedly*, even though I don't necessarily like that she was tased, I'm more inclined to side with the cops.

Yup.
Fair, next.

Also obligatory: If it was a white guy instead of a white girl, no one would give a fuck about this.

I'm gonna be honest guys.

I was never intending on going to AU, I was kinda just waiting to see if I can get a refund, which they said they'll try to get me one but it's no guarantee.

While I was visiting D.C. one time, I meet this girl on tinder who told me her friend went there and couldn't stand the "rich kid" culture. It was way back then I realized I was never actually meant to go here.

but hey this was a pretty funny thread thanksfor the laaaaaaaughs people

Everything has a purpose and it has the best overworld soundtrack

I think I liked the overworld soundtrack for A Link Between Worlds better...

They're both great, but I'm gonna give the edge to the original, Link to the Past

OoT has one of the absolute worst overworlds in the series, so pointlessly big and barren.

Well that settles it guys, ICOYAR has seen some videos on line. No need for further discussion here. Tc, time to close the topic.

I mean...I'd like to know why ICOYAR is watching all these snuff films online.

Actually...no I wouldn't....

I can dog paddle. That's about it.

Don't ever want to get my eyes, ears, or nose underwater. Mouth is ok for a little bit if I keep it shut.

Do you wear the goggles? Those help with the eyes, and sometimes nose...

No, don't swim enough to bother with the accessories. If I had goggles, nose plug, and ear plugs, I'd be fine going underwater (did that a few times as a kid). But I would probably feel awkward wearing all that as an adult.
