Do they check the car for drugs before selling it? If not, sounds pretty risky if you ever go through a checkpoint with dogs.

That's the other thing, how do I know some drug-dealer's car isn't full of crack?

Presumably they would have searched the vehicle when it was seized, since evidence is pretty important for trials and also they don't want the liability of selling drugs to people

A few years ago there was someone, maybe a teenager, who bought a car at a police auction.

Turns out there was cocaine stashed inside from the drug bust the cops never found. He got pulled over, car searched, and arrested.

If you do get a police auction car, keep all the receipts handy and ask if their K9 units can give it a once over.

Indeed. According to Islamic lore, Jesus will return to help them conquer the infidels or something like that.

Religious apocalypse scenarios do tend to be pretty silly.

Interesting. I did not know that. I think Islam does acknowledge Jesus as a real person and a bringer of Holy knowledge, but he's not the son of God, much like Judaism. I didn't know Jesus has his own place in Islamic apocalypse prophecy

I feel like stocking bathrooms with tampons is a SMALL drop in the bucket for these larger universities. And higher education wastes WAY more money that doesn't improve student life.

Spending a fraction to help that 2% is at least still helping students.

Plus for sports locker rooms, sometimes visiting teams will change in the opposite sexes locker rooms. So that is one less worry for visiting people.

Oh and also sometimes dorm floors change for different sexes every new school year. I remember in undergrad my freshman year we had tampon dispensers in the bathrooms. The following year they change it to a men's dorm but didn't bother taking them out apparently. So it's time saving when changes are made like that.

I mean, don't we already alter the genitals of animals without their consent when we desex pets? I'm anti-circumcision myself, but that argument doesn't really seem to hold much weight when you consider that as well.

I think the counterpoint would be that spaying and neutering is done for a medical need/help control the pet population (Thanks Bob!)

Whereas circumcision is strictly cosmetic. There would be not benefits to the animals well being like declawing or snipping vocal cords or ear trimming.

First off I'm not a dude.

Second off I was talking from experience about the country and how it's not some third world nation with a ton of red flags for visitors. It's just like places in America. You avoid certain areas, don't go there at night, stick to these places. Have protection. And speaking from experience, Ghana treats Western visitors very well. I have no doubt that the hosts did the most to ensure safety. That's how it was with us. I never felt in danger.

But my whole point was to address those that are blaming the victims (which is shitty by itself) by saying Ghana is some dangerous third world nation (which is another type of shitiness all unto itself).

Third, isn't The Sun that racist tabloid magazine from the UK? Any Brits care to weigh in? >_>

So saying "Oh why would they go to some dangerous third world poor country" is wrong not only for the victim blaming but it's not even accurate. Ghana isn't really known as dangerous to foreigners. Very welcoming to foreigners in fact.

Feel for the victims and the guard who tried to help them and hope this piece of shit is brought to justice.

The whole concept seems weird to me. "The Earth is out of resources. SO GIANT MOVING CITIES THAT HAVE GOT TO SUCK RESOURCES LIKE A FAT KID SUCKS SODA!"

I see no problems here...
Earth runs out of resources because of the cities, and the cities that stops moving will be attacked and be stripped of their resources by the evil Germans.

Is it the Germans? The trailers on TV make it seem like "London" is the bad one

Germans , and Russians, are always the evil.
As for Mortal Engines, all cities are preying on other cities so they are all evil.

This is not true about the movie at all. Saw it the other day so here are some not that massive but bigish spoilers.

London is specifically a predator city. In the opening sequence (which is really cool and the best part of the movie), you see a bunch of smaller German/Bavarian trading cities being chased by London with one being engulfed. There are also slave-hunting cities in the shape of centipedes and a resistance-led sky city.

It's a decent enough film. It's not atrocious and that's coming from a movie snob. Visuals are great, Hugo Weaving has never given a bad performance in my opinion. Everyone else is just serviceable. The idea that a 90-minute war caused all of this is fairly Mad-Maxian in that we don't get a full story of what actually happened.

The humor was my biggest gripe though. Too much Hobbit-level humor. Oh and the random robot wanting to murder his surrogate daughter to turn her into a robot bent on revenge plotline was stupid. >_>

It's like if Pixar (Nintendo) and Dreamworks (Whomever makes the Rabbids games) joined forces for one movie that included the best parts of each.

I've never played the XCOM games but it is really really easy to get the hang of.

The storyline is unique enough with a helper robot who is quite frankly hilarious. The Rabbids in their Mario Universe persona also have pretty unique personalities, especially Rabbid Peach.

It reminds me a little of Super Mario RPG for good and the bad. I wish there were not limits to the party. (Mario and one Rabbid being required is cumbersome). The weapon variety is really balanced and each person gets their just due (although Peach is OP).

There is also one of my all time favorite bosses in the entirety of the Mario franchise in this game. Tom Phan aka Phantom

They reward things to get big stars to come. They want A-Listers. It's a big schmooze-fest. Always has and always will be.

Black Panther was a huge success. Of course they are going to nominate it. It's not even the first comic book/super hero movie to be nominated for a Best Picture award regardless of comedy/drama. Dick Tracy got it back in the early 90's and Deadpool got it a couple of years ago too.

But stop acting like an awards show you never cared about is now some prestigious ceremony that has been held on some pedestal for years. Especially the goddamn Golden Globes.... There have been far far FAR more egregious nominations in that ceremony's history than Black Panther getting three nominations.
