Honestly I never saw rallies as the problem.

It's the dickhead trolls that shit up the board because "lol salt". It's not too much to ask to expect a fourm you frequently visit to not become unbearable because a bunch of bored people decided to intentionally try to annoy you.

This just gave me visceral flashbacks to how insufferable the Draven folks were. Undertale brought in some miserable people too (and I say this as someone who was very happy with the end result), but the Draven rally seemed to solely bring in the most obnoxious taint-lickers on the Internet.

I enjoy rallies when they're being conducted in (at least mostly) good faith though. I enjoyed the Undertale contest overall and loved rallies like Missingno. and L-Block.

Kratos is one of the worst opponents he could possibly have IMO. When it comes to gritty rated-M icons, there's absolutely no way Marston is higher on the pecking order than Kratos.

RDR2 hype will help him somewhat, but Kratos also has one of the most acclaimed games of recent years on his side.

I don't think a Waluigi rally is impossible, but the whole "Waluigi for Smash" fallout got on people's nerves in short order. To this day, you can't mention Waluigi on the Smash Bros. subreddit without getting downvoted to hell.

Him and Sans are too prone to anti-voting IMO. I think Geralt and D.Va are the ones with genuine rally potential. I also think Cuphead would have a shot at an extended bandwagon if he was in, say, Monika's place.

I personally expect Mario characters to look better than usual this contest. Not to a crazy extent - I don't think Peach is getting past Alucard, for instance - but I think there will be enough of a boost that it's noticeable.

They tend to do best when Nintendo itself is riding high and keeping people happy - plus, Super Mario Odyssey gave people the 3D Mario they had been craving for years, and a lot of people have warm feelings towards it.

Thus, I'm taking the Mario folks when I'm on the fence. Captain Toad over Shovel Knight, Yoshi over Pikachu, etc.

The pack with Sans and Bayonetta is brutal, because those two are such wildcards. I want to choose Sans as a fanboy pick, but Pac-Man really isn't a slouch and Sans is gonna be an anti-vote magnet for sure.

On the flip side, I think Geralt and D.Va have the best odds of catching rally support. Especially Geralt. Witcher fans are a whole different animal, and Geralt isn't somebody that people are going to be rushing to anti-vote.
