I'm not defending Emo Peter or anything - the movie is too long, there are too many villains, Eddie Brock is a wimp - it makes Spider-Man 3 the weakest of the Sam Raimi trilogy. I agree, those are all solid points.

But there's a lot of good, especially looking back at it after the last 10 years of Marvel movies.

Pros:

+ The cinematography holds up - the CG can be a bit dated, but a lot of the strictly live-action scenes really hold up. Tobey Maguire can look a bit goofy, even when he's not being a cringelord, but a lot of the live-action fights and just personal conversation scenes look really crisp and flow pretty nicely.

+ The movie has some drama to it, with Peter's relationship falling apart and the Harry Osborn stuff coming to a head. Sandman's character arc is a bit on the nose, but it has some legitimate pathos to it. It's refreshing to see a superhero movie that isn't just a series of quips one after the other.

+ The movie has some potato CG in it, the Green Goblin fights are pretty rough, but the particle effects used for the sand still hold up pretty well. The scenes where Sandman can't keep his composure are still pretty fantastic.

Cons:

- Too many villains, of course - the movie jumps around a bit, and there's barely any focus for the final fight. I think they could have excised the Eddie Brock plotline, or at least shortened it, and saved Venom for a Spider-Man 4. Sandman works with Symbiote Spider-Man, and Harry's role in the series has to come to a head after the end of Spider-Man 2, but Eddie Brock as Venom could have waited for another movie - have Spider-Man 4 be about the Symbiote's fallout, and have him fighting Venom. But Sandman, Harry Osborn and the Symbiote are necessary to the movie, and without Venom this movie could have been cut down to a more palatable runtime and the conflict would be more focused.

- Emo Peter is just... eugh. Even having more experience with Sam Raimi's work and comedy and stuff, this is hard to watch. You can only really see it through a lens of Sam being behind a camera, making Tobey Maguire act like a jagoff for his own personal amusement, which is kind of funny - but it doesn't make for a good movie.

- The CGI is definitely dated in places, though it's still better than the first movie and there are aspects that honestly hold up.

I understand why people can't get past the bad of this movie, because it is pretty awful at its worst. But I think there are parts of the movie that are pretty solid, and in another universe where some stuff is cut down, this would be a pretty solid flick. I'd go as far as to say that it's better than Batman vs Superman, by all accounts.

It's a laughing stock for a reason, but look at it as a whole outside of its worst aspects. I think it's a flawed movie, but it has a lot of solid parts to it and it's worth a watch.

Aussie McDonalds is pretty okay. A bit overpriced, but it's fairly tasty.

Same as KFC, or shit even K-Mart - not perfect, for sure, it has its problems like its American counterpart. But it's still doing a lot better in comparison, and there's enough to like about it.

I have no idea what pub feed is but I voted for it.

A pub feed is a hearty meal cooked at a bar. Some Australian pub feed staples are chicken schnitzel, steak, and a bowl of chips and gravy, though the menu varies pretty wildly depending on where you live (at least to my understanding). You can also get like cooked veggies, salad, nachos, overpriced but delicious cuts of fish, etc.

I do love a chicken schnitzel. You really can't go wrong with a pub feed, but one of its downsides is that - at least in my town where everyone knows everyone - there's an expectation to be social and get dinner with friends. I'm getting dinner before I go to see my friends, so the prospect of a pub feed is a bit awkward - but as far as food quality goes, this is the best option.

One good thing about this news is that I get to break it to my best friend. We play Telltale games together and like make the choices between us, so we're both pretty invested in the company.

Borderlands 1 has 5 story-based expansion packs, from Zombie Island of Dr. Ned to Claptrap's Claptastic Robo-Revolution or whatever. Borderlands 2 has a fair few story-based expansion packs, but they also sold characters and costumes and keys and stuff - that game seems like it has a lot of crap to buy. But I never heard much about the Pre-Sequel after it released, probably thanks to the mixed reception it received upon release.

Did the Pre-Sequel get any "General Knoxx"-style gameplay expansion DLCs?

I know Let's Plays have been going out of style since game streaming began to pick up, but hear me out.

A lot of the time, you'll see a Let's Play for an RPG that's like a hundred episodes long. A lot of this is grinding, as you spend a lot of time in RPGs fighting random battles and you need to get strong enough to win storyline battles. This can make the idea of an RPG Let's Play or stream a bit daunting.

So here's the idea - you have the main Let's Play series for the RPG. This covers the story, any particular sidequests and any battles you encounter on your way between each plot point. But when there's an inconsequential sidequest, or a bunch of time-sink minigames that you should do for good gear (think FFX's lightning dodging), you record that for a separate series of videos. You call it "[Game Title] Outtakes", and you adopt a more casual, streamer-like tone as you do these side quests, so people who want to see you play the whole game have all the content they would ever want, but folks who want an expedient playthrough can watch the main series and get through it without sitting through a bunch of faff.

So the text, placeholder images and tables? Easy. I got those done really quick. The real fucker here was the background color. I don't think the Geocities word processor has a background color tool, so I dove into the HTML to try and set a background color. It took me like two hours of sifting through tutorials before I understood what to do, and what I kept doing wrong.

I think I'm making solid progress. Again, if any of you guys have picture suggestions, I would love to see them. Or should I make my own art in MSpaint and upload it to keep that authentic growing-up-in-the-1990's web design aesthetic?

Though it's not really worth looking at right now. I'm still an absolute beginner when it comes to using HTML, and the page that I have up at the moment is more or less just a proof-of-concept, an upload to prove that I'm capable of creating some sort of webpage in some capacity.

...Except that when I was making this thread, I decided to go in and edit my index page on Geocities because my wording was off. At which point I discovered that the site has a word processor, and all the HTML I've crammed into my head in a manic, caffeine-fuelled blur has been completely and utterly unnecessary. Goddamnit. I posted a comment by like actually writing a bunch of HTML into Notepad and saving it as a .html file, and then I wrote the edit using Geocities' built-in word processor.

Remember - this paid online scam only works if you let it. If everyone refused to pay for online, Nintendo would be left with two options - remove online entirely, or make it free. The former would harm sales of games like Smult and Spla2n, so they'd do the latter instead.

This problem started in like the sixth or seventh generation with Xbox. Sony jumped on board the paid online bandwagon for gen 8, and now Nintendo is jumping on board with the Switch. So I mean yeah, I get why people are upset, but this should have been a much louder issue earlier.

Like seriously, this is a state of affairs that has been brewing for over a decade at this point. Was this an issue that sent gamers up in arms when the PS4 made PS+ a mandatory purchase to play online when the PS3 had (and still has) free online multiplayer? I know that this was barely an issue with the Xbox 360 because a lot of gamers today who played that at the time were mostly kids who didn't have to pay for it themselves, which is why I'm not going to appeal to that being an issue - the console gaming scene today is a lot more different than it used to be, even if some things are still as garbage as they were a decade ago. But you would think that this would have been a bigger deal at the time when Sony imposed an unnecessary cost for the PS4's online multiplayer - I guess people were just happier to see Sony wreck Microsoft for the latter's Kinect shenanigans.

The reason I'm not up in arms is because Nintendo's online is cheaper. I outright refuse to pay for PS+, and I continue to main a PS3 because I like the games on the system and I like having free multiplayer. I get the backlash against Nintendo Online, especially considering that online multiplayer has been free for a year and a half, but for things to be this militant? I think it's ridiculous when barely anyone gave a shit when PlayStation sold its multiplayer down the river, for over twice the amount that Nintendo has set.

People are entitled to feel screwed by this, and I can sympathize. I don't want to pay for an online service either. But I'm probably going to get it, because it's $30 AUD a year compared to Playstation and Xbox's $80 AUD a year. And even then, I can probably get by without it - I'll probably just co-op Smash with my friends at the end of the day, and I hear that Fortnite is exempt from the Online fee. People are upset and yelling about how we're getting screwed - my stance is that Nintendo's deal is screwing me less with its cheaper price point, and I like classic NES games so I'm not upset over their retro game library at the moment. The cloud save stuff? Not exactly a fan, not gonna lie - the other two companies have better policies, but that function is still hidden behind a paywall for those consoles (and a more expensive paywall, to boot).

Again - would prefer not to shell out for online play, especially since it's been free for so long. But I seriously see PlayStation and Xbox's online services as being a lot more price-gouging, and I'm just happy that a Nintendo subscription costs considerably less than a subscription for the other two consoles. That's where I stand on this.

I don't blame people for being upset, but if this was an issue worth fighting for as fervently as people are doing now, it would have been infinitely more useful to have fought this when PlayStation set up their paid online multiplayer service for PS4. To just now go after Nintendo for being greedy when people have been getting fleeced - for more money, and for the same service - across the other consoles on the market? Frankly, I think something stinks about this.

Hey, if it sells it sells. This is definitely a bit out of place for Nintendo, who tend to stick to their own pre-established franchises when it comes to bundles and stuff, but if they can get the Switch to be known as "the Fortnite machine", then they could very well sell gangbusters.

There was a backlash against Fortnite for a good amount of time due to the fanbase, shallow content being made for it online and just generally for being a very kiddy, overexposed game, and it has really been ramping up lately all around the world. But it's pretty fun, and I would wager that it's still doing extremely well - if Nintendo is gonna try and get a cut of the action, then I honestly can't blame them.
