This Super Crown was a mistake. We're literally Sonic tier of Cancer now and attracted so many weirdos with this.

I've known a furry since I was like 12, and he's wanted to fuck Bowser for years. Even before people started drawing him as a human woman.

Monster fuckers, creepy fanartists and the sort of people that folks dismissively refer to as "the Sonic fandom" have made weird shit for Mario and other franchises for years. It's just that the Sonic fandom is more visible, and Nintendo has done a decent amount of upkeep to keep their brand looking family-friendly and crisp. The current wave of monster gijinkas and Princess Peach transformations honestly isn't anything new - it's just gotten a massive surge in popularity, reaching critical mass in a week.

This shit isn't new, it's just popular at the moment. People who decry this as the end of Mario and the degeneracy of Mario fans mustn't have been on the internet for that long.

However I noticed a problem with the metascores, I'm very positive a lot of these titles are supposed to be rated higher besides OOT.

I wonder if new generations of gamers are messing with perceptions.

I think so. We've come a long way as an online community, players are more critical and willing to rate something good on a scale rather than just go "omahgeh best game evur!!!" and say it's a truly great title. You also have people who are more willing to dissent from the hype, look at how big Undertale got and how buttmad GameFAQs posters got over its fanbase, or how Breath of the Wild started to get sunk by people who call it shit like Bore of the Walking or say it's a walking simulator - if the online space was as big as it is today when Ocarina of Time came out, you can bet that it would inspire division among the fanbase. Like pretty good 3D introduction to the series, sure, but you'd get 2D Zelda fanboys blasting the game and you'd have people who just don't take to the gameplay that well. The game wouldn't be a 99, and people would be more willing to state its flaws that come about due to its age while still praising the aspects that it got down pretty well.

ME2 was hated at the time, which is kind of funny, though. I still hate that game. I usually skip it and just go from 1 to 3.

Really? I remember people loving Mass Effect 2 and hyping it to shit, especially over the jank of the first game. The real backlash came with 3 from what I saw, and 2 has started to come down in opinion as people claim that the Mass Effect games were never that good.

Like I can see its hype leading to some sort of backlash at the time, because as far as modern RPG-type titles to, ME2 was pretty big. I can also see a backlash over it being a shooty space military series rather than a geek-safe RPG concept, people referring to it as a shallow CoD type game with face-value RPG aspects because they were pissy about the gun combat. But I don't remember seeing people trash ME2 at the time - for all intents and purposes, in my experience anyway, the game was pretty well received at the time.

There are a few good responses here. It's definitely not for everyone, so no hate if you're not the biggest fan of therapy due to prior experiences or because it's not your sort of thing. And to folks who have been and who have had bad experiences, I'm sorry that the process wasn't super optimal. I've been to a few sessions, and I just got home from a meeting with a new therapist - it was remembering the last set of sessions that gave me the idea for this topic, because it really helped me emote in healthier ways. With the way that some folks on this board post these petty, pent-up buttmad posts to each other and melt down (i.e. nice troll, LordMarshal /s), I thought it would be interesting to throw the topic out there and see what CE's take on therapy is.

I recently started seeing another therapist, I'm eligible for these free Skype sessions where I come from so I go for the allotted amount of sessions when I can. Last time I had a really good therapist, she helped me though some really heavy revelations at the time, but I've just started a new set of sessions with a different therapist and I'm currently on the fence about her. I'm also approaching a different problem with this set of sessions, so things are sure gonna be different.

To anyone who's like "who cares, it's all fake, throw it all out!" - if there's no fire here and this has all been an artificially manufactured outrage machine, then the women coming forward will be facing heavy penalties for this. This guy could sue them for thousands of dollars in damages. If this alleged rapist judge guy truly did nothing wrong, then let the witnesses testify. If you're right, then they're fucked by the law. If you're not, then your divided country doesn't elect a fucking rapist to its highest institution of justice.

Times can be tough in life, and a lot of us are brought up to be as self-reliant as possible when it comes to our emotional well-being. But a lot of folks run into experiences and emotions that they don't know how to properly deal with, and there are people who are ruled by the negative feelings they were made to feel years ago and who never quite heal from them as much as they would like to move on. Ongoing emotional trauma and negativity can lead to mental illness if not properly treated, and undiagnosed mental illness can in turn amplify and worsen the effects of emotional trauma and negative feelings.

Have you ever considered going to therapy to help work through your emotional baggage? Have you been able to find solace in your friends and family, or have you been brought up as a relatively well-adjusted person? What are your thoughts on therapy, as someone who's been before or as someone who hasn't been but has an opinion on therapy?

I never even watched Power Rangers as a kid, but I was doing this ushering job at the time and I had to sit in on it. The only highlight of the movie was the social misfit girl who may be gay - otherwise, it was blurry, generic CGI garbage.

I've seen clips of the original 90's movie, and as cringy and dated as it may be, there's some skill and artistry present with these stunt-people flipping and kicking and shit. It looks like the characters are alive and actually capable of doing stuff. Last year's Power Rangers was just a mediocre CGI bash-fest with a malignant teenage angst plot that plodded on and on - it was by all accounts a bad movie IMO.

It's a good movie, but it isn't one of the best of all time.

Annihilation, now that's a movie that has a chance of being up in the history books. The Force Awakens is a fun movie, but it's not going to be considered one of the greatest movies of all time. Most if not all movies are commercial products, but Star Wars flicks are exceedingly commercial - unless you're willing to put it all on the line to make a movie that can stand on its own as well as a franchise instalment, you're rarely going to make a movie as commercial as Star Wars that can be considered "great".

How familiar are you with the system of caliphate? (Actual caliphate, not what some Muslim leaders called themselves without justification in an attempt to legitimise their rule)

I agree that these problems are due to people doing the electing. The main point I was trying to make was that the church is essentially a vessel for humanity's evil while religion as a concept is a pure enough concept - more like a philosophy than anything. The corruption of religion is facilitated by shitty people.

And I'm not familiar with the system of caliphate.

Religion is essentially the teachings of an enlightened individual or group of people/saints/gods. You have a book with stories and parables and guidelines on how to live your life, and an optimal relationship with your religion would involve applying the rules of your religion to your life for increased spiritual enlightenment. There's nothing wrong with that - if the rules of your religion make you feel good, and help you to lead a better life, then that's good for you and arguably good for society.

But religion falls apart once you bring churches into the picture.

Congregating with other religious folks is fine, you're creating a network of like-minded individuals who you can bond with over your shared beliefs. But I think it's counter-intuitive to introduce a leader with whom is expected to lead a congregation, to interpret the Lord's will by their own worldview and disseminate it as the truth to other people. I think that churches fracture religions, with people who follow marginally different interpretations of the Lord's word going to war with each other.

With Christianity, you have a man who lived his life teaching about acceptance and love, who saw people profiting from holy temples and chased them out with sticks for defiling the holy walls with their human greed. A man who spent time with prostitutes when society was content with throwing them in the gutter, who let a believer wash his feet against the wishes of his rich, upper-class hosts because she was a prostitute. This same man is used by divisive bible-beaters who hate gay people and non-white people, who use the narrative of unwashed heathens and barbarians to harp against immigration and to justify the murder of minorities. They go to church every Sunday and they follow their interpretation of the Lord's word, which is disseminated to themselves and the body of their church by a Southern priest who sees nothing wrong with this narrative. These churches offer bigots and hypocrites a moral shield, and it flies in the face of what religion should be.

And then you have mega-churches, these giant, gaudy buildings with wide-screen TVs and heated pews, a capitalist nightmare funded by the American standard of "bigger is better". These places of worship that entertain the human vice of greed, who don't have to pay tax because they're classified as a religious institution. A holy place that, by all means, has been tainted by human evil.

You have Islamic people killing each other over different interpretations of the Quran, with different schools of thought leading to the subjugation, enslavement and murder of other people who follow less extreme teachings of the same religion. You have the split between Roman Catholics and Protestants contributing the tensions between Northern and Southern Ireland. These churches that branched off from the main religion, causing division within what is essentially the same religion with regional differences.

When a religious school of thought becomes an institution, when it has a leader and a power structure with global influence, you have an organisation with great power and the opportunity to abuse that power for the well-being of its worst, most sinful parts. The Catholic church continues to protect pedophiles and shield them from legally ramifications, with tens of thousands of Catholic leaders around the world being protected by the Catholic church. The church is protecting sinful people from being punished for their sinful deeds - by all means, painting the whole institution as an institution corrupted by human evil.

Religion at a base form is pious and good, a force that people use to better their lives. Gatherings of like-minded people can lead to a stronger community of well-doing people. But when that gathering inhabits a place of worship and elects a leader, when it elects a structure of power to run things, that's when religion can become tainted by personal bias, greed and human evil. Religion is fine. The church is not.

Basically, I'm thinking of compiling a list of 52 movies to watch in 2019 - trying to keep the list relevant to any events or holidays that go on during the year, and filling it with old favorites as well as new movies that I've never seen before. The week of January 1? A movie about New Year's. February? One week should have a Valentine's Day type movie (or Deadpool 1, maybe?). Sometime in June, something LGBT for Pride month. A Halloween movie in October, etc. And ideally there would be some obscure historical flicks as well, and also just some movies that happen to take place that week within the movie's universe.

I'm talking blockbusters, indies, old shit, new shit, the works.

How's the pie?

So good

Honestly, that scene was a highlight of the movie.

It was really dumb how Venom peels back his cool devil face any time he speaks.

Christ, tell me about it.

Blame actors who want their faces on screen at all times lol

A part of this might have been due to budget concerns. There's a lot of crap jam-packed I to this movie, with Sandman's effects probably needing a primo dollar to animate, so a part of this might have been the need to have Topher Grace's face on screen a bunch - but I think the cost of animating Venom's face could be a reason why they kept doing it.
