To create the illusion of the murder weapons vanishing.

I played this sherlock holmes: crimes and punishment (tagged because knowing the subtitle would spoil the specific game it comes from, and there are lots of sherlock holmes story) several years ago and the case involving someone getting stabbed by an ice blade.

The game's telling is pretty obvious because there is a mold shaped to make blades, some chemicals to make ice withoug refrigerator and the blood is mixed with water.

I am thinking, if in real life a killer do the same trick without stupidly making obvious mistake, can oje get away from murder due lack of evidence because the murder weapon no longer exist?

Yeah it can work in theory, but it's not like the investigators wouldn't figure it out anyway. Oh this guy has a huge hole in him and there's water everywhere around him that's melted. There's still hair fibers and what not around the crime scene.

They checked this in myth busters ages ago, though they did it with the whole "bullets made out of ice" thing and it just didn't work.

Not sure of an ice blade but i think it would be too brittle to actually stab someone properly?

Yeah, just take a block of ice, make a shiv (but making it blade shaped would be more convenient because the entry wound would be more consistent to a blade weapons which can serve as red herring in the investigation, whereas you can deduct it is a makeshift weapons if the ice use is crude)

Each year people die from falling icicles. Theoretical if the icicle was heavy enough and the person was strong enough. You could kill someone with it.

You could murder them with the drug ice. That would work.

Interesting. It couldnt puncture a water bottle at all, but i guess flesh will work as long as it doesn't hit any bone. the guts probably work as it is moslty soft tissues.

i guess one thing is you cant substitute a sharp metal entry wound, regardless, they will know it is a makeshift weapon of some sort.
