True, what with the DC cinematic universe. Funnily enough, Marvel properties going grimdark are still better than DC's cinematic offerings.

I've been in this guy's shoes - I wasn't that into superhero movies for a long time, I was kind of an ass about it and thought they were all just bland, corporate trash. I've improved, I do like the odd superhero flick, but I'm still pretty choosy about what I watch.

Logan was a movie that I was genuinely interested in from the moment I saw the trailer. I saw it in theatres, and it was a great flick - weak villains, but it was a solid flick and I liked it a lot. Sure, superhero movies are super corporate and there's a never-ending hype fuelled by the companies to get you to see each new movie - but a good superhero movie is still a good movie.

As someone who used to have a giant stick up his ass, this Ethan Hawke guy has a major stick up his ass. I've been playing Borderlands 1 recently, it was my third time playing it. It's a good game, a bit janky but I like it a lot - mostly playing for the trophies though.

However, I've never played Borderlands 2 all that much. It's only been recently that I've bought the game for myself, before that I'd try to play it with my friends and I just couldn't get into it. Borderlands is the sort of game where I need to sit down with it by myself and get a feel for the game story and the world, and I need a chance to get loot for myself because unless there's an automatic loot dividing mechanic like Diablo 3, I'm awkward at sharing with others.

So I'm just now starting on the Borderlands 1 DLC - I've already finished Dr. Ned, and I'm thinking of doing General Knoxx next. I might have a look on PSNprofiles for anyone who wants to play The Underdome with me, because I beat that shit solo on PC and it fucking suuuuuuuucked. After I'm done with this playthrough - I'm onto Borderlands 2.

I missed out on a cheap GOTY edition of Borderlands 2, instead I got the base game and the DLC pack with a key, a monster creator, a DLC level and the Mechromancer. Are there any DLC options that are must-have for a newcomer to Borderlands 2?

I kind of prefer the polygon Elora, just because it's all I know and because the new Elora looks a bit too animal-y. I always thought Elora had a human top half and a hoofed bottom half.

The 1980's Scarface was actually a remake of a 1920's gangster movie named Scarface. It was a controversial movie, and if I remember correctly, it was one of the movies responsible for the Hays Code - the violence and depravity of Scarface, as well as it seeming to glorify his life of villainy, went against tenants of the Hays Code.

It was a very edgy 90's album, but it had some solid fucking music behind it. The album went pretty hard, but it also took the time to establish some really nice sonic landscapes.

It was also a step up from his last album, 1. Outside. It had some edgy tunes, even a few listenable ones like We Prick You, but even those songs feel a bit barebones compared to what Earthling would contain. 1. Outside has its fans, but I think it's one of Bowie's worst records - or if nothing else, it's around my least favorite albums, personally.

Earthling rocks, even if the younger crowd balked at Bowie's age and the older crowd called him a sellout at the time. The 90's weren't kind to Bowie, but of any of his albums from the time, I think this one drew the shortest straw. This was an album where he ditched the characters, and he decided to go full rock. And I think it kicks ass.

I was just thinking the same thing.

My friends all main the Xbox One, I've stuck to the Switch and even PS3 for A) the novelty of the Switch and B) the cheap price and unfinished games I have for the PS3. My friends have tried to talk me into getting an Xbox One for ages, but I just haven't wanted one - simple as that. The only thing that would ever make me want an Xbone is my friends insisting that I get one so we can all play games together, and I'm not dropping hundreds of dollars in a single lump sum to play games I'm not that into because my friends like them.

But this? This seems like a sound investment. I get to play games with my friends, and I get Game Pass which means a big ol' library of Xbox games. The only con is that I don't have the room for a PS3, Switch and Xbox One right now, but that can change.

I think this campaign is pretty solid. It'll get folks like me to consider an Xbox console much more strongly than before, and people are going to take the plunge for the cheap price and the likelihood of playing games with their friends.

And shit, one more: Pale Green Things by The Mountain Goats.

It's a song about the singer's abusive stepfather, on a day that he remembers from his childhood when things didn't seem so bad. After the entirety of the album deals with the violence of his stepfather and how it affected him, this song comes in and just ties it all in a bow - from the quiet vocals to the guitar work to the string section, this song destroys me whenever I listen to it. By all means, listen to the entirety of The Sunset Tree to get the full context - Hast Thou Considered The Tetrapod? is a song that deals explicitly with being beaten as a child - but IMO? Pale Green Things is the best song. It just is.

Home by Chris Daughtry - there's a really fucking solid Avatar AMV set to this song, and it really elevated the song when I was a teenager.

A Thousand Years - another AMV pick, a lot of songs that get to me are songs I heard in AMVs. This one was a Sasameki Koto one.

Linger by The Cranberries - I only know about this song from Click, lmao. But there was a good stint where I would listen to this song and just get into it, it's a good song about love. Very bittersweet. And it's taken on more sadness in the wake of Dolores O'Riordan's untimely death.

Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer - This is a feelgood, fluffy song that's tear-inducing at times because it just sounds so happy. It's not a song I can enjoy often, but it's a good one to let the dust gather on before you hear it again.

Friday I'm In Love and Just Like Heaven by The Cure - I know both from SingStar games, Just Like Heaven is a bit nostalgic thanks to SingSar 80's while Friday I'm In Love is just a pleasant, jangly song to really set your spirit free. But I also love the story in Just Like Heaven, and those synths really send my spine into a shiver.

I grew up with forums, and I wanted to post on an active one. So I joined in the tail end of 2016. Bad year to join, apparently.

For what it's worth, the series of events weren't glamorous or cool in any way. I was severely bullied and definitely not one of the cooler kids, I just happened to run into an acquaintance through a friend of mine at the time and we fucked for a couple of months.

She was bad news, the relationship really started to dissolve when she took a bunch of painkillers and washed them down with alcohol - the resulting night was one of the most trying experiences of my life.

I lost my virginity at 16, but it wasn't out of love or because I was popular. It was because I lucked into it, I found someone who was down to fuck and I just wanted to be rid of my virginity. Nothing that's all that appealing in the long run.

Silicon Knights spent a few years developing Too Human, a game that ended up being an infamous turd. They decided to sue Epic Games over the use of Unreal Engine, arguing that Epic had special access to functions that other developers didn't, and that it was unfair to license out their engine like that if nobody else can get the same amount of use out of it.

During this time, Silicon Knights developed their own game engine to run Too Human. But what happened is that they copied lines of code verbatim from Unreal Engine - stealing copywrited code from Epic and passing it off as their own work. Epic counter-sued, and they were awarded millions of dollars in damages. What also happened is that any unsold copies of Too Human that were left on store shelves were ordered to be destroyed.

That's what happened to Silicon Knights. They pumped millions of dollars into a shit game, got mad at Epic Games because the project was taking ages and the game sucked, proceeded to use plagiarized code from Unreal Engine to make their own game engine and were successfully sued for copyright infringement.

That's what suprised me when I got around to watching a FF7 stream. Before that, I had only seen Advent Children and heard a bunch of the music, so I thought that the characters were going to be pretty cut-and-paste - Aerith is girly and innocent and too good for this sinful world, Cloud is a sad badass with an awesome sword etc. But Aerith can hustle, and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty to get what she wants. I think that's why I enjoyed the stream so much, because there was more meat to her character than I realised.
