I mean I don't think it's an accident that this happened after news on the Woodward book started to break. I see this op-ed more as supporting the account portrayed in that book and not as bringing any new information to the table.

Also, I'd like to think that the goal here is to turn public opinion against Trump, which at least I think is a more important end then trying to secretly undermine his administration from the bureaucratic shadows.

Okabe is also my favorite character.

The main reason I think Kurisu would be the strongest Steins;Gate entrant is because it seems like the anime fanbase tends to like female characters more than male characters, as a general rule.

It's not clear how much overlap that has with the GameFAQ's population, but this is how I see things at any rate.

I think either Steins;Gate (likely Kurisu, though Okabe is probably close) or switching the F/SN nom to Saber would be the best chance for a VN character to do well.

I don't expect a strong showing from any VN option though. (Which doesn't matter a lot to me personally when choosing what to nominate, but yeah)

I just don't know who we should go for. Maybe Okabe from Steins;Gate. I'd have to be able to get others on board with it, of course.

I currently have Okabe, Kurisu, Tomoya, and Shion (Higurashi) nominated so I'm definitely in favor of something like this.

Also forget vote-ins, Archer literally made it into the contest in the admittedly enormous field in 2013. I also think it was due to a board 8 rally if I remember, but whatever.

Anyway, I could list a few other minor complaints, but my major problem with the third movie was that I'm still not sure how I feel about the resolution to the dilemma of Araragi becoming human by killing the murderous vampire. After living hundreds of years, I can sympathize with her desire to die, and they handled the psychology of that really well with her being ready to die until it was actually happening and then she became scared and wanted to be saved. She didn't seem to have that same doubt after their battle though. Dying for someone else's sake is probably easier than dying in other ways, so maybe fulfill that wish and kill her instead of turning her into a literal shadow of her former self who can't do anything anymore? That just seemed kind of cruel, especially compared to the alternative of her dying to restore him, which I think would've been really poignant and a fitting end. I mean, is she cursed to live forever, no matter the quality of that existence, just because Araragi will never want to let her go? I realize this complaint is super philosophical and someone else could have a completely different, equally valid view of this, but it bugged me.

Uhhh....hmmm. I could give a response to this, but it would involve sort of spoiling stuff that happens later on in the series, so I don't think I'm going to. Suffice to say the show is aware of this and what you're describing is more or less the what the show is trying to convey.

Anyways for Kizumonogatari movies, 1 > 3 > 2 imo.

My theory is that due to the decline of journalism as a profession, less people with ability become journalists now. As a result, the media gets dumbed down and someone like Trump easily runs circles around them, where they simply cannot help but give him free publicity that helps him.

I feel like this not quite the right take. I'm no expert so I could just be wrong, but doesn't giving publicity to Trump also in turn help the media corporations, since it's giving them stories to report on which people will read?

I suppose this is also assuming their goals are economical in nature, which may not be totally accurate.

I liked Messenger a lot more once I started watching the Steins;Gate 0 anime. (had never read the VN before either)

On it's own I found it a bit boring, but I do think it's used really well in-context.

Yeah Extra sucks. I did like the Sumika scenes at least because she is the best, but it wasn't near enough to carry the whole thing. Especially with that awful lacrosse match arc oh god why

Glad someone else besides me kind of liked Unlimited though.

Also Alternative is super long for the record. I can't tell if this was actually your intent or not but I'm pretty sure marathon-ing it in one sitting would be pretty much impossible.

I liked the side routes in Little Busters :(

In particular I really enjoyed Haruka's route almost as much as Refrain even.

Definitely agree on the anime being worse than the VN though on nearly all fronts. In general the side routes suffered more than the main story I think, but yeah.

Though, there is one important scene (the baseball game during the rain in Rin 2) that I actually liked more in the anime than in the VN, so that was pretty cool.

That 86% on "wouldn't vote for a candidate who said it" is a bit surprising to me.

Like it's definitely a bad sign, but I can't help but feel like there's more important hills to die on.

I'd sooner vote for "generic candidate who used the n-word" over a hypothetical (probably?) Donald Trump who had never used the n-word, for example.

Edit: Taken a bit farther this also extends to a hypothetical Donald Trump who is not racist at all but is otherwise the same.

So yesterday I finally got around to buying and playing Super Mario Odyssey. Did a bunch of stuff in the Sand Kingdom. I have access to the Wooded Kingdom now but I think there's a bit more I'm going to finish up in the Sand Kingdom first even though I feel like I already did a lot there. This game is pretty rad. Really nails that feeling of exploration that I got from old 3D platformers, and there's...uh...a lot to do in this one it seems like which is good.

This might even have a chance of stealing the "best Mario game" title from Super Mario Sunshine.

I personally put Your Name in the "good but not great" category. Though, that still means it's good enough that I can easily recommend it just based on my enjoyment of it. Speaking more generally though Your Name is probably the most well received anime movie ever among the anime watching community, so yeah.

I would also say that I like Your Name and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time for similar reasons, so there's that.

I love this movie so much. Think it's my #3 or #4 favorite anime movie also?

I did feel the ending was a bit underwhelming. Definitely only a bit though, and the rest of the content leading right up to the ending is good enough that it doesn't really matter. I think they do a really good job developing the characters and also showing how the time travel thing slowly develops from this minor thing she uses for fun into something that's a much bigger deal for her.

My 3DS has that same problem because I played too much Smash on it lol

That was actually what caused me to buy a Wii U I'm pretty sure, because I probably would have ripped my thumb apart trying to play with my 3DS in that state. (Well Smash anyway. Other games are still more or less okay)

This is not a valid comparison as I see it.

The whole basis for it being ok (in my opinion) in the police case is that the suspect had already done something that necessitated police intervention and was actively resisting said intervention. In other words it's not actually preemptive in that case.
