Ehh, depends. Some women prefer to wear the pants in the relationship, others aren't looking for macho bullshit.

There's definitely a level of passivity that most folks shouldn't be hitting, you need some degree of control over your life and the strength and autonomy to pursue your passions, goals and dreams. Spending your life being a passive white knight isn't how to go about things, be more pro-active in how you approach gender activism and balance it well with a more carefree outgoing lifestyle, or whatever. But different women are looking for different things out of different guys, the same way guys look for different things in women. You're going to find women who are looking for a doormat, though not necessarily this "male feminist" stereotype you're going after.

I've seen more than enough doormat guys in my life already, all of them tripping over each other to beg and plead with whatever woman comes across their predicament about how much they would care and love and appreciate their hypothetical female partner. The sheer volume and the same tired, worthless rhetoric is pathetic. But given that a guy is able to stand on his own two feet and actually do something with his life, there would be women who would be willing to date a doormat. There's just an incredible amount of pathetic dudes out there in the world to compete with, and it's not a lifestyle and/or tactic that's worth pursuing - you're better off just being a more approachable person.

the way I'm coming at this, there are politicians who probably hold these views but haven't been so bold as to outright state them. Think scumbags like that shithead senator who gave an interview to a Polish white supremacist rag and used loaded terminology throughout the whole thing.

I'm looking forward to the day when a politician slips up and shows their true colors in a similar way, so that the people can rightfully tell them to fuck off and preferably vote their ass out.

And to Sakurai, it was probably a greater priority to get Banjo in the base game than Incineroar who is a character no one even wants.

I would call this a pretty big leap in logic.

I will say that there would be a lower chance of Incineroar on the basis that Decidueye - a final evolution of a Gen 7 starter - is already on the Smash roster. We have a bunch of gen 1 and 2 Pokemon because they were massive draws when the first two games came out, but I feel like each iteration of Smash has only seen fit to add one Pokemon per current generation. Could definitely be wrong, but that's how I feel.

But even saying that, Litten's evolutionary line was fairly popular - second only to Rowlet. You have a furry contingent who like buff cats, and you have offensive players who like the prospect of a powerful fire/dark type in the same vein as Houndoom. You have people who just think Incineroar is a fun character. So to say that "nobody wanted" Incineroar is a bit self-serving - I think you're letting your biases distort your view of reality.

Secondly, not everyone keeps 5% of their conscious thought locked away from the rest of their brain solely to slob on Banjo's knob. A ton of gamers today never grew up with Banjo Kazooie and/or never played the games period. You're gonna see a fair amount of gamers calling for Banjo's inclusion, sure, but you act like it's such a sure thing, such an overwhelming majority that Sakurai himself surely must have seen the light as opposed to these "new" Pokemon that nobody actually wants.

I would like to know if Banjo is actually as popular with today's gamers as you seem to think - not just GameFAQs users as a whole, because of course video game enthusiasts posting on a fucking video game forum in the year of our lord 2018 would worship a character from the advent of 3D gaming. I would eat crow if I'm wrong, but I genuinely don't think a majority of modern gamers care so fervently about this 20 year old character who has fallen into obscurity, with only those whose early gaming experiences involved Banjo Kazooie and an old guard of YouTube content creators seeing fit to hold a candle to the character and put him on a pedestal.

You don't speak for everybody who's looking forward to Smash Ultimate, as much as some of your posts seem to come across as. If he's in, he's in - cool, yippee, I'll still buy the game. I don't give a shit. But I don't think that the angle you're coming at this from is right in any objective manner. "It was probably at the forefront of Sakurai's mind" - you have no idea what goes through that guy's mind, so don't even try to pretend like you're sharp enough to speak about where someone else is coming from. None of us are. Sakurai will do what he'll do for his own reasons, and I don't think anyone can speak on his behalf about it - so instead of making these biased assertions and coming at this with any trace of objectivity, just sit down and wait for the fucking game like the rest of us.

With that being said - this Grinch leak is pretty interesting. Now that I know the context behind it, I think I'm going to follow it. I don't care much about the Chorus Kids - and admittedly their inclusion is a red flag for me, since it's one of those go-to Smash fanboy character requests (like King K.Rool and Ridley, though, so we'll have to wait and see about these guys) - but I'm down for Mach Rider. Maybe the Excitebike guy can be a mirror costume for him?

I mean, San Andreas had half-modelled simulated sex scenes. I personally think that the reaction was seriously overblown, what with the content being completely unreachable except through the use of hacking, but there was that probable "think of the children" attitude that spurred that controversy that's at least somewhat understandable.

Profanity filters in video games require you to actually know the swear word in general. There was one game that would rattle off a bunch of swear words, some typing edutainment game, but that was apparently done deliberately. What, you're gonna rate the PS1 Spider-Man games a hard M because Spidey changes the words "Fuck" and "Bitch" to "Fudge" and "Sweetie"? We're gonna age-restrict Tomodachi Life because you can't enter in the f-slur for your characters to say, and you can't make them sing the c-word in the songs? That's fucking stupid.

The fuss over Hot Coffee was over unreleased content of an overtly adult nature, with the potential for simulated sex scenes being shown to children. It was overblown, but that's what it is. Profanity filters work specifically to stop children being exposed to adult content, and you can rarely dig up this list of naughty words and expose people to all of these horrible names. It's not even worth the effort.

There are also like 20+ Pixel Dungeon forks made by fans who wanted more of a challenge, or thought that they could add some more meaningful content to the game. That would make it hotter in a lot of respects. Older ladies are more confident and have more fun stories to tell from a time that you can't have possibly experienced. I feel like there's also less dramatic bullshit going on with women who are older, compared to the petty feuds and crazy alcohol-fueled fights that I see happen with the women around my age, though it depends on the personality of the woman in question of course.

Older women are awesome. You can only hope to be interesting enough as a person to really click well with an older lady. They've got class and wisdom that only comes with age, and you have to stand on your own two feet to have a chance.

my limit is somewhere around 40, though. There's definitely such thing as too old, and things get weird when people start equivocating their age to the age of your older family members. Though given that no-one is making a weird, shitty deal out of it all, I'll try anything once

It's topics like this that make me appreciate CE as a community. We've had... what, one post that's actively aggressive so far (I started writing this somewhere in the mid-30 range of posts, so this part might not be accurate since posting)? All of y'all are concerned for your fellow man, and it's heartening to see people care in the face of this tragedy. Surprising to see so many folks from Pittsburgh, but I guess as CE users it'd be natural to want to get online and get involved with a discussion here about what's going on.

bladegash's posts are also really interesting, like this is live news as it happens coming from a dude with a direct line to what's going on. That's awesome. The events taking place are decidedly not awesome, but it really is incredible that there's someone here who's that in-tune with the event and willing to keep us updated.

I hope this evil fucker burns in hell, what an absolute scumbag. Whether you massacre a church, synagogue or mosque - whether you're shooting up a packed mall on Black Friday or storming a school. There's no redemption to be had, a person who's so content to take lives on a massive scale is just a massive son of a bitch who needs to be used for all that they're worth before being abandoned or killed. I have no sympathy for this scum, and I hope to God that he's rewarded in the only way that his shit-sucking, evil self deserves - what a fuckface.

With this guy and Dylann Roof, I think there could be a fear of attending holy places at the risk of being shot. That's an awful effect to have. To those affected by this shooting, I send my deepest sympathies - "thoughts and prayers" is a meme, but as an empathetic Aussie with no power and little ground to help financially, that's the most I can reasonably offer. If nothing else, I can only hope that this shithead's terroristic actions spark a backlash against anti-Semitic groups that sees this sort of violence lessened to a considerable extent - my hopes are not high, but they're genuine.

This will certainly be an interesting story to follow in the coming days, given that this thread is so close to what's going on. My best wishes go out to Pittsburgh tonight.

Someone asking whats wrong with OTHER boards.... on CE

irony is not a strong enough word for this topic

I don't disagree, but there are other boards that are just as bad if not worse than this one due to a larger, shittier, more entitled crowd. CE isn't a picnic, but we have a shorter time limit to let shit go and be deleted and I would say that we have a closer, even more tight-knit crowd. We argue and shitfling like anybody else, and the political shitposting here is fucking terrible, but I honestly think that the broader scope of what CE can cover compared to a dedicated console board has lead to a lot of that shit being watered down and distilled through a wider variety of topics.

With game boards, it's all "Here's some game news to whine about like a jackass, also leftist Nazi politics taking away our games!" - the latter sentiment is all over the place here, but it's rarely as shitty and stifled as some fucking boner on a console board cramming it into the context of video game news on fear of being modded. I genuinely think there's less of that impotent incel dogshit on here, even if we still have to wade through a lot of other dogshit.

MrMallard

Just to get it out of the way, I'm not that big of a Saw fan. I've seen the first and second one, years apart, and I didn't particularly like the second one because of that dickhead Chad that fucked up the whole movie. I also saw 2 after my first viewing of Jigsaw, so if this sort of thing is important to you, then there's a chance of this viewing order causing bias.

If this information proves to be a factor that you feel colors my viewpoint of this movie in a less than agreeable way, feel free to disregard my opinion and walk away. Just getting this info out of the way to add context to my opinion that you may find useful.

So, Jigsaw.

It's very gory, but not to excess except in one or two glorious scenes. The plot is suitably twisty, and the suspense that the movie makes is genuine. I thought that the movie did a good job with its reveal at the end, some might consider it a copout but I thought it was a decent twist and a good way to carry on Jigsaw's legacy. I imagine that hardcore canon purists or whatever might have been a bit peeved, but I personally thought that it was tastefully executed. Also, the guy who plays Jigsaw has aged really well - he looks younger and healthier than he did in the second movie, which is a surprise considering it's been like 15 years since the second one came out.

The effects in this movie were really out of this world. There was one scene that stood out super hard as CG, and one of the gorier deaths was prefaced by what I felt was pretty bad chromakey. But there's a scene where someone is leaking blood out of a bunch of their orifices, and the way that the skin moves as blood rushes out of this person's face is just incredible. I love how the movie looks, there are some decisions that look a bit ehh but it's easy to just roll with the punches and enjoy it all.

I liked how all of the characters were portrayed. You've got your resident asshole who - annoyingly - seems to never get his comeuppance, you've got the "main" protagonist who the movie seems to focus on the most, you've got a range of extra characters with their own motivations and looks who exist mostly just for cannon fodder and you have the police team. I would say that the police team were the weaker part of the movie, but I liked most of the characters except for Halloran or whatever his name is. And I know that this is the point, he's an asswipe, but I just didn't like him in general. He looks like creepy IRL Johnny Depp.

Jigsaw is an entertaining movie that deserves a few of your bones. If you haven't seen it yet, I honestly recommend it. It has some cringe moments - meaning that some of the horror is just nasty and unwatchable in places, not like "epic lel Fortnite kid memes!!! Weed is dank and depression is a fuck, let's die in teh hell world!" cringe - but there are some magnificently gory deaths and the movie has a really decent sense of suspense. The angle that they take with the revival of the Jigsaw Killer was handled pretty well for what could be seen as a franchise reboot - not giving anything away, just saying that they've brought back Saw in a way where they can probably squeeze a few more flicks out of it. I really like this movie, and I think you could probably enjoy it over this coming Halloween.

But even then, it never got as bad as the PS4 boards. Remember The Last of Us 2's reveal that Ellie is gay, despite it being a factor in a DLC for the first game? Fuckers torched the PS4 board to the ground with homophobic trolling. The Switch boards are far from perfect, but it's a field of daisies compared to the shit farm that is the PS4 board.

switch board is real bad

Only saw one topic about Nintendo celebrating pride and it was a homophobic circlejerk. People were even posting screencaps from 4chan with bs statistics and homophobic slurs.

Ah, that sounds pretty bad. Still don't think it could be as bad as the PS4 board, but still.

Bro, girls are just people. No reason to get so anxious.

there's nothing to fear about woman except getting their hair in your eyes.

I know this rationally, we're all just people. But that doesn't change the fear that comes over me when it comes to this sort of stuff.

A part of it is fear over potentially being a burden or a nuisance, I don't want my presence in someone else's life to be a detriment (i.e. by sending advances - respectful as they may be - that the recipient doesn't want). That goes double for someone who I'm trying to get romantic with, whether it's a casual thing or something more substantial.

A fear of rejection here is a fear of being an annoyance to someone and being a negative force in someone's life - so that period of time between my message and their reply is spent wondering if I'm doing the right thing, if I've blown the relationship already and if my continued correspondence is wanted on her end. In essence, I'm agonizing over whether I'm enough of a fucking moron to be chasing a failed relationship out of ignorance of that failure.

Hey, I'm level 34 now. I've passed the barrier of entry, so I'm alright with raising the bar.

I get so nervous about any potential reply that
rather than sit in agony waiting for a response, I wish for someone to materialise out of nowhere and puncture my skull with a tool used to kill cattle, killing me instantly. The anxiety over this reply sends me into a frenzy where I am actively wishing for a brutal, efficient death.

I get over it in a couple minutes, but those few minutes are an absolute panic.

Every time I message a girl I'm interested in, even ones who are aware and reciprocate these feelings, I essentially beg for someone to appear out of nowhere and put a bolt in my skull like a piece of cattle.

i won't even lie i've been watching some classic james bond and i'm on the 10th film currently..some of it is kind of uncomfortable but I don't go out of my way to complain about it.

Me and my friend have been doing the same thing. It was pretty dumbfounding to watch the opening scene of Goldfinger when James Bond tells a woman to be quiet because "men are talking", then smacks her ass. We made a bit of an inside joke of it

Literally every time I post somethimg critical on a game board some jackass goes wHy WoUlD i CaRe WhAt SoMeOnE cAlLeD bUtThOlE tHiNkS LOLL as some really lame gotcha attempt

I mean this is one of my favorite pastimes, "another great post from the GaneFAQs user butthole666", but I do it out of appreciation for your name and I think you legitimately make some good posts at times. The juxtaposition between a good post and the username butthole666 is fantastic.

People who do that shit to dismiss and be mean are fucking dickheads, though. And yeah, the sort of trash who do that sort of thing seem to flock to the console boards.
