Your mistake was going to the ER instead of a walk-in clinic or urgent care when it most likely was nowhere near a life-or-death situation, just like the subjects of the article. Next time, just go to a walk-in clinic if the problem is fairly minor and can wait until the next morning when it's open or urgent care if you've got something bad but you are in no danger of dying from it. But for the sake of people actually needing emergency care, don't be one of those people that go to the ER just because they came down with a cold at night. --- Hmm... |

Are there any apartments in those areas that you are willing to afford? If so, schedule a tour to have a closer look. If it looks like a respectable apartment complex (decent landscaping, well-maintained buildings, honest-looking residents), ask about the leasing process such as if they do a complete background check, what factors disqualify someone from being accepted as a resident, and what code of conduct they expect residents to follow such as quiet hours and smoking policy (even if you don't smoke, whether they allow residents to smoke inside or make them step outside makes a difference). Also another thing to look for is how friendly the staff is. If they act unconcerned about your interest in their apartments, you may as well not go with them. You want an office that is friendly and welcoming as it leads to a better experience when you have something you need dealt with. --- Hmm... |
