I have learned that the majority of americans are set in their party and nothing can budge them. if you ask the average person they will tell you they always vote one side or the other.

That's the point of parties. There's nothing wrong with that as most democrats and republicans agree with the party. Like I said to you in another topic: Every election I look up every person and every time I still end up voting for the democrat. I might as well skip that step and go through and select every democrat because that's the whole fucking point of parties is to get people who think certain views are connected

have you ever voted for anyone who isn't a democrat? I bet you just vote straight blue your entire life. as someone who votes for people not parties, I am better than you

Every election I do the same thing. One night in October, I take my sample ballot, google literally everyone on the ballot and read everything I can about them, and make +'s and -'s next to them based off of what I find. I then add them up and pick the candidate so I know who to vote for.
In my entire life, I have ended up picking the Democrat candidate in every case except for one time.

Forget that though, we're talking about you. You went from voting for Bernie to voting for Trump. You basically turned against him because Trump is very far from him, Clinton was closer in almost every way.
So yes, he would be ashamed because someone who votes for "people not parties" you definitely let fancy take over your vote instead of actual policies.

This person pretty much hits it on the nail for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/octopathtraveler/comments/8yu1zz

8 travelers, 8 stories, 8 very linear games in one weird package. I liked the concept of not having a main character and the idea of having 8 destinies intertwined even though at first they had nothing to do together. The problem is that at no point during the game the 8 travelers interact in any significant way together. Party banter is even more frustrating because the dialogs between "party" members are actually pretty cute and nice to read. I loved how Therion was always so cynical with the others, how Ophilia is so naive and awkardly positive, how Cyrus is being called "Professor" by everyone else and is treated as such.
This could have made some really really good story with actual fleshed out characters similarly to a FF6 (or any other game with a similar concept). But no, we get 8 self contained stories which are threfore very small in scope and can be summarized in a couple of sentences. You see where this is going from the prologue and it never becomes epic in any way. On top of that I really hate how the game so artificially makes you travel for every single story and how they are split into chapters. In a nutshell it's like "Hey congrats for moving forward on your not so epic quest, now please travel at the very opposite of the map for no particular reason other than just traveling very far" and you do that for every single chapter. It's not that weird the first few times it happens but when it happens for every single chapter of 8 different stories all at once it starts to feel really absurd.
Which leads me to my following point

The world doesn't feel like a world, at all. I always had during the demo and still now that I've been in every region of the game the feeling that a computer could have randomly generated the maps and I wouldn't have seen the difference. There is no level design whatsoever, the outdoors area are just glorified corridors and the "dungeons" are just a couple of rooms with unnecessarily wacky layout which is basically a game of "where is the not so secret passage to access that flashy pink chest on my screen". It's cute for a dungeon or two and it gets really sad by the end of the game. Not a single area in the game ever made me feel anything. Yes the very first time you enter the desert, or a snowy area you are surprised by the unique artistic design but beyond that first surprise effect it's very bland and very samy all the way. Even the names of the locations are quickly getting quite stupid and stereotypical. You have the snowy place, the place with the river, the place with the oasis and so forth. At this point I would almost have preferred that the game had some self awareness and go all the way and call them Snowtown, Rivertown and so on.

Again, I enjoyed the game for some parts of it but I can't help but being so frustrated at how much potential has been totally wasted and I would sadly not even recommend the game at full retail price to JRPG fans because it's not that good. The more I play the game and the more I want to go back to FF 4 heroes of light, Bravely Default or Bravely Second which in my opinion are all 3 far superior games which heavily relies on similar ideas (in particular FF 4 heroes of light, it's basically Quadrapath Traveler done well, with a story, actual characters, actual content and a progression).

There's some combat stuff in the original post that I half agreed/disagreed with so I didn't include it, but the rest I think is a real concern and make me regret paying full price (or rather, $48) for it

They do worry about being called creepy, though, there's nothing abnormal about that worry, and it's actually a sign of reasonable social power being given to women (to counter the physical power differential that is somewhat unavoidable). It's not even that women are doing something wrong.

That's a fair point and I hadn't really thought about power in society like that, but it makes sense
However I don't think Henry Cavill needs to worry about being called creepy and so it feels more like he's been reading some redpill stuff and got it in his head

Celebrities are particularly vulnerable to this, though. If a regular dude gets accused of rape, he has to deal with like 5 people. If an A-list celebrity gets accused of rape, he has to deal with the whole world. Just look at Aziz.

That's why I said it was an awkward comment that was probably taken out of context.
He should have framed the discussion as something along the lines of "as part of becoming famous, I found my dating pool became smaller. Every time I meet a new woman, there's a tiny part of my brain that tells me that she's only interested in me because I'm Superman. And every time that happens, I want to run and call up an ex who I knew liked me for me."
Because people aren't really criticizing the overall point he was making, just taking issue with the comments he made about #MeToo and being seen as a rapist, which gives off the wrong impression and takes away from his larger point.

He made an off-the-cuff comment that was written awkwardly in the article that is being taken out of context.

The point isn't that women are offended by being approached or that an actor worth $20 million shouldn't be wary of potential golddiggers, it's that normal well-adjusted men don't worry about being called rapists.

I get that a false rape accusation can ruin your life, but so could a false assault/theft/etc. accusation.

I'm also worried that a woman who is raped is afraid of coming forward because they lack evidence, opening themselves up to getting put in prison for failing to convict the raper.
Don't trust confessions, police have successfully managed to get innocents to confess to crimes all the time.

IDK about rape culture, and I wouldn't call for the removal of the t-shirt, but the saying is pretty bad
It excuses shit behavior that young boys need to control. It's mostly about girls being more calm and reserved while boys are more boisterous, we shouldn't excuse boys running around and pulling girls hair and go "oh you know, boys will be boys" because part of development is making sure children grow into adults who don't excuse their behavior because of their gender.

I suppose there's an element of taking the above and extrapolating it to boys never learning to control themselves and thus becoming rapists, but that seems extreme and reactionary.

In the English language, we make a point of separating adjectives from nouns. Using adjectives instead of nouns is a good way to be reductionist, leading to clinical-like language that dehumanizes people.
If you were in a medical study then it'd be good to talk about "males" and "females" but when talking about how many women were in attendance, using "females" instead of "women" is lol.

Fact is, none of us deserve to live in America. It's not owed to us, we just so happen to be fortunate enough to have been born here. That's not saying we should have open borders, just that the idea that pure chance where we were born dictates our life is crazy when you consider we could have just as easily been born in a war torn impoverished country
It gets even messier when you consider that many of our ancestors literally stole land from the natives who were here first. Right by conquest isn't relevant today
