The controversy with Henry Cavill first began earlier this week when excerpts from an interview Cavill had with GQ Australia spread online. When he was asked on his feelings surrounding the #MeToo movement, Cavill admitted that men's behavior has to change, but the actor also stated that he is a fan of traditional dating moves that members of the #MeToo movement may not be such big fans of. He explained, There's a traditional approach to that, which is nice. I think a woman should be wooed and chased, but maybe I'm old-fashioned for thinking that. It's very difficult to do that if there are certain rules in place. Because then it's like:'Well, I don't want to go up and talk to her, because I'm going to be called a rapist or something' This proved to Cavill's most controversial comment, and the issue quickly grew to a size where the actor could not longer ignore it come Thursday.

No it's pretty accurate. If it was some regular guy saying it I'd pass it off. But Cavill is a guy who lives his life in the spotlight. All it takes is one bad person to fuck up his career because he said hi.

Anyway, I feel bad for Cavill. He was most likely exaggerating because he feels like this movement could seriously make it hard to approach anyone without feeling like there's sexual harassment involved. The guy's a movie star and people could easily call harassment on him for the sake of something in return, even if its just 15 minutes of fame.

I don't disagree at all, and that's why I hate what it's turned into. By definition I'm a feminist, but in a different context if someone else referred to me as that, I'd just feel insulted. I want nothing to do with the group it's turned into.

No, it doesn't. Feminists will claim it does when pressed on the matter, but the only time they will actually advocate anything for men, is if the flow-on effects will provide an even larger benefit to women.

Those who actually advocate for equal rights are egalitarian, not feminist.

And let's be honest, for that matter - unless you count "feminists say a bunch of mean shit about them on the internet" as oppression, men don't exactly have many men-specific problems either. There are definitely heaps of serious problems that affect everyone, but very few that are gender specific.
