My dad is a doctor and he took himself off the donor list after 1 too many times of witnessing the typical situation of people who desperately need an organ transplant getting pushed down the list to make way for some bigwig who gets high priority because he brings in the money. When you see how people misuse others generosity, it tends to leave you jaded and too disgusted to still be willing to throw your hat in the ring. assuming you live in the US, that seems like a problem with private healthcare rather than with organ donation. but yeah, I'd definitely be sketched out if my organs were going to a for-profit organization --- peanut butter and dick |
