Also, Eddv's onto something. Generally for me, maybe not for everybody, but I think most comedians peak with their first album. Many do improve afterward, but a lot have their lives affected by their new celebrity status or some grander thoughts than their previous dick jokes they used to hone so well. Lots of funny stories can come from celebrity lives, don't get me wrong, but also as an example I don't really care who Anthony Jeselnik meets.

I think Steve Martin had the mentality right when he stepped away; paraphrasing here, but audiences more rigidly form their expectations around the artists after a certain point. They care less for new material and demand more of the old material they know they like, like King Tut for him and Rick James for Dave Chappelle.

(speaking of which, Chappelle's last special The Birdcage Theory is a transcendent way to address comedy and celebrity/showbiz)

tl;dr - audiences get invested in famous comedians over the years in a way where their shows are no longer as specifically just about the jokes, so then their laughs-per-minute ratios can afford a drop.

It only gets offensive when some people take it too far and start doing things like referring to a pineapple+ham+jalapeno pizza as Pearl Harbor for example (which I have unfortunately seen).

Yikes! I've seen Pearl Harbor listed on a sushi menu before too though.

Yeah though, it's not that this word phonetically offends me, but it did catch me off guard due to its other definitions.

I can see how the image-insult can be imagined from "Maybe shes born with it, maybe its lies. Its probably lies." Still, to focus on that disregards the intent of her joke and one of the recurring themes of her set: it's the lies.

Not that intent is always a good barrier to hide behind for jokes, but Chris Christy took a fat joke with a smile and a spoon in his mouth. Huckabee will be fine.

Comedian Michelle Wolf this week about Sarah Huckabee Sanders: "She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Like maybe shes born with it, maybe its lies. Its probably lies.

President Donald Trump last week about Chuck Todd: "Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd of Fake News NBC."

Both jokes are about liars and how someone's eyes look. Why are people speaking up on Wolf's joke about lies and appearances during a roast more than Trump's joke about lies and appearances during his Presidency?

Partly because Donald has really Git-R-Dun'd "fake news" and her joke was funnier.

The "Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's lies" line can reference Huckabee's looks if you go by the original Maybelline phrase insinuating either you're born with good looks or you added a layer of their product for good looks. In that way, she could be insulted there as a liar who's ugly underneath her smoky eye lie-shadow.

But really though, the point was clearly about Huckabee not being trustworthy.

NEWSWEEK - ANOTHER TRUMP TOWER IS ON FIRE, THIS TIME IN AZERBAIJAN

A mutli-floor blaze has broken out in the unfinished Trump International Hotel and Tower in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, the Independent has reported.

Just weeks after a man died in a fire at the Trump Tower in New York, Azerbaijani emergency services rushed to the 33-storey hotel to battle flames consuming the buildings middle floors.

The local Azadliq newspaper said up to 25 firefighters and 100 other personnel were dispatched to the scene, extinguishing the fire after three hours. There were no immediate reports of injuries, and the extent of the damage is not yet clear. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Some laws are subjectively and perhaps objectively worth maintaining the punishment for people who previously broke the laws in question before they were no longer laws.

This is one I'm pleased to see go more sympathetically.

Good on Seattle (and California passed a variation of this too at the beginning of the year, so more broadly good on the west coast).

Crono was the first Noble Niner to lose to a non-Noble Niner in:

1) a one-on-one twelve-hour match (lost to Missingno)
2) a three-way match (lost to Pikachu with Magus)
3) a four-way match (lost to Vincent with Link and Zero)
4) a rivalry match (lost to Liquid Snake in Crono/Lavos VS Solid/Liquid)

It doesn't mean he can't beat another Noble Niner -- especially after how powerful CT looked in the last game contest -- but he's been the first one to break in every format besides one-on-one twenty-four hour matches (which the Noble Nine remains undefeated in).

I might take Crono > Sonic, but more likely I see him at the weakest link of the Noble Nine in the next contest.

I think this is the main thing. Donald's our oldest President ever and comes with a history of racism. He's also our publicly rudest President in our lifetime. For those who don't know, Chuck Todd is Jewish. This insult either a bad-looking coincidence, or not.

Even if Donald didn't know, he does now and his reaction (or lack thereof) should be telling. I've accidentally used a word I thought was informal but not offensive before when it actually was, and I felt pretty strongly about trying to clear my name and let people know I didn't mean my use of the word like that.

I can see how the term in question wouldn't be widely known as offensive here, so Donald's got an opportunity to disavow it. Does he care to? And if so, we can discuss how much it matters, but let's see if he even gets to that point.

A candidate ought to one day come fully out against the Electoral College. "A vote for me is for a vote that matters" or something.

I understand the truth to make the Popular Vote the official vote would be harder than making the campaign promise, but that seems like a good way to stand out and get voters to feel like they're being heard across the aisle. I never faulted Hillary for skipping Michigan/Wisconsin. I fault the political system for making that a necessary move, but her going after PA was the goal she needed to aim for.

In hindsight, some of us got caught up in the excitement when she was trying to swing states like Texas and Georgia. She didn't need to do that, but then, maybe that was a good move in a world where Comey doesn't reopen her case right before the election. We'll never know now.

EDIT: about Michigan, she did push for having a primary debate there in like March 2016 so that's not nothing anyway.

1) The shooter was naked outside of a jacket he used to cover himself.

2) A good guy withOUT a gun wrestled the gun away from the attacker and made him run away.

Don't believe I ever had a day off for that growing up, and I wasn't really aware that was a holiday.

Not underestimating the pettiness and defensiveness of people still celebrating the Confederacy -- I shared the Memphis article recently where Tennessee took away $250,000 from their funding for removing their two statues -- but I'll want to hear more about this situation you're talking about.

EDIT: I dunno if that holiday is Alabama-exclusive or not. My experience is with TN.

I missed Max, but also I missed rewinding gameplay to inform your choices -- that has been the driving "cool" thing of the series for me and what separated LiS fron the rest of the genre. Stop taking me further away from the time Max got her powers and give us something that's post-Chloe/Bay so I can rewind again.

I wish they'd do three episodes based on each timeline and alternate their releases (Chloe 1, Bay 1, Chloe 2, Bay 2, Chloe 3, Bay 3)...bonus points if they could convincingly tie it back together somehow. Even if they do something different going forward though or even get a whole new cast, that's fine too. I just think we've had enough prequels and think they've let backstory get in the way of their special mechanic.

I played a level of DKCR on the Wii and loved it. It made me think right away it was better than anything fron the original trilogy.

I then got the game on the 3DS..
and I know losing the buttery framerate bothered me, but I found the game to be a chore in its second half. It reminded me I never really was attached to the original trilogy anyway.

Aaaaaaaand beat it. Well that was short.

It wss fun to have a little pirate adventure but I don't think this episode had much vision. Nevermind it being short in that aspect, some of its dialogue felt repetitive too and I don't know how much I really learned about either of them. This is the first time I though Chloe > Max though, so that's something -- still Team Max overall though!

And hey Max, what the eff about not getting back to Chloe much over all these years? This previous aspect of their relationship made me guess Chloe messed up in some weird way or got too clingy...memory might be failing me, but now it just seems like Max removed herself. I can't speak to her Seattle life at the time, but aa far as her relationship with Chloe goes this was a pretty crucial time she needed someone.

It took a day for me to get the game to load past the opening scene for some reason, but it seems to work now.

This Choose Your Own Adventure book about the Rat King gives me a lot of joy after all the Give Yourself Goosebumps books I used to read.
