The attorney, Jay Goldberg, told The Wall Street Journal that he spoke to Trump on the phone last Friday. In that call, he reportedly told Trump that on a scale of 1 to 100, where 100 represents full protection of the president, Cohen "isn't even a 1."

THE HILL - Trump: We'll put sanctions on Russia 'as soon as they very much deserve it'

President Trump on Wednesday said his administration would levy additional sanctions on Russia as soon as they very much deserve it.

The comments, made at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, capped a four-day stretch of confusion over whether the Trump administration would punish Moscow for its alleged role in a recent chemical attack in Syria.

Trump began to walk away from the microphone, but returned to answer a shouted question about the sanctions. He then went on to tout his record on confronting Russia.

There has been nobody tougher on Russia than Donald Trump, the president said, restating one of his common talking points.

NPR - Tennessee Strips $250,000 From Memphis As Payback For Removing Confederate Statues

"This amendment and the explanation, it is hateful, it is unkind, it is un- Christian-like and it is unfair, OK?" she said. "Memphis is a city in this state, and I am sick of people in this House acting like it is not."

State lawmakers have been debating all session how to get back at Memphis for removing the statues last December. Many were angered that Memphis officials circumvented a state law designed to protect Confederate memorials, by selling the parks the statues were in to a nonprofit.

That organization then took down the monuments, which remain in safekeeping while the courts sort out what to do with them.

Rep. Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga, and other Republicans defended the decision to withhold funding from the bicentennial celebrations, saying there had to be consequences for flouting the will of the state legislature.

"I think the city of Memphis, like any other city in the nation, needs to if not obey the law, at least obey the spirit of the law," he said. "The law was very clear, and they got smart lawyers to figure out how to wiggle around the law."

Republican Rep. Sabi Kumar of Springfield said revoking the funding was not about Christianity. "This is politics. What was done in Memphis, in removing the monuments, was basically a sneaky thing to do."

Democrat Bo Mitchell warned of "bad consequences" not just in Memphis or Tennessee but nationwide. "Because what you're doing here today is the bad actions of someone who brought arms against their nation and fought against our country, committed treason, then was a proven war criminal, and was slave trader," he said, referring to Forrest, "you're going to choose to honor that person here on this floor today and hold it against a city."

ABC - Former first lady Barbara Bush dies at age 92

"A former first lady of the United States of America and relentless proponent of family literacy, Barbara Pierce Bush passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the age of 92," reads a statement from the office of former President George H.W. Bush.

Mrs. Bush served as the country's first lady from 1989 to 1993. She passed away shortly after deciding to forgo further medical treatments for her failing health.

Mr. Bush is "broken-hearted to lose his beloved Barbara, his wife of 73 years," according to Jean Becker, chief of staff at the former president's office. "He held her hand all day today and was at her side when she left this good earth."

While it's a "challenging time ... it will not surprise all of you who know and love him that he also is being stoic and strong, and is being lifted up by his large and supportive family," Becker said.

So just to be clear:

Cohen and Donald have been working together for many years, Cohen and Broidy were co-Financial Chairs of the RNC, Cohen's had Hannity for a secret client, and Donald and Hannity provide feedback to each other.

I don't know how implicated this makes Hannity, but depending on the evidence gathered this is an interesting foot in the door to potentially investigate him and even Fox.

WASHINGTON POST - Poll: Democrats advantage in midterm election support is shrinking

The poll finds that the gap between support for Democratic vs. Republican House candidates dropped by more than half since the beginning of the year. At the same time, there has been a slight increase in President Trumps approval rating, although it remains low. Measures of partisan enthusiasm paint a more mixed picture of the electorate in comparison to signs of Democratic intensity displayed in many recent special elections.

One potentially new factor in the mix of midterm issues is gun policy, which has emerged as a major voter consideration two months after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. More than 4 in 10 registered voters say it is extremely important that candidates share their views on gun issues. Fewer voters say its critical that candidates share their views on Trump or House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), leaders who are most likely to be targets in partisan messaging this fall.

With the Republicans House majority at risk, 47 percent of registered voters say they prefer the Democratic candidate in their district, while 43 percent favor the Republican. That four-point margin compares with a 12-point advantage Democrats held in January. Among a broader group of voting-age adults, the Democrats margin is 10 points, 50 percent to 40 percent.

Republicans owe part of their improved standing to Trumps thawing job ratings. The Post-ABC poll finds that 40 percent approve of the president, up slightly from 36 percent in January to his highest level of support since last April. Still, Trump continues to face majority disapproval at 56 percent, higher than any president at this stage since the dawn of modern polling, an indication that he remains a significant liability for Republicans on Novembers ballot.

The survey shows the GOP making a more pronounced shift among white voters, who now prefer Republicans by a 14-point margin over Democrats, up from five points in January. Republicans lead by 60 percent to 31 percent among white voters without college degrees, slightly larger than an 18-point GOP advantage three months ago.

More seriously, when Blue Lives Matter was picking up steam with their anti-discrimination laws against cops (who already have special protections), I argued that other jobs should be considered if this angle's being pursued -- including refs. I think I also mentioned judges and IRS workers at the time, hard to remember.

If society's ready to say people who enforce rules are discriminated against, we can have that conversation -- I just like it less when we do it just for one career.

And in the case of cops when they pushed for this first, it also felt like they were hijacking the movement that was protesting them. If they step up for this broader type of enforcement discrimination that involves other careers, that would feel more sincere to national concerns of upholding rules.
