Mega Man X and it isn't even a contest.
But I'm curious: how come people voted for Sonic 2 over Sonic 3?

My brother does. He's annoying af about it. If there's a single detail off about a reloading animation he's already complaining about it...

Oh GOD! You tryin' to run him off from Mega Man altogether!? Don't tell him to play that filth!

If someone manages to master that game, all other games in the series become a walk in the park. X6 is literally the high skill test for MM players.

Oh, but it can. For example: let's suppose Ace Combat 7 decides to go the full realistic route and lessened the number of missiles you can carry from 40~60 to 10 at most, depending on the aircraft you choose. Well, have fun hitting all those enemies with your guns, but beware of the time limit.

If the game is balanced around 10 missiles then I don't see the issue. If you make a bad game, that's not reality's fault, it's yours.

That's the point I was trying to reach: realism for the sake of realism isn't good. The goal must always be making a fun game. If realism can help you get there, okay, but otherwise stay away from it. Some people often forget about that.

These are not conflicting points. I enjoy Gran Turismo more than Assetto Corsa, but not because of passing an imaginary realism horizon, rather due to intended direction. Things don't become more boring because of better physics (which btw, doesn't have to be realistic per se), they become boring when they're not designed to be fun or ignore things that damage enjoyability.

It won't be a piece of hardware it will be a distributed gaming service. You'll pay a monthly fee to max out games that are rendered in the cloud and we'll get to experience all the joys that come with it, like variable input lag in single player and completely locked down modding communities. on the plus side if you buy the premium service you'll get the 4K 60fps at all times guarantee, but the downside it'll cause you to hit your Comcast monthly datacap in 2 hours.

If that happens I'll leave gaming for good.

In simple, rigid physics sure, but better physics can mean things like weight distribution effecting how the sword swings, or the material's ability to penetrate armours considering momentum and stance. Advanced physics can mean gripping ground better based on boot tread. You can't adjust for fine things in current systems as consoles (and PCs) haven't the man power to handle these vast streams of entangled data in real time.

You know, there's a point where the fun ends up getting sacrificed for the sake of realism. This is a line that shouldn't be crossed

Um. Yesterday. I made a pretty terrible topic on the xbox board mocking the people that are fiendishly hating the new battlefield because there's a woman in the game. The point that confuses me the most is they call her a transgender???? Woman = sjw, transgender. I guess. Im not even gonna buy the game but these people are insane

Really? The ones I saw complaining about this said it was because of history accuracy.

Nothing. They've reached the point where they can no longer keep pace with the best hardware available while keeping the console form factor and price point. Consoles will always be 3 years behind.

What consoles can do is create a fun and multifaceted social and multimedia platform. This is something right now Xbox is killing it at and Sony isn't even close.

Well, I certainly wish Xbox continued success of the same level they are currently experiencing, following your brilliant product strategy.

*snicker*

Ok. Doesn't change the fact that qol on Xbox is leaps and bounds ahead of PlayStation.

I think your letting fanboyism cloud your objectivity.

I don't buy a console to have a multimedia platform.
I buy it to play video games.
Two of the major video game console developers still have that view, one does not.

You're the one acting like a fanboy, claiming "quality of life" is better on one or the other. They're video game consoles. PS4 has a great library of games, so to me its "qol" is just fine.
Xbox has....not a single exclusive I care about, and even is lacking in multiplatform games I want. To me, it has a pretty terrible "qol."

This.

Idk about that, I have a bunch of PS4 games, and there are lot I still want to buy, so many that I'll probably won't be able to before the PS5 actually comes out. Tho, yeah, there are a lot of remakes/remasters/ports, and that's not exactly a bad thing. I'm personally glad about Crash remake and tons of vita ports that I wouldn't be able to play at all otherwise.

PS5 every game is a sandbox game!

Sorry if im playing in a sandbox id rather go outside where I have the most freedom and it actually means something.

I like my games to have purposeful messages communicated to me through the artists desires and pacing designed to force me into a new mindset.

I dont care about modern akinners box western AAA game design. Sure you can skin a cat many ways but does adding another 20 variations make skinning the same cat more fun?

Give me some new animals already.

You're not very creative, are you?

Imagine traversing a wood where twigs and leaves snap and crunch under your feet in real time breaking in to fragments that move independently. Imagine the trees flexing in the wind to a weather system randomly generating functional wind on the fly. Imagine cave systems that employ multi-stage light reflections. Imagine a building game where you cut in to trees that split under your axe's blade, not apportion you blocks of timber appropriately in a locked-in scripted animation. Imagine enemies that, instead of lining up actions in perfect succession, wobble on uneven ground, modulate their strikes to chase you and manage their weight realistically. Imagine rather than tossing light and heavy blows in rhythm you can angle around guard and launch fluidly modulated strikes managing a transient flow of statistics rather than managing break points.

You want a message conveyed? Imagine a painter who can only use one brush stroke or a writer who has to write in a template. Greater fluidity and granularity leads to a more tempered, more refined end result and thus a message more accurately depicted.

Most of this is unnecessary tbh... I mean, sure, if you have the resources for that, then go for it, but that shouldn't be a priority ever.

I think it's way too early to say. If I'm not mistaken, someone from Sony already said that there would be no hardware announcements at E3 (correct me if that's wrong), meaning that if they are going to announce it, it'll be at least next year to release it in 2020. And honestly, imo they'll only announce it in 2020 for a later release.

With that in mind, it's impossible to say now what will be available by then that could be used to make a better system than the PS4.

I used to play on easy all the time until I played Mega Man X 8 and found out by pure luck that you couldn't get the true ending unless you played on Normal. From there on, I always picked normal in order to avoid this kind of situation again, and on very rare cases, I do adventure myself on hard.

Chocolate and Yu-GI-Oh cards. It's specially funny because people at home ends up eating more than half of the chocolate I buy and I have no one to play cards with but I just keep buying all of this for some reason.
And maybe I could save a little more money when it comes to food, but screw that, if I wanna eat, it has to be the good stuff instead of the cheap one.

imagine if you or your family was involved in a serious car accident or was run over by a bus and you could save them

But couldn't you also tweak reality to make it so they're all better? Or so that the accident never happened?

um no.

I don't believe debug mode of game would allow you to go back in game to point you already played

No need to go back.
When they die you open the debug menu and put the characters back.

Tho the trauma of dying will stay with them forever...
