I'm kinda out of the loop lately. Was watching DxD Hero and new season of Nanatsu no Taizai, but I'm a few episodes behind (still mad at DxD for skipping one of my favourite parts of the story in season 3). I was catching up to some stuff I missed earlier this year, such as Gossick (which was surprisingly awesome), Akatsuki no Yona and Black Butler - still need to watch Book of Murder and Book of Atlantis (was that the name?) - but also stopped. I guess my hype for season 3 of To Aru Majutsu no Index is blocking every other anime off my mind, and that thing won't be released anytime soon. The next LN will be out in a few days, at least.

Still trying to figure out what S/O stands for, and feeling really dumb for not managing to...

That goes for me too. I don't have nightmares that often but when they happen, it is beyond unsettling. Like, the shit won't get out of my head for weeks, I feel shivers in my back in plain daylight and feel the need to watch my back even when there are people around. My mind... is just that terrible.

So crunch time is a natural process of product development. When the product is 90% of the way done everyone works their hardest to get the product finished and all of the problems fixed. It sucks, but it is how everything is produced. You know what you don't do? You don't plan on crunch time before, because that's for fixing bugs that appear throughout development, and by planning on having crunch that compounds existing bugs along with the new bugs.
Publishers plan for existing crunch time and it compounds through each year.

So you start to looking at 80 hour work weeks, all unpaid. There are stories of people sleeping under desks during crunch, and not seeing their family for those weeks, it's just a general shit show.
Then, when the game is finished, layouts happen. A whole bunch of people get thrown on the street and have to go work somewhere else.

There's a reason why nobody stays a video game developer (same with being a CGI monkey) for long, because they're worked to the bone and thrown out.

Yeah, I've heard about that. This kind of stuff can also happen due to bad planning (like some stuff in the GDD that is bound to not work) or because of tight deadlines and can be avoided, but some companies don't seem to notice or care to bother with it.

Ugh, it happens every time and the feeling sucks. Even when it goes away, it leaves something like a mental scar behind that is a pain in the ass to deal with. Sometimes I hate myself for ever falling for people, it never works out and I never know why. I got really close once but got friendzoned.

Unfortunately the best advice I can give is to tough yourself and get used to the feeling. Or find someone that will accept you, tho if you could do that right away you would probably have done it already...

This... is actually a pretty tough one. Like them both equally. Can't decide.

Have to disagree with this. I made my young cousin stop watching a cartoon (idk which one it was, but it was on the same level as this one) to watch Avatar the Last Air Bender with me and my sister just by putting it on a nearby TV. He came to us on his own and was fascinated by the show.

Some people are bashing it, but it was pretty good imho.

I... literally have nothing to comment on this. I get that the goal of the show is different but... it makes me feel sad. I miss the original, hope they make a sequel of that in the future.

I liked the story up to the third one (the second being my favourite). Then everything starts feeling boring from there on for some reason. Red until the begging of the 5th and couldn't go on any longer, I got Eragon by that time and it was way more interesting to me. Watched all the movies tho just to know how it all ends, and wasn't disappointed but could be better.

Sometimes I wish I didn't had to worry about money. I mean, I don't want to be super rich just to be able to spend a lot, it's just that having a lot of money gets rid of the constant fear of messing up and having to say goodbye to my current lifestyle... which is kinda simple tbh. But then again I wonder... would I feel empty without that risk? Would life get boring (or rather, even more boring then what it is now)? For the sake of my own sanity, I like to think that's no the case. If I ever got to that point, I would enjoy the freedom of choice. I would put into practice all those projects that I don't have time to do now because of other obligations that wouldn't be there anymore. It doesn't need to be a big goal, just anything that looked like fun. Heck, even if it's just spending more time with my siblings - or even my whole family - would be enough.

Money indeed don't bring happiness. But in turn, it gives you the freedom to seek it without having to worry about stuff that gets in your way.

Usually it doesn't really matter. But if things get way too brutal, it does makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I prefer flashiness and coolness over just plain realistic violence.

No wonder OoT is winning. And my vote can't go anywhere else besides this one too.

To be honest, that's true.

You need to make a 20+ hour game with, say 5 hours of actual talking plot where cut scenes happen and characters actually exist.

When you're in game development, things get cut and added all of the time (when you have to make it in two years or so, the quicker end of game development). So, you have a plot that goes A->B->C->D where everything makes sense and works. Buuuut, you get told to change C to E because the game devs learn that the level they were building for C just wasn't enjoyable and they wanted an E section instead. So you change the plot and characters around so E makes sense.
Then when you need to write and make the characters make sense for the story, but you need to do it with a whole bunch of time to spare because you need the voice actors can actually read the lines. Also then they need to be added to the game, lip sync with the game, and set everything up right. This takes up a whole bunch of time. So then when that time comes, you need to scrap part B because it wasn't working out, and you just need to produce the damn game.
So now it goes A->E->D, and it still works, it's just sort of shit and uninteresting.

But, if you didn't have voice acting, you could spend more time refining the story, and adding better word choice, and adding extra dialog options into it. You can just do straight up more story and make it more interesting and a reason why people actually like it.

True. They could've fixed the games issues in the process, making X4 playable and X6 the perfect masterpiece it should have been.

Idk about them, but I didn't had much contact with Nintendo consoles back in the day. My first Smash was actually that flash game. I only managed to play the 64 one two years after the release of Brawl thanks to emulation. It blew my mind to find out that such cross over actually existed outside fan games.

Love complex stories. The more complex the better. BUT all of that must be contained in the game and nothing important should be missable if you don't meet really specific criteria (unless that is a requirement to actually beat the game). The only exception is BlazBlue because that shit hooked me up hard enough for me to overlook the need to search for side material to just barely get what's happening.

On the one hand, seeing a game like Pokemon Go, but with way more depth and polish, would be a good thing to see. On the other hand, it sounds like they aren't intergrating this in the best way, and non-evolutions doesn't make sense.

You can evolve, just not your starters for some reason...

I was hyped until I learned it won't be a main series entry and won't play like one. I really hope the next game next year still have the coop function, that is a pretty nice addition (and the ultimate slap in the face of thousands of other games that STILL refuse to go back to local multiplayer for some god damn reason).

Sheesh, it isn't. This is just a spin off game, the actual main entry next year will keep Pokemon fix the damage - if any - caused by it.

Your first mistake was going into Pokemon for the story. Teambuilding and battling are where the actual meat of the game is.

I did play for the lore for quite some time tho. It always felt epic knowing the legends surrounding legendary pokemons and other top tier trainings and tehn finally having the chance to face then with badass music on the background.

Metaleon? Wingeon/Angeon? Can't think of a dragon or fighting Eevee.

Your starter Eevee/Pikachu can't evolve, but you can catch other Eevee/Pikachu and evolve them.
