I find it interesting how much we obsess over the main event. It was an OK show, with one amazing match to kick it off. When I think back on Backlash, I'm going to remember Rollins-Miz and have a somewhat positive impression due to that. Why in the world would I let one match dictate my entire opinion of the show? I don't think most people do that, just people in forums like this.

Uh, I'm pretty sure it was the entirety of the show everyone hated except for that one match and the AJ/Nakamura match until the finish.

Yeah that is so clear based on the conversation here. It has always been this way. When Cena was on top, there could be a killer show (and honestly, Cena was a great worker, and certainly didn't illicit indifference from crowds), and all anyone would talk about is Cena winning. That is all you, and most of the people here care about, who wins the main event.

I remember like a year ago when Apple released their terrible new iPhone that didn't have a headphone jack and started selling a $20 adapter for it and it further confirmed to me that Apple no longer cared about putting out a product that they even pretended was actual quality. That was the one where Owens and Cena wrestled the third match in their series, which was literally almost a carbon copy of the first two matches except that Cena won by tapping Owens out.

It was also main evented by Lesnar and Rollins where Lesnar won by DQ after one of the dumbest matches psychology-wise ever.

They're not objectively lame and anyone still saying that can be safely ignored. The Vegas top line was one of the legitimate best in the NHL all season and they have a ton of depth because they found a lot of undervalued players with chips on their shoulders.

The fact that they have an amazing goalie helps, but people still pretending like that's the only reason they're still alive and that they're hanging on by a thread until they face a "real" team is either not paying attention or just unwilling to admit they're wrong.

I see people saying this about Gamora in particular. "Oh, they can't bring her back, it cheapens one of the most emotional scenes in the movie!"

Like... Why? It still gives Thanos a lot more depth and is heartbreaking for Quill in the moment. Undoing the death doesn't undo the drama.

- I feel like the Accords were just a plot device and the movie was more about how one handles loss. Tony was dealing with the absence of Pepper and his parents were on his mind; even more fresh at the end after Rhodey crashed and he saw the video at the end. Captain America went to Peggy's funeral and heard Sharon's speech in the midst of deciding which way to turn on the accords, and he stayed stubborn and true, but also wasn't going to just give up his only other WWII buddy (and even then, he was initially just making sure he was bringing him in safe from retribution). Zemo's entire motive was loss of his family. Black Panther was dealing with immediate vengeance for the loss of his father, but unlike Tony who never got over his parents' deaths (or at least his mom's), T'Challa had those last moments with his dad, knew his dad was proud of him, and had moments to reflect on and aspire to without such a heavy feeling of loss... which is why when he saw how consumed by loss and revenge at the end of the movie was the one who ultimately stopped Zemo and understood him.

This is a great explanation. Tony's side doesn't make sense because the Accords make no sense. How are the events of Lagos prevented with oversight? If the Avengers aren't sent, Crossbones gets away with a biological weapon. If they are sent, nothing different happens because it was a freak accident with collateral damage. The Accords literally change nothing or make things worse. They may have prevented Ultron, sure, but A) no one could say for sure, and B) that wasn't even the actual impetus.

Supporting the Accords was Tony's way of trying to deal with all the guilt and PTSD that's been hanging over his head since Avengers 1. If he's not fully in control of what the Avengers do, he doesn't have to blame himself anymore. Cap says verbatim at one point "This just shifts the blame." And he's right. A mentally healthy Tony never supports the Accords. As it is, though, it was an opportunity for him to redirect some of the responsibility for the deaths his actions caused.

Cap's side had its problems, too, but the Accords in-universe were a joke.
