That's exactly what I think they'll do, though. Push him hard for a few months, convince him to re-sign, and then return him to the midcard or upper midcard where they always wanted him once he's locked up again.

And Ziggler wasn't meant as a one-to-one comparison. The point there is that wrestling is inherently dangerous and if WWE was really as worried about their wrestlers' health as they claimed to be with Bryan, pretty much no one in that locker room would be wrestling.

Joseph Maroon is well-known scum with a very checkered past in regards to CTE and other head issues. He'll say whatever the guy who's paying him wants him to say.

I said I didn't want to go conspiracy theorist but hell with it, I'm going conspiracy theorist.

Every expert on the planet that Bryan went to cleared the guy except the one who everyone knows is a snake. Then all of a sudden, after two years, he comes up with this list of three guys that he trusts and, surprise surprise, they all clear him too. Maroon knew they'd clear him because literally everyone cleared him. Why did it take him so long to send him to these three guys?

WWE's been dealing with concussion lawsuits and allegations for quite a while now. What better way to make the company look like the great protectors of health than by being veeeery cautious in this situation? "See? We kept one of our biggest stars out of action for two years because we weren't sure if he was really okay. Pay no attention to the fact that we had to be dragged kicking and screaming into letting this guy become a star anyway and it was probably more convenient that he was sidelined and thus those stupid fans couldn't hijack our plans again."

And all the while, they've been setting up these programs for him against the Miz or Shane or Sami and Kevin, and it never made any sense because they were never going to be paid off. Except now they can be. For a while, I thought it was just classic WWE stupidity to drive feuds that they could never follow through on, but maybe it makes more sense that they knew they could actually follow through on them whenever they wanted.

"But wait," you say. "If that's the case, why'd it take them so long?"

Well, that probably has something to do with the fact that Daniel Bryan's contract is up on September 1st, 2018. That gives them just enough time to put him in a few great programs over the summer, with Nakamura or Styles or whoever you like, and keep him from walking and going to work for NJPW and ROH and PWG and PROGRESS and CMLL and any other company you could name. He'd be cleared in all of those places because everyone but WWE's upstanding house doctor Maroon cleared him already.

Look, I don't doubt that Bryan's injury past warranted a little concern, but I don't think it's at all significantly worse than any other wrestler in that locker room. Dolph Ziggler's had plenty of concussions and no one's batted an eyelid at letting him come back every time.

But I don't buy for one second that Daniel Bryan couldn't have been wrestling the last two years. I hope WWE's bullshit fails miserably and he leaves in September anyway.

Totally agree. How do you go from "We are absolutely sure this guy can never wrestle again" to "Everyone agrees there is NO SIGN AT ALL of prior brain injury"

Because everyone has agreed he can wrestle again for over a year now EXCEPT WWEs doctor

So Bryan did what he had to do to convince that doctor, by asking him what other evaluations he would trust. And he cleared them all.

Matt Taven's greatest wrestling accomplishment is being the best part of the horrid, ghastly, embarrassing Kingdom vs Anderson/Gallows series in New Japan a couple years ago.

Never have any interest in seeing the guy wrestle but he will always have my respect for bumping around like a crazy man and attempting to make those matches watchable.
