So has anyone gotten any relics from the infuse draw that didn't have an infuse

People were theorizing only the guaranteed one had infuse but it's looking like all the relics drawn from it do?

Which, not important here but may influence whether I draw on the OSB banner and makes me more hyped for the USB banner

Yeah I mostly picked the movies that give you the most character familiarity in the most condensed time with the best movies. I basically think that's all that's necessary too.

Well Winter Soldier is necessary for Civil War to work that's the only reason that one is needed but it's a great movie too so as said it's "why not"

Strictly speaking I agree with this but I kinda think Civil War introduces Scarlet Witch and Vision well enough and it's a much better movie.

Basically my list is just doing that but subbing Winter Soldier + Civil War for Avengers 2

Okay update

Noire's VA is as bad as I initially thought. Even the angry voice isn't as good as in Awakening.

It's like she thought to herself "what if I took the voice I did for Noire in Awakening and made it sound more like Peri?" Never a good idea!

Bleh. Well at least I won't mind foddering her for Infantry Rush once I find a good idea for it but it does make me disappointed because Noire is one of the only remaining Awakening characters I had much interest in (I think Vaike, Owain and Severa are the only others). ... maybe she added the Periness to simulate sun stroke and a normal Noire will be okay, you never know.

Cool

Farmed up to 20 orbs. Got Tana (Neutral) + Noire (-Atk/+Def) on the next 13 orbs (Not drawing green Innes isn't really very exciting for much, I don't want to draw green for merge units, and I already have a +1 merged Archer Innes). Bad nature for Noire but at least Tana's isn't bad. So 3 on banners in like 28 orbs. I've never had luck nearly this good ever.

I love this banner. Going to stop for now, though I may go back to this if I want Infantry Rush is good or Noire's VA isn't as bad as I initially thought.

If you want the Lopen approved super abridged viewing list, Drakeryn

Watch Avengers 1
Watch Winter Soldier
Watch Civil War
Watch Guardians of the Galaxy
Watch Infinity War

I would say those 5 are not only among the most important for continuity and getting the references and whatnot but also contain the majority of the top 5 movies for most people. I'm sure you have some people who like Thor Ragnarok or Black Panther or Iron Man or whatever more than one of these, but yeah.

Again this is all optional but like I said it's kinda like "why not watch these first" because I think anyone who likes the MCU even a little bit enjoys all 5 of those movies.

Like almost all the movies are fine and are good watches if you have extra time but this is definitely the most efficient route imo. (and imo most of them are better than Infinity War so the journey is worth it just for the journey in this case)

IMO this is more a problem with WWE in general than anything

Well you're not wrong. I don't think this is something that's really taught there any more. People are more concerned with getting their spots in and doing the same basic match with some different spots sprinkled in cause NXT/performance center teaches this.

There are people on the show that know better and will do matches differently for different builds though. And Mickie James when given time to actually have matches that matter is one of the few on the roster that's one of them is what I was getting at. Which by default makes her a better wrestler than most of the roster, for me.

I'd probably put her in the same tier as Kairi Sane myself but that may be not having seen enough of her stuff. I only really watched her feud with Meiko Satomura and I came out of that one more impressed with Meiko than Kairi. Not to say Kairi isn't great or anything.

But yeah Mickie is really good. She's not the most athletic or jaw dropping in the world, but she has a really good sense for what she can and can't do and what makes sense in a match given the build, which a lot of men can't even do. Like I remember in that feud with Becky Lynch I was talking about... they started with a lock-up but it was like... INTENSE, you know? Like they rolled out onto the floor and ept the lock up on each other and were all like RARRR.

Which it should have been because there was bad blood there. Meanwhile you see Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have a match start with a lock-up and it's... a lock-up. And I'm like "WHOO LUNATIC FRINGE"

Yeah MCU is actually really good about building the movies in a way where you can just dive into any one of them

But at the same time, the movies are generally quality and seeing previous ones definitely adds to seeing the later ones, so it's more a case of why not watch most of the other movies first?

Well I'm probably top 5 on the board in terms of watching joshi stuff (almost certainly behind voltch, Tom, NBIceman, might be number 4) and feel confident in saying Mickie more than holds her own against most of them.

Particularly since the quality of her competition is far lower than what they're generally with. Beth Phoenix was fine and I guess nowadays there's less of a gulf, but nowadays Mickie isn't really given the time to have hype matches. But she can still deliver today if given time. That Asuka match you have there was awesome, and her feud with Becky Lynch a bit over a year ago had some of the best you'll find in WWE too. She's probably the only women's wrestler active in WWE today outside of Asuka that really gets how matches work beyond "do cool moves"

Her feud with Trish was definitely the best women's storyline ever too and that contributes a lot for me too, though that take with a bit more salt as I'm sure there have been comparable or better joshi storylines that I simply don't have the viewership breadth to properly appreciate since my joshi viewing is more just watch random matches voltch recommends and/or matches with people I like booking in TEW->watch more from the ones of those lots that I like, so I can't fully appreciate a lot of the feuds there (though they do tell good stories in the ring and/or have brief feud summaries from the show or voltch so the feud storylines aren't completely lost on me)

Perfect was interesting because in his case it felt more like he just kinda gave up. Part of it was breaking down, sure, and I'm sure the pain made him dial it back, but like there are flashes of his old greatness even after 1993 when he was motivated, but they were rare times indeed.

Whereas Kurt never gave up. He just pushed and pushed and just utterly fell apart and we got to see it in action.

Perfect is kinda the smarter version of Kurt if that makes sense. Though he probably had even worse drug problems than Kurt given his early death so probably worse in some regards of being smart.

Very similar though yeah. Right down to being wasted by the guy on top.

Kurt's one of my all time favorites for sure. It's weird to say since he was a star during a boom period, but I kinda wish he was a big deal a little earlier or a little later for like, match sake. It seems like he missed a lot of potential great matches and feuds by being HHHeld down. Also sucks that I was never huge on Benoit who was another of his prolific feud partners.

We never saw Kurt vs Bret Hart, Kurt vs Mr Perfect. Or alternatively Kurt with a longer career and at peak condition vs guys like AJ Styles. Sure he had a quality run in TNA that did feature some good matches with AJ Styles, but AJ Styles wasn't nearly at his peak then and Kurt was already going downhill there. Not to mention it being in the incompetent TNA.

I do think breaking down is just something that's going to happen regardless of era with the guy cause he always goes at 100%, but yeah, he could've been so much more I think.

But I always tend to gravitate towards the guys that are (more or less, random appearances on ROH excepted) Japan exclusive whenever I get in the mood to watch it. Ishii and Yano are still my two favorites to watch because they do stuff that you just don't really see done remotely well in any form in the US. And if I wanna watch good all arounders I'm going to watch guys who are still current like Naito.

But you gave a convenient link to a full match there so I probably will watch that at least.

I wish I could laugh at it

I mean I don't even get upset primarily because it's in bad taste (and don't get me wrong it is in bad taste)

Cringey is definitely the right word. And we got months upon months of that.

It's not wrong to say my problems with him are mostly WWE booking, but some of it does extend to the man too. Like his Lucha Underground stuff is better but he still does some of those crappy 619 setups so his wrestling style has been permanently tainted to some extent. And while I primarily blame Vince for exploiting Eddie's death, Rey could have said no. I know the general idea is "well would you say no to that amount of money?" and if I'd had Rey's career till that point and could easily just go to Mexico or whatever exactly like he's doing now? I honestly don't think it would be that difficult.

It's kinda funny that Rey and Show are kinda opposite sides of the same thing for me and were ranked back to back. I like Show a lot relative to his skill because I find it easy to suspend disbelief for him, and I like Rey less relative to his skill because he's the least believable wrestler this side of Spike Dudley.

I'd probably rank Rey a lot lower actually. Dude has irritated me more than excited me for most of his career.

Real shame too because I do quite like his early WCW stuff, and his Lucha Underground stuff is completely fine too.

Unmasked he's wretched, but that wasn't too long so I won't hold it against him too much.

But the bigger problem is he's about the hardest guy for me to suspend disbelief for in all his other uses. Rey the giant killer was the worst thing, and WWE style Rey where he has a billion contrived ways to get a guy in position for a 619 is the worst. Also his finisher was really hard to believe except when it was the springboard hurricanrana pin. Drop the dime doesn't work cause it's a splash from a guy that weighs like 120lbs.

Also the Eddie Guerrero death exploitation. Good god.

If 343 million was considered a flop for many movies at all, even limiting to higher budget ones, the film industry would be long bankrupt by now. That's really all there is to it. If you want to be petty about figures and argue that spending was not the primary culprit in why a movie that was close to a top 200 all time grossing domestic film was a bust be my guest.

But yeah seriously Sephs is right unless you're splitting hairs and saying "half" is wrong he's generally correct on the idea.

343 million should be very profitable. Most movies, even the relatively bigger budget ones, would consider 343 million a huge success. Unless you're arguing people only go to see Star Wars movies because of the outlandish budgets. It's only really a flop relative to other Star Wars movies. Because it's topical, Ant-Man's budget was like $130 million and it made about as much as Solo domestically and it was considered a huge success. Now it made more on foreign ticket sales than Solo will, but even with Solo's figures it would be a success. And $130 million is not a cheap movie budget by any means.

Lots of disingenuous things:

1. Spider-Man is an established character, and not 1/10 as relevant as Black Panther in Civil War
2. Hulk and Thor are not in Civil War, nor are the Guardians of the Galaxy, so how are they relevant
3. Avengers Infinity War, the most directly relevant movie from Civil War, is going to come very close to Black Panther's domestic gross. (And exceed it worldwide but I digress)

Chalking Black Panther's role in Civil War up to "one cool fight scene" is heavily downplaying the relevance of the character there.

I'm not saying Cly's post is not relevant, just that saying it's more relevant than Civil War to the movie's success is rather ridiculous. It'll be some time before we see any other hero this might apply to as Black Panther was an outlier in the way he was introduced and we already missed our opportunity with Hawkeye/Black Widow I think, but if say Dr Strange had come out after Infinity War I would expect it to exceed its current gross by a good amount, as he's a very similar kind of character as far as mainstream recognition goes with a very similar amount of prominence in Infinity War (compared to Black Panther in Civil War)

I really don't care too much about anecdotes in this case. I mean the facts are just there-- Civil War grossed far too much for that to be a typical story. There are a lot more people that are "savvy about the MCU" than you'd think from that post. I'm not saying everyone who has seen Black Panther has seen every MCU movie, but I'd imagine most have seen at least the bigger hits.

Like, Black Panther is a hero with very little name value on his own. Of all the movies to say that about that may be one of the worst. If anything, Civil War introducing this awesome character that people weren't very familiar with and wanted to see more of probably drove a lot more people to see it than would have if he wasn't introduced in the movie or was a character with more brand value like Spider-Man. (where everyone and their mother already knows the origin story)

That's why guys like Lopen don't understand the success of Black Panther. To him, person who is savvy about the MCU, it's just another story. But to millions of people who don't watch this shit, it's a really cool story about an alternate ancestry for them - it's a home. Every MCU franchise, or even movie within a franchise, does something unique or interesting to draw in people. Ant Man is a heist movie. Winter Soldier is a spy thriller. Guardians of the Galaxy is a space comedy. These all draw in different crowds.

I think you are severely underestimating the overlap between people who saw Black Panther and people who saw him in Civil War first.

Most of the other origin story movies flesh out macguffins and/or are about characters that are very significant to the plot of other movies rather than just a dude who's one part of a 12 man fight scene and in the movie for like 10 minutes tops.

I would say Hulk is 100% skippable. Probably the Iron Man sequels. Thor 2 was ultimately irrelevant. Ant-Man would probably be #5 on the list of skippable movies just ahead of Spider-Man, and I imagine most people are going to think it's more skippable than they thought the first one was because sequels generally are in the franchise.

That's the only appearance he's made in any movie that wasn't Ant-Man.
