It's more because they are not only jealous, afraid of being slowly replaced my mutants and/or don't agree with the line evolution, but because like 90% of mutations aren't anything dangerous, and the very small few that are, aren't always evil all the time.

And that sucks for those dudes who have to be checked out but they still gotta be checked out.

What about the guy who can fly as his power? Why should he not have the same rights along with other non destructive or lesser mutant powers?

Arguably not.

He definately should not be allowed to play football or basketball for example.

But more to the point, yeah. He's gotta be registered for his or her own good as much as non mutants

What about those who do have potentially dangerous powers but haven't even done anything wrong yet, or ever will? Why not just treat everyone as an equal,

Because that led us to being T Minus 4 seconds away from the genocide of the entire human race.

while creating a back up plan to use against those specific ones who do abuse powers that they may have in the future?

What "back up plan" can you have for what "Specific ones" you don't even know about

Factor in that this the same government who thought a reasonable mutant control system was 20 foot tall giant robots and it's not hard to see why them having a list isn't ideal.

Yeah that's dumb

Gheb posted...
The vast majority of mutant abilities aren't dangerous and mutant abilities don't manifest until puberty. So the only way a registry would work would be by the government demanding people to self-identify upon their abilities manifesting. That or they go around and start invading people's lives to find out if they are mutants. People who for the most part are no more dangerous than you or me. It's a pretty terrible violation of our rights.

But it's not being a "Bad Guy" to take those lengths when the danger is so significant.

Again going back to Hamas, if you found out tomorrow that the leaders of Hamas could control minds or control the weather, would you be opposed to government intervention into relevant people's lives to contain that situation?

And even if you were, would you say people who weren't are "Bad Guys"?

What if your daughter or sister was mind controlled into being a sex slave for some creepy guy who can control minds? And then he made her commit suicide when he got bored with her?

nd while mutant terrorists like Magneto and Mystique are bad. Assigning their actions to all mutants is just straight racist.

But it's so not.

"Black people shouldn't use the front of the bus because they are inferior" is racist.

"Hey the guys who could potentially literally kill all humans on Earth should probably have a registry..." is reasonable.

IT's not comparable because the reason for the action is not driven by hatred or bias. It's driven by rational fear. Black people and Lesbians are not comparable to people who can control minds and control the weather.

Yeah it sucks for Little Billy who can make cars explode with his mind that despite not doing anything he is getting tarnished by the same brush as Big Susie who just murdered the entire population of Thailand but it's reasonable that he is.

It's not the same as Little Billy getting tarnished because he is black and Big Susie is also black and she murdered a guy. Because being black is not a superpower. People are not endangered because a guy is black.

I'm sorry but all humans on Earth being 4 seconds from being wiped out in the biggest possible genocide in history trumps any counter-argument

I get that it is a paper thin allegory for racial or sexual discrimination. But that doesn't fly when you think about it. Black people can't melt you with their mind, Lesbians don't control the weather.

I was watching one of the movies the other day, don't ask me which one because they are all the same but Picard was drugged into being like 4 seconds away from literally murdering every single human on Earth

Open question: If Lesbians could and once were 4 seconds away from murdering all 7 billion non lesbian people on Earth, would you still consider people who were deeply concerned about that "Bad Guys"? For wanting like a registry or safeguards put in place?

They really don't seem that unreasonable because literal supernatural powers exist.

Imagine if Islamic Extremeists could control the minds of all world leaders? Or if the KKK could literally manipulate the weather? Or if Dawkins could manipulate metal with his mind?

The world would be fucked.

If Hamas just mind-controlled every world leader, made them make Palestine it's own nation and then commit suicide along with the entire UN and Will Smith, would you really be outraged by someone going "Erm... Maybe we should do something about people who can literally control people's minds? Like a registry or lock them up or something?"

The Allegory only works if Superpowers don't exist and then it;s a story about superpowers I dont get it.

An Australian pajama company is facing backlash after pulling a controversial shirt from its website.

Bridie Harris, a woman from Melbourne, was shopping at Peter Alexander Sleepwear when she noticed a boys' pajama top emblazoned with the phrase Boys will be boys, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Concerned over the message it was sending, the mother messaged the company on Facebook.

"Boy wont be boys. Boys will be held accountable for their actions. I hate to see an Australian store, who makes such great pjs, put such a sexist statement on a t-shirt intended for young boys. Excusing boys of their behavior is not a step in the right direction. Its 2018, she wrote on June 20, according to the Herald.

Harris told the Herald the phrase didnt sit well with her because of the connotation it sent that men "tend to get away with stuff just because they are boys."

"I just think that it allows boys to do whatever they want because they are boys. It gives them an excuse for inappropriate behavior. If a girl hurts someone or does something, you never hear someone that says girls will be girls."

After taking her message into consideration, Peter Alexander pulled the shirt off its website Wednesday.

I just wanted to update you and again thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us and bringing this to our attention, a Peter Alexander spokesperson responded to Harris on social media

We do not tolerate the behavior that is being associated with this slogan. In the light of your feedback, we have decided to withdraw this item from sale, the spokesperson wrote.

However, after removing the shirt, the company has been inundated on social media with comments from angry customers who think Harris was being overly sensitive, arguing that Peter Alexander shouldnt have given in to her wishes.

When one person suggested people be mad at Harris and not the company, someone responded: But she didn't remove the top for sale, the store did that and they shouldn't have given into it.

Mexican restaurant celebrates world cup advancement by offering korean customers discount as thanks

Commenters have also been posting about other products on the companys Facebook page, sarcastically saying maybe those products should be pulled as well.

Perhaps the You're so fine! shirt should be taken from the shelves before someone sees it and decides that it encourages sexual harassment by the wearer? one person wrote.

Shame on you Peter Alexander for removing the Boys will be boys [pajamas]. Absolutely gutless. I expect your next range to be beige, baggy and unisex, someone else wrote.

Yes.

Libertarians still want a government, they are not anarchists. They just want it as small as possible.

If someone released a book detailing how to build homemade bombs or how to rape women into slavery and not get caught or whatever, one of the roles of a small government would still be to go "Okay that's fucked up we need to ban it."

Now you could argue that it should be up to state governments rather than federal to make that call as some issues will be grayer than others, such as a book that denies the holocaust and then says Jews should be killed.

But the bland basic question of "Can a libertarian support banning a book?" is instantly yes.

Instant example: You will struggle to find libertarians who are pro legalizing child porn.

There may be plenty of other fish in the sea, but not for Lawrence Tufnel which is why he orchestrated a very special proposal for his longtime girlfriend.

29-year-old Tufnel recently popped the question to 25-year-old Jasmine Robertson when they were both on an underwater tour of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

As the Perth couple was on a metal walkway overlooking the reef in Queensland, Tufnel turned to Robertson and pulled out the ring that had been secured inside the pocket of his swimming trunks. Their diving instructor then holds up a sign behind Tufnel saying: Jasmine Robertson, will you marry me?

Grinning, Tufnel indicated that she could simply give a thumbs up or thumbs down. Needless to say, she gave a thumbs up.

Tufnel says that he chose the unique proposal spot because he and Jasmine had gone diving for their first date six years ago.

We had done a lot of diving in the past, so when the idea came to me I knew it would be something special, said Tufnel

Jasmine had no idea what was going on. I just told her we were going underwater to see the reef, so she didnt know about all the planning behind the scenes.

In a fitting farewell to one of the closing Toys R Us stores, an anonymous donor bought all of the remaining toys so they could be donated to local children.

A staff member at the Triangle Town Center location in Raleigh, North Carolina told CBS that a mystery philanthropist had bought $1 million worth of toys.

Instead of closing up shop on the same day as other Toys R Us locations, the employees spent their final day at the store boxing up all of the goodies and preparing them for delivery.

While the news outlet was not able to give further details on the compassionate gesture, its an inspiring silver-lining to the toy companys closure.
