I heard one theory that some of the WMP's that were bundled with the game might have been defective, which would explain how incredibly polarizing the controls were at the time (people either found they worked well or found they were barely playable). No idea how true that was, but it makes a lot of sense to me, particularly where I'm guessing a good number of people who bought SS didn't have a WMP before then (because there wasn't much reason to).

The WiiU version had dual screen multiplayer, with one player playing on the gamepad and the other on the TV. Rendering the game twice took a toll on the system, though, so the framerate and enemy counts dropped when you did that.

The government wants slaves not corpses. In this case the people is the government's capital, without people the government cannot function. So going on wholesale slaughter of civilians is unwise because it deprives the government of power.

Depends how much you're paying on your mortgage. Provided it's comfortably within your income, it shouldn't make you poor, and given that you can sell your house (potentially for quite a bit more than you spent, if you get lucky with the real estate market), it is much more of an investment than renting would be. That's not to say that everyone should own instead of renting, of course, but a mortgage is hardly a financial death sentence.

I disagree. Almost all incels in real life are meek individuals. Sure they talk big online (like everyone else does) but in the real world most of them just don't have the nerve to talk to women out of a crippling fear of rejection. With legal prostitution they wouldn't have to bother with talking. They could just go to their local brothel tell the owner what their looking for and bam sex on demand for a little cash. Sure some prostitutes might pass on them but most wouldn't.

There's still the cost issue. A good many of them wouldn't be satisfied unless those prostitutes were free.

All of the non-England countries in the UK had their own languages, and still do in certain places. Irish Gaelic and Welsh have persisted better than Scottish Gaelic, though, which is so dead that Cape Breton has more Gaelic speakers than Scotland.

Building backwards compatibility into a console requires one of two things:

-The console's fundamental architecture closely resembles prior systems' to enough of an extent that you don't have to change that much to get older games running (Wii, GBC)
-The console includes hardware that is dedicated to running older games (DS)
(Note that my examples may not be the most accurate, because I'm not an expert here. I welcome corrections)

The former option imposes a pretty significant limit on the console's power, since new architecture is often developed for the sake of squeezing more power out of the little box than you could get with the older systems. The latter option limits power less, but still imposes a bit of a limit (space is finite, after all) and/or increases the system's size, plus it drives up the cost compared to just not doing that.

The question, then, is whether or not adding backwards compatibility provides enough benefit to justify those drawbacks. As we get into more and more powerful systems, and the previous generations get harder to emulate, that answer's often no.

All life sentences here are structured that way. First-degree murder carries an automatic sentence of life with 25 years before being eligible for parole. It was relatively recently that the criminal code was changed to allow such sentences to be applied consecutively, such that the guy who shot up a mosque a couple years ago is potentially facing 150 years (6*25) before eligibility for parole, or possibly only 25 if they apply his sentences simultaneously (which I don't see happening, dude's a dink).

There's a world of difference between wishing you could kill everyone and planning to do so.The charge was "conspiracy to commit murder," which is definitely appropriate. There's no "conspiracy to commit mass murder," which threw a bit of a wrench into the sentencing, but the judge presented the rationale that - had the plot not been stopped - the impact would have been pretty much the same as a terrorist act. So she got life with 10 years until she can apply for parole, 3 of which she's already served. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

When you run an emulator, you're basically running a second operating system (a gross oversimplification, but I think it works for this purpose), which in many cases involves altering how your computer runs in order to try and emulate fundamental differences in processor architecture. That can be extremely demanding once you get into more modern systems. In the case of consoles, they often aren't built with that kind of computational flexibility in mind, nor do they have much by way of spare power. If the system wasn't designed for backwards compatibility from the start, you may see performance suffer.

In the case of the PC, though, you're not emulating Morrowind. You're just playing it. A PC 20 years ago was fundamentally the same as a PC today, just slower. With really old games you sometimes do have to emulate the older operating system in order to play them, and can still run into issues (like the game speed being based on CPU speed, which can have some hilarious results with processors that are orders of magnitude faster), but it's a lot more straightforward than having to emulate a console.
