In other "what number did your QB pick" news, I'm happy that Cousins will stay #8, because a year ago I bought that vikings Bradford jersey (bad purchase, yeah, but it was only $50), and now I can just put a new nameplate on it or something

I was watching the Cousins press conference, and there one of the questions came from a guy named Sid Hartman, who has been covering MN sports his whole life. Today's his 98th birthday, and he's at the vikings kirk cousin press conference. The guy was born in 1920. His question was actually one of the better ones, and he still regularly writes articles. He also still carries an actual tape recorder everywhere

McKinnon is getting the second-highest annual salary for a RB now, and while the 49ers have money to burn this year, they could have spent it in other areas. In 2 or 3 years they'll probably be scrambling to get his contract off the books.

McKinnon is a good player but that's a lot of money. There must be a lot of incentives or something

It's weird that there are no problems with having an "official beer of the Minnesota Vikings" but having an official chewing tobacco/cigarette would be almost taboo nowadays

well the Skol thing has been around since the team was founded. It's a traditional Scandinavian word that means something like "cheers" apparently. And the fight song is called Skol Vikings.

But the skol chant is the chant they stole from the Iceland soccer team in 2016 and replaced the yelling with the word skol. It was kind of funny how angry some soccer fans got about them "stealing" the chant

And now Bradford is signing with AZ. I'm beating a dead horse, but that will be a really good signing if he can stay healthy. He's probably better than cousins without counting for injuries/health concerns.

It's still so weird how in 2016, Bradford was an ironman that took hit after hit and kept playing, and then in 2017 tweaked his knee and was mysteriously taken out for most of the season

The line had a stretch of at least a month where they didn't allow a sack (if I'm remembering right) but they got pretty leaky toward the end of the season. A less mobile QB would have been sacked a lot more than 10 times.

I feel like Elway took a big L on this but maybe not? Keenum would probably be considered the second-best guy available, but man, I can't get excited about him at all. He's going from one of the best lines in the league to Denver's shitty line; he'll be average-at-best, which is what they already have in Siemian.

The Vikings o line definitely improved a ton from 2016, but I'd say they they were average as opposed to one of the best o lines.
I'm pretty sure if cousins wasn't available, keenum would have been re-signed weeks ago. Toward the end of the season most of us assumed he would be starting in Minnesota in 2018.

Anyway, keenum can play well without good offensive line play. These are just 2 examples, but he goes full on Russell Wilson

My biggest fear is that the vikings will go all in on kirk, lose, and also lose on case/sam/teddy in free agency, and then be stuck without a good draft pick (like NYJ and Denver have) and be stuck right back in QB purgatory...Christian Ponder days all over again

Shamefully, I have been devouring NFL media the past couple weeks (I have nothing better to do at work, and in my actual life). Most of this is just smoke and mirrors of course, but plenty of Vikings people yes, but also national reports, ones with a lot of credibility. This is all just speculation at this point...one guy might say today it's a done deal with the vikings, and tomorrow he'll say the Jets will sign him. I could link you a bunch of stuff that doesn't matter, but one thing that stands out is that Denver has just under $24 mil in cap space (which can of course be changed) and MN has just over $48 mil
I think AZ has low cap, and NYJ has a lot, but word on the twittersphere is that A. the vikings will throw a shitload of money at him (as they should) and Cousins will take a bit less money to play for a better team (which I hope)

As you know I'm #TeamKirk, but if the vikings do end up signing him, the worst part will be whenever he throws an incomplete pass all the Tedheads will go "wtf, we paid 30 mil for this clown? Teddy would have made this that throw. Teddy's upside/potential/excuses blah blah blah"
