I've seen Besieged, and it looks awesome, but there's no chance my laptop can run it. Battle Brothers sounds amazing, and Rimworld/Don't Starve sound great as well.

I do have Kerbal Space Program, but I don't know if my laptop runs it.

Besieged does take some processing power, but I don't think it's optimized very well. One of the disadvantages of not having a big studio make it.

But yeah, Battle Bros is $30 regular price, which is overpriced for most people. For how much playtime I've gotten out of it, it would be worth it at full price for me personally, but I got it on sale at 66% off, which turned out to be a hell of a deal. Might not be a bad idea to toss those games on your wishlist and wait for them to go on sale again (which they do pretty often) and wait it out.
Battle Brothers was one of those games I got on a whim after reading a few reviews, and it's a fantastic game. They could make tons of money if they ported it to the Switch/consoles. It could maybe even work on android/iOS

I remember back in the old days of PotD/Gamefaqs, social media and the internet in general (for gaming) wasn't as nearly as developed as it is now. On consoles and steam nowadays, if you're looking to talk about a certain game, you can press pause and find an online community composed of direct players of the games. Plus sites like youtube and reddit have exploded. Plus, games have kind of changed. I remember how FF7 was in the top 50 games for years and years, because back in the day this site had the best FAQs. And now, way less people need step by step guides to games that gamefaqs could offer.

Ok here's my highly anticipated list of favorite indie games on steam. No particular order:

Rimworld - In this game, you control 3 space travelers whose ship crashes on an isolated (randomly generated) planet with no means of escape. You build a base and try to keep your colonists alive as long as you can. Throughout the game, the AI throws random events at you, both good and bad, that you have to deal with. Stuff like tribesman raiding, wild animal attacks, all kinds of stuff. There's a a ton of potential events that happen and each colony you make will be a lot different than the others. You control the colonists with this task system. When you assign an action, like planting crops, it adds it to the task list. You prioritize types of tasks for your colonists based on their skills, so if Colonist A has a high priority for woodcutting, he'll drop everything and go chop wood. Most of the time you will lose and your colonists will die tragic, horrifying deaths.

Don't Starve - It's kind of like Rimworld in the sense that you're stranded in the wilderness and the goal is to not die, but you control a single character and the gameplay is quite a bit different. official description: Dont Starve is an uncompromising wilderness survival game full of science and magic. Enter a strange and unexplored world full of strange creatures, dangers, and surprises. Gather resources to craft items and structures that match your survival style.

Battle Brothers - like Fire Emblem/FF Tactics combat where you lead a mercenary company, take on contracts, and try to last as long as you can. Official description (I'm going to use these from here on out):
Battle Brothers is a turn based tactical RPG which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign.

Mount and Blade: Warband - In a land torn asunder by incessant warfare, it is time to assemble your own band of hardened warriors and enter the fray. Lead your men into battle, expand your realm, and claim the ultimate prize: the throne of Calradia!

Kerbal Space Program: it's like the Kingdom Hearts gummi ship system except on meth. The games physics and huge variety of parts allows you to get insanely creative. Some of the shit people have built on youtube is insane.

In Kerbal Space Program, take charge of the space program for the alien race known as the Kerbals. You have access to an array of parts to assemble fully-functional spacecraft that flies (or doesnt) based on realistic aerodynamic and orbital physics. Launch your Kerbal crew into orbit and beyond (while keeping them alive) to explore moons and planets in the Kerbol solar system, constructing bases and space stations to expand the reach of your expedition.

Besiege - kind of like Kerbal, but with medieval siege engines. This is the most demanding of your computer out of this list, depending on how big/intricate your death machine is.
Besiege is a physics based building game in which you construct medieval siege engines and lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets. Build a machine which can crush windmills, wipe out battalions of brave soldiers and transport valuable resources, defending your creation against cannons, archers and whatever else the desperate enemies have at their disposal. Create a trundling behemoth, or take clumsily to the skies, and cause carnage in fully destructible environments. Ultimately, you must conquer every Kingdom by crippling their castles and killing their men and livestock, in as creative or clinical a manner as possible!

Cities: Skylines - like sim city, but I like it a lot more

Games that I'm not going to write about because they don't really need an introduction:
Stardew Valley (obv)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Terraria

We definitely played some RE6 together and we definitely had some snow misadventures. I don't think we played any full campaigns or anything though. Besides the snowmobiles the main thing i remember is running around punching zombies and occasionally messaging you that I didn't know what I was supposed to do and eventually the level was over because you completed the objectives. Maybe that's when we stopped playing together

Was this the demo co-op? I think it might have been, and then we both got the full game. I honestly can't remember tho....we've been going to this site for a very long time

Should I play any of the older RE games? They seem like they might really suck for somebody whose first (and still only) one is 4. I have no interest in 5 and 6, but 7 seems interesting enough if I end up getting a PS4 or Xbone

My first was RE4, and I played 5 and 6. 5 and 6 seemed cool on paper but they sucked, in my humble opinion. 4 is a classic

yeah it's definitely do-able. They've ported that game to like 18 systems at this point, might as well do the switch. Especially if it's only $5. If I had a car trip and I was bored, I'd play $5 for a few hours of portable RE4

I heard somewhere that the NBA was also looking at adding MLB style 1 game play-ins for a real playoff slot. I guess the idea behind is that the more teams that are potentially in contention the less tanking there will be. I don't love this idea but I like it better than the one slurpee brought up

I guess one good thing about that plan would be that it would eliminate the lottery (which nobody likes), but if has the potential to make really bad teams stay really bad, or if a team's star player gets hurt, can put them in a really bad spot

Yeah but that's also the problem, a shootout is like the antithesis to regular soccer. It's like if extra innings in baseball became a home run derby

Yes, that's why it's so awful having a shootout decide a gold medal. Shootout is fine for deciding who gets the extra point in regular season games after OT, but not the gold medal match at the Olympics. Imagine if game 7 of the world series or Stanley cup finals was decided by a home run derby/shootout

Did you read about how she got to the Olympics? I thought it was pretty interesting. She was eligible to compete for Hungary, where there apparently isn't any competition to make the team. She also found this loophole... You have to make the top 30 enough times in a certain kind of events, so she traveled around for 2 years going to events with 30 or less competitors
