Mass Effect 1 doesn't hold up on subsequent playthroughs. Planet exploration is a chore.

That's literally what holds it back, IMO. It feels like too much filler.

Mass Effect 2, which could be argued is nothing BUT filler, is just a fucking joy to play through. It's never tedious and boring like Mass Effect 1's planet exploration shit.

Mass Effect 3 is pretty much the same, but the story drags and the ending sucks.

I'm sick of buying AAA games that are not fun, but I'm supposed to think are masterpieces because the story is good or the graphics are great.

Uncharted 1-3 is like the poster children for this shit. Everyone on this board praises those games but they were some of the most uninspired, boring shit I ever played. And whenever I mention this, all I get is "Yeah, but the characters were good and there were a lot of cinematic moments."

But of course, this is just me. I don't think this feeling is the general reason *why* all these games are lagging in sales because not all of them are like this, but it's a trend that makes me very cautious when it comes to AAA single player games in general these days.

I finally took the time to play it and...I dunno. It was alright I guess.

I think my favorite part was trying to figure out the "trials" that unlocked the boss rematches (although, I guess I wasn't paying enough attention because I didn't realize you could just ask the village chiefs about them until I got through two of them)

But like the actual "dungeon" was just as lackluster as the others. I really don't understand why it took so long to come out. Also I thought the one hit kill part was kind of bullshitty

Like Human/Dino hybrids might be going too far, but even that would be a breath of fresh air compared to this.

I really fucking hate how Fallen Kingdom looks I guess.

It's because they're usually fat and lazy and don't even attempt to was hard to reach areas.

Also they spend all their money on funko pops and cheetos so they don't have any left over for deodorant.

Like I really can't articulate how fucking dumb I think this movie looks. Or not so much "dumb", but dumb AND boring.

I get it, they need to make a sequel. But like...can't we even try to go in a different direction?

Why not have it turn out that they were trying to weaponize dinosaurs and have them take over a military/research base? And they're trying to escape the base? Or even like...a crew has to go in and clean up the mess?

Why does it always have to be a god damn theme park followed by a "save the dinosaurs" thing?

I don't demand anything from games. I play what I think looks good. I complain about Uncharted because I specifically did buy the first three and hated them.

Unfortunately, most games that come out these days don't look that good to me. That is doubly true of Multiplayer games, believe it or not.

This is, of course, focusing on AAA games. I play tons of Indie games and enjoy them funny enough.

I agree, there are a ton of story based games I love.

But I feel that, as of late, a lot of games have gotten *too* linear or focus too much on presentation over gameplay.

Do I think the new Star Wars game would have been like that? Probably. I feel that way about Uncharted and apparently this person wrote for Uncharted but I can't blame all of my issues with the game on the writer alone as I didn't actually find anything bad about the story, I just felt the gameplay in all of the games was boring. (minus 4 which I never played)

Maybe if the story driven games didn't try their god damned hardest to be movies i would be more inclined to buy them

I might be crazy, but I could have sworn that Miyamoto himself compared Mario, Peach and Bowser to Popeye, Olive Oil and Bluto at one point in regards to how they're just supposed to be cartoon characters that can play various roles depending on the game.

So in that sense, Popeye is always a "sailor" even when he decides to run a diner, or become an iron worker. Same goes for Mario, who is a "plumber" (or was) even when he's saving the world, racing go karts or playing tennis.
