Honestly. I like every stage fairly evenly in Mario games. Like yeah some of em are tougher for sure but usually it's pretty satisfying to fail.

The worst of Genesis Sonic games have stretches where your hand is off the controller a lot (which honestly I think is what I meant more than vertical-- it's just the games have a fondness for lift platforms so they're pretty tied together) so it's a lot more of a slog.

Maybe. Or maybe I was pissed at the excess of bumpers and was just misremembering my actual beef with the level. Or maybe I hated both of them and mashed em together. But yeah actually Metropolis Zone was much worse now that I think about it. (and refresh myself on what it is by looking up the map)

Anyway I'm just saying I remember my experience with Sega Sonic games basically being "yeah that game was awesome except for that world" being a pretty persistent thing. Not something that happens in like Mario or Mega Man. That inconsistency kills in the discussion of best platformer for me.

Well, I guess Mega Man has those stupid ass blocks. But I got over those a lot quicker.

Marble Zone definitely has a lot of vertical in it. Granted a lot of that vertical is standing on platforms waiting for them to move you but yeah

I think Ike is a bit wacky in that most units that can double him can actually be one shorted by him. I think 31 is good if you have the ATK to back it up but if you're a defensive character it's kinda eh cause glass cannons can double you without getting killed by the coumterhit

There are probably ways to figure it out.

SPD in particular has wildly different value for different base values. I think 32 might actually be one of the worst base values to have there in that it's high enough that you're paying a lot from your stat total to attain it, but not high enough to reliably double things or avoid being doubled every time. Also high speed has less value as attack decreases.

Balance on defensive stats is generally bad unless they're both low or both high. You'd prefer one to jut out so you can bait attacks vs certain types and not die.

High HP is generally wasted on units that have low values on both defensive stats

Attack and Speed are more valuable than the other 3 stats in general

Just brief glance through the stats, knowing nothing about any discussions on this (maybe a lot of people think Jakob is actually awesome I don't know) top 5 worst units would probably be

1. Odin
2. Henry
3. Jakob
4. Merric
5. Jaffar

Were I to take a guess. But really Odin's kind of on an Island. Think Henry is pretty comparable to the other 4 honestly.

Hmm. I guess if HealAll exists, it's probably sufficient. I for some reason didn't think Dragon Warrior had those types of healing as standard.

Still think that removing the sword being necessary (and Ashley starts stunned, and then has a freakin sword in him, so really someone else needs to do it if you want to do it quickly) combined with skirmishing right off is enough of a detriment that it's not a given he's getting that off, though.

Yeah Odin's is definitely on a whole different level of bad. Like he has no good stats at all. At least Henry has good def out of the box, and a Spd that is so low you can punt it as your bane since you just accept you're getting doubled by everyone.

Though I think +10 Odin with Summoner Support wouldn't exactly be awful either.

Marble Hill Zone is not the only time Sonic Games have the bad kinda platforming

It's definitely the worst example but like Casino Night Zone IIRC is also pretty bad

Basically any time in the series where the majority of the platforming is vertical it's not a good time unless there are a ton of bumpers. It did get better over time but I feel like every game has at least one zone that shouldn't really be in a Sonic game.

The problem to me looks more like your non Raine party members kinda need Raine to make the party vaguely work. You kinda need Lloyd (or Regal) to extend combos long enough to stagger lock enemies enough for non Raine healing to be enough.

Like that team you posted probably has the hardest time of making long combos of any party configuration.

It's more a party composition thing than Raine is mandatory thing tbqh

No she isn't. I've beaten Normal, Hard, and most of Mania (didn't get stuck just got bored/distracted by other things) running Lloyd Zelos Sheena Genis for almost every boss.

You just need to be super aggressive with combo locking the enemy and good at blocking/dodging. Zelos/Kratos along with an item once in a while is as much healing as you really need.

Which is kinda the case for most games, really. If you run a squad without a healer, you need to actually use the fact that you have more output to your advantage. But if you do, it's usually fine.

Honestly I almost like Henry's stats as is. Defensive stat spreads can be good but you can't utterly tank both offensive stats to do it.

Like I think Robin and Matthew have deceptively decent stat spreads. Henry's is just... he can't really do anything without a special proc, and he's not even that good at tanking because he gets doubled by everything. Real shame.

My big doubt on healing up Ashley is

1. Combat is starting immediately since Magnus and Tusk have been drawn in. The chaos will make it harder to heal in those opening segments.
2. As I understand it the arena is small, so time is limited to begin with.
3. You need to remove the sword from him first otherwise healing isn't going to be effective. Which takes more time.
4. Healer Slime and Charlotte aren't great healers. Slime doesn't get respect for aptitude from me, and Charlotte is mostly a magical nuker and doesn't have a ton of healing spells to begin with, so while she has the aptitude she doesn't have great spells for it. Healer Slime might just get whacked through collateral damage, even.

I mean, he probably gets enough healing that he's not mortally wounded, but he's still going to be more gimped than say Fetch is.

People are pointing out that it's probably Leo as one of the silhouettes, but I really hope it's Henry instead (his cowl or whatever has a pretty similar shape so it could work). I would like a Henry without a garbo stat distribution. Fits a Halloween theme way better too.

Ideally as an axe as I usually made Axe Murderer Henry in the game instead of keeping him as a mage.

But realistically there's some mix of plot relevance and combat utility thrown in there too. Like I'll never pick characters I outright dislike, but I might pick a character I like a bit less than my mains if they seem particularly prominent in a certain part of the game or I want them for some sorta strategy or utility.

But I mean given I often run parties without any full healer in them, utility considerations are pretty minor.

Not really. It buries her finisher as usable against Nia Jax. It is fine, cause she can use it against anyone else. If anything it starts building another move of hers as "a thing that can routinely kill Nia Jax so now she has two killing weapons."

I mean I could maybe see her using The Bank Statement one time with some sorta exceptional circumstance. Like a Falls Count Anywhere match where she can basically KO Nia with some weird floor bump and then tear up some padding off the floor and put the padding gimmick between her and Nia to prevent her from rolling out. Something like that, I dunno. There are a lot of ways to do it but it should be more than "ha ha I hit my finisher on you GG" cause it shouldn't be that easy.

Spreadsheet says it's supposed to do 2 hits at 750 a pop. My Bahamut only does 1 hit, and each hit is usually weaker than each of Alexander's single hits to boot. Granted I got a Holy Boost Armor + Weapon so maybe that's not too weird, but only one hit is!

Sharpshooter also requires a lot less active suspension of disbelief in general. Like, once Bret has it on the guy and turns em over, at that point Gravity is doing the work in keeping em there to some extent and it's sorta on them to get out moreso than him needing to exert a ton to keep it in.

Sasha's like, exerting enough force that she's pulling back on their neck. Gravity is actively fighting her there. I fully believe that in a real fight Nia could just deadweight her and she couldn't apply the Bank Statement, because Sasha's arms are so scrawny. I also believe that Nia has a rock solid counter of just rolling onto her side and crushing Sasha.

If we assume that Vader has been put in a Sharpshooter, and is weakened, in a real fight I think it's at least feasible that Bret could keep him there.

If Sasha had a different submission finish that required less strength to maintain, or was a bit stronger looking I probably wouldn't mind-- it's just a bit too much though.

I don't mind Nia losing more, but I kinda hate Sasha tapping her out. It's just not credible. Sasha looks so scrawny and weak that she'd need some sorta exceptional leverage of situation to get that Bank Statement on her. If she was a little bigger or actually fit rather than just skinny I could maybe buy it, but like Nia could literally just thrash about and Sasha ain't holding that move in-- you could do it once in a great while in a huge moment where Nia's basically out of it, but not 3 times in a year.

Notes about the show:

Most of these differences were probably expected. (Though I assume most people expected me to just have Neville win-- I think there is actually some potential for Heel Enzo though so I'm running with it a bit) What's weird is I didn't expect the main event finish, in that in booking the show and choosing the winner as Strowman, Brock Lesnar tried to creative control block me as he refused to lose.

Now, if I felt this was realistic I might've just taken it gracefully, but I know there are ways to (possibly) "trick" your way around this without the screwjob finish by just not picking a winner and giving booking modifiers to the one you want to win. So I set Strowman to dominate, Strowman to be kept strong, Strowman to be protected, the match to end via stoppage, and just left the winner blank. I actually had an alternate finish and way to play out the storyline in mind for this if it flipped the other way, which is what I was expecting as Strowman was still a good 20 overness lower than Lesnar, but the game chose Strowman to win, so I ain't complaining.

I'm almost disappointed it worked, cause I felt like that could've been an interesting way to go with it too-- probably would've been less expected as well. But I do think this is the better way than the alternative I had in mind in any case (the ref screws Strowman by calling for a stoppage cause Strowman is in a Kimura for a long time and isn't fighting back, Strowman flips out, destroys Lesnar, and the feud continues till next month+ as Lesnar takes some time off injured, where I can hopefully build Strowman's overness to take the title off of him then)

Standard opener. The Miz defeats Jason Jordan to retain his IC Title. No BS win, just a clean skull crushing finale. (62)

Renee Young is backstage with John Cena. She asks if he's still having any lingering effects from Braun's assault with the ring steps two weeks ago. Cena says yeah he can still feel it, cause Braun is a monster among men, but he's just going to have to push through the pain to beat Roman tonight. (68)

Neville vs Enzo. Neville dominates for 3 minutes, then Enzo stumbles into the referee after getting kicked hard in the face. Ref staggers back, rubbing his eyes, Enzo kicks Neville square in the nuts and grabs the tights to win the Cruiserweight Title. (56) Enzo goes completely over the top with a celebration. Corey Graves berates it for being ridiculous and the others can't entirely disagree this time. (87)

Alexa Bliss d. Nia Jax, Emma, and Sasha to retain. Nia wipes out everyone, then is 3v1'd out of the match, triple powerbombed to the floor. Emma takes the pin. (49)

Finn Balor d. Bray Wyatt clean. (72)

Cesaro & Sheamus v Ambrose & Rollins. Plays out identically to the original match, including Cesaro biting the ring post. However, when Rollins is super powerbombed from the top rope onto Ambrose, Ambrose stays down. Cesaro & Sheamus win the titles. (81)

Renee is backstage with Roman. Without a prompt, he goes into detail about the tremendous pain he's experiencing from two power slams this Monday, and says he has to head to the ring before she can ask further questions. (71)

Roman vs Cena. Cena is clearly having issues with his back the whole match. Roman seems more or less fine despite his diatribe before the match. Cena can't keep Roman down with his AA, then struggles doing his rolling AA, dropping Roman, who capitalizes on this slight hesitation, spearing him dead for the win. (75) Roman helps Cena up after the match, giving him an almost patronizing look, but offers his hand in a handshake. Cena accepts... during the handshake, Roman says... "hey, better luck next time, champ" with a smirk. Cena shakes his head, pulls Roman in and lays Roman out with an AA. The audience cheers this. Cena takes in the cheers, thanking the audience excessively and making it seem like he may be gone for some time, and heads to the back... Roman slowly recovers and is like "what the hell was that for?" (80)

Braun and Brock have a ridiculous match. An opening Running Powerslam has Braun in the driver's seat immediately. Braun uses some of Brock's down time to push two of the announce tables around ringside closer to the ring in parallel with one another. Brock resists with some suplexes, but ultimately Braun is undeterred. Towards the end of the match, Braun hurls Brock from the ring over the top and through the two announce tables. The ref doesn't call for the bell as the announcers explain they've been told to have some leniency. Braun hurls Lesnar back into the ring, hits some more 1... 2... 3... 4... Running Powerslams. Lesnar is coughing up blood, clearly no longer defending himself. The ref calls for the bell. Braun wins the title after about 10 minutes of this chaos. (66)

Braun Strowman celebrates his win. A clearly severely wounded Brock Lesnar stumbles to his feet, LIVID at the referee for calling for the bell as Heyman shouts obscenities at the ref. Strowman turns around, pissed. He shows no mercy, and scoops the wounded Lesnar up, slams him, drags him out of the ring, up the ramp... hurls him through the display panels on the stage to SPARKZ, and BRAUUGRRHHHHGHHHHs to close the show as Heyman looks on in horror. (99)

Like it just feels so fake. "Yeah these guys are all on the same show of course they'll work together with no more justification than a PPV says they're fighting the other show."

I think I'd prefer just traditional Survivor Series matches with teams that make sense.

I kinda agree that a character being stuck in dumb situations is more on the writing of the show overall being bad and not the character, but DC is also claiming it happened multiple times so yeah I dunno. There does become a point where it becomes suitable to start docking the character for it, particularly if it starts becoming the norm for them rather than the exception.

It's fucking unwatchable. It's three minutes of actual content, recap, commercial, back to recap then three more minutes back to commercial. It's an exaggeration but honestly not much of one. Holy shit I didn't realize. I'm not sure I can do it.

True story it takes me on average about an hour to watch the entirety of Raw. Particularly good Raws or ones where I'm more patient and only skip recaps or stupid masturbatory videos, maybe an hour and a half. Smackdown isn't quite as bad, but that's mostly because they have less self promotion videos and better segments on average I think.

As is the case with any anecdotal reports of randomization, you tend to hear about the anomalies way more than the norm.

While this is true, you do get a lot more amateur programmers in Mobile Gaming so I do think people are perhaps overly eager to handwave any issues claiming some sort of anecdotal bias.

Like, I remember I used to play WWE Supercard and it took a ton of complaining about the clearly broken RNG (probably about 90% of the Super Rares drawn were from a set of like 20% of the pool-- and because you played other people's decks it was clearly obvious everyone was having this issue as the 20% weren't even the best super rares or anything but they were everywhere) for the devs to actually patch it. They denied any issue with it till the end, and you even had some players white knighting and saying "naw it's just bias," but eventually the rates mysteriously changed to something resembling rates you'd actually expect.

I've had several streaks of 20 pulls with no 4* since this game has come out. I think it all normalizes in the end as my rate seems to be higher than 1/5 when not in those streaks but I almost feel like there's something slightly defective with the RNG in this game.

Also just for the record I'm considering WWE itself a "backseat booker" in this diary even after this point, despite not using their show cards as the basis for my shows anymore.

Now of course, I'm going to be pretty liberal with changing stuff, but if WWE does an idea I like, I will probably use it in some form. I imagine the longer it goes the less often we're going to be able to even have any sort of overlap just because I'll have diverged too much for their storyline to make any sense, but you know.

That and PRIZES will probably involve giving some control directly (The prize is already in mind I just don't want to reveal it yet as it spoils PLOTZ to reveal it so early), so yeah, input is definitely welcome.
