I've seen the trailer. and it just sounds like it won't work. especially as just one movie and not a trilogy. maybe if it told his entire life story up til the moment he meets Obi Wan. that might work. but that's not what they are doing.

My original take on the "Cloverfield" franchise was that it's an anthology series that could take place on any kind of Earth.

This new movie basically gives them the freedom to do just that without having the audience being forced to try and make them work within the same dimension/Earth/timeline.

But the problem with that is the online campaigns of the first two that connect them to the tagaruto company. They were on the same website

But that was not the same Earth where the original Cloverfield monster appeared. Cloverfield 2008 Earth was another dimension's Earth that had the monster appear.

Like the author said in the interview (it was quick and easy to miss), using the Shepherd would potentially allow creatures to appear in the past, and in other dimensions. This movie was definitely not 2008! And if it were that Earth but years later, they would have already known about the monsters, and wouldn't.

I think 10 Cloverfield Lane could be C1's Earth years later, it's possible part of the world was disrupted by the invsion and the rest kept on doing stuff like making iPhone 6 :P

So basically nothing makes sense right now and all we can hope for is something from JJ to make these stories make sense

Cloverfield took place in 2008 in one dimension. This new film I didn't see what the year is, but it seems to be further in the future. Wouldn't it stand to reason that the alien/monster/whatever could be much larger in this future dimension?

I will agree they made it ridiculously huge, but we don't know how high those clouds were either :P

Hated it.

Had nothing to do with the previous two Cloverfield movies.

It had more to do with the first movie than the second one did, even if it was incredibly obvious it was all forced in there.

And Im pretty sure the Cloverfield station that falls to earth is the satellite from the end of the first movie in the background

It was pretty obvious that all of the Earth scenes were basically shoehorned in to connect this shite to the first two movies. At least they can now do whatever the hell they want the franchise because of that one onscreen interview.

Great marketing but the movie was terrible.

It didnt show how high up he was, it just showed him going through the clouds. There are skyscrapers that go higher than the clouds do.

But youre right, everything from earth was added later, as were all the mentions to the Cloverfield space station and the Cloverfield paradox. And the movie didnt even really make all that much sense. And where were the aliens from the second one?

It wasnt awful, it just wasnt good. It was very disappointing for me, to be honest.

But youre right, now that the movies are (poorly) connected, they can do anything they want with them. Maybe even make a real sequel instead of buying somebody elses movie and changing the title!
