It had more to do with the first movie than the second one did, even if it was incredibly obvious it was all forced in there. In field goal position Matt Ryan gets sacked and theyre forced to punt? This is easy to say for me since they won, and youre right to question it, but I think they made the right decision considering who they were playing and how close they were to dethroning them

This is all wrong I've only experienced the ad campaign from an aggregate source someone posted on the movie board back then but that seemed to be the jist of it. There's some energy supplement that they are getting from the ocean. Monster inexplicably wakes up starts attacking. First scene on found footage has a ufo striking the ocean. Semi right. Theyre getting it FROM the monster. And its not a ufo, its a satellite, which is what kinda connects to the second movie because thats the department John Goodmans character worked in. What woke the monster was the drilling. Thanks a little bit more of it is coming back to be now. But there has to be more with the satellite. If all that's the only case it seems like a really random detail to add to make a loose connection with an unrelated movie. Well the real biggest connection between the movies is the Japanese company tagaruto. They were the ones that were mining the monster for the seabed nectar that they were putting in Slusho (which is basically JJ Abrahams calling card), they were the ones that OWN the satellite that fell, they woke up the monster in the first one, they were the company that John Goodman worked for and the guy in the first movie had gotten a job with in Japan. Theyre the true connection.

Do you have anything that says hey we'll rebrand this one movie these guys are doing, all we got to do is shoot a few things extra to make them connect. Thats exactly the case. They bought the movies and changed them to Cloverfield movies. I have nothing wrong with that (so far) because 10 Cloverfield lane was amazing and the internet campaign was incredible

I still need to see the first movie but I can't see how that, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and this movie fit together in any decent way The main problem I had with the second one fitting with the first one is if they are in the same universe, then everybody in the second one should know what happened in the first one and not be surprised by the alien attack at the end.. I guess it could have been covered up? But not really. Its established when the first movie takes place, there is the date at the bottom of the screen like the whole time, and they could have made the second movie take place at the same time very easily, but they showed smart phones and stuff which ruins that. For me, anyway.

I could swear they said he fell from space No, a satellite fell from space. He was living under water. As described from JJ Abrahams he was a baby who didnt know what was going on. They never specifically said he wasnt an alien, but its pretty clear they had originally planned on him being a creature that just lived underground and was awoken by the tagaruto company (which is where the guy in the first movie was going to work and where John Goodman worked in the second one)

It was originally a movie called god particle that they bought and changed into a Cloverfield movie, just like 10 Cloverfield lane was a movie called the cellar that they changed into a Cloverfield movie. The actors had no idea they were filming a Cloverfield movie. The problem with them explaining the monster is they already have in the online advertising campaign. Theyre going to have to retcon the story if theyre planning on making Clovie an alien, which will be sad for me but Ill be okay if they at least do a good job with it
