They may open up space time and invite in monsters in the past, in the future, and in other dimensions. So very easily a 2008 and 2016 dimension each could have experienced a sudden influx of aliens or whatever is going on That ties things in pretty well. It still doesn't mesh in feeling This movie was enjoyable but less so to consider it attached to the rest. It was pretty obvious that all of the Earth scenes were basically shoehorned in to connect this shite to the first two movies. At least they can now do whatever the hell they want the franchise because of that one onscreen interview. It didnt show how high up he was, it just showed him going through the clouds. There are skyscrapers that go higher than the clouds do. But youre right, everything from earth was added later, as were all the mentions to the Cloverfield space station and the Cloverfield paradox. And the movie didnt even really make all that much sense. And where were the aliens from the second one? It wasnt awful, it just wasnt good. It was very disappointing for me, to be honest. But youre right, now that the movies are (poorly) connected, they can do anything they want with them.
