Except it isn't? Sith usually want to go for power grabs. Kylo gives the impression that he just wants to burn everything prophecy-related to the ground

I mean he has no reason to try and maintain whatever the hell Snoke was going for with the Order (it was literally just a retread of the Empire sprung up by guys who really missed the Empire after it died). All Kylo wants to do at this point is kill every last thing that might suggest the Force telling him what to do. I guess he could use the Order's troops for that

I didn't care about Kylo in the first movie, but I'm a solid fan of Kylo Ren: The Universe's Butt Monkey. He's what would have happened if instead of Anakin being super special awesome at everything, he was just kind of okay at everything yet still had the same expectations shoved upon him

Really the "Empire" as it stands now is in a sorry state. Not as bad as the Rebels maybe, but they just lost their competent scary leader guy and replaced him with a psycho kid and his sniveling lieutenant whose only loyalty is whether or not he thinks he can off Kylo without being strangled

(Also it's super funny that Snoke apparently got that prophecy entirely right, even if he was fatally misinterpreting it. So by chopping off the face of "YOUR DESTINY", Kylo was playing right into destiny)

Kylo didn't even kill Snoke because "OMG I'm light side and good again", he killed him because Snoke was the embodiment of every bit of prophecy related bullshit he hated. Like Snoke said right before he ate it, that made him Kylo's real enemy

I think you're missing the point of Kylo's whole character arc, that he's *supposed* to be the big hero of prophecy whether it's for Light or Dark, but he's not good enough for either. He was too angsty for the Jedi, he couldn't live up to Snoke's standards for evil. Poor dude keeps getting shoved into one side or another's cosmic wish fulfillment and all it's done is make him more and more mad that the universe doesn't work like everyone keeps telling him it does. He is a walking subversion of the whole idea of a Chosen One

Killing Snoke midway was brilliant in the sense of how it leaves Kylo with no damn purpose at all except to murder every bit of "FULFILL YOUR DESTINY" bullshit he can find. I kind of expect him to pull a Darth Nihilus and try to kill the Force in general. Seems like the logical step

The only way for Kylo to "win" thematically is to pull a Luke and go live on an island for the rest of his life, rejecting every last bit of prophecy the universe sees fit to throw at him (because it's clear that he can't live up to any of it). He will most likely not because he can't stop throwing temper tantrums

Also Kylo managed to somehow not do many things overly evil in this movie...mainly because it's become a plot point that he's an abject failure at anything he tries. He was supposed to be the hope of the Jedi, he fails. He was supposed to be the new Vader, he fails. He decides he wants to say screw it and embrace nihilism, but he's too nice to kill Leia or Rey (and Luke makes him look stupid), he fails
