People like functionality and options. A console not having something its competitors have is absolutely a bad thing

Though yes, I grant you, not being able to browse the internet is not that big a deal. However, Netflix on PS4 has been great for me since I moved. My TV is not a smart TV, and my laptop doesn't have an HDMI port, so it's actually my only option for Netflix-on-TV without buying something else. That's a pretty big deal and it would be a shame if PS4 didn't have it but like the Xbone did.

July 13th, 2018 is the day when everything happened. It was a Ruin ruined the Wrestling Industry. How it got a Friday I do not know but anyways, it was a Match between two men that we have become to know so well.

XIII General Manager of Ruin and Tom General Manager of Combat for total control over the UCA and the other man was FIRED!

And after an overtime battle, it was XIII who gained complete control and all hell broke loose!

Welp looks like this thing needs to stick around another 4-5 months after Epopmania so we can have this match

A match featuring all of the UCA's champions, the Master of Taybles AND the Jester. This is an absolutely epic way to close out 2013 - the second ever EHIACTLCC match and the first ever triple-threat version. Here are the rules:
PHASE ONE: All users start with 3 points, users may hurt 1 per hour.
PHASE TWO: Once only 6 remain, competitors move from the Chamber to the HiaC TLC, and all users go back to 5 points. At that point, hurt once per hour rules begin again.
PHASE THREE: When 2 users remain TLC rules apply. 3 votes in a row for a user means they win. If no one gets 3 votes in a row by the end of the match then table and chair stipulations will be used to count the winner.
For tables, a vote with a 0 message ID will count triple.
For chairs, if a user get two votes in a row every vote for them counts double until their opponent can get two votes in a row, at which point they take the chair for themselves.

Incredibles 1 had a teaser of him trying to put on his super suit while his wife called him for dinner and I don't think that specifically was in the movie. Ratatouille had this frantic kitchen chase with all of the chefs trying to catch/kill Remy (bastards) which wasn't actually in the movie.

Rick and Morty is fucking amazing but it's ambitious and snappy and super cynical. I don't think there's really anything cynical about Stranger Things. It's dark at times (many times) but not in an incisive, cutting way like R+M. Stranger Things is dark like Harry Potter or something is dark. That also helps it appeal to more of a range of people.

Well that's the thing, as I mentioned with my list Rick & Morty was a lot more popular. Despite not having the same mass appeal as Stranger Things. But I get that popularity as most of the fanbase has a really strong presence on the Internet. So the massive amounts of memes and advertising make sense there. But when ST's fanbase is mostly parents the Internet popularity doesn't make sense to me.

It's not mostly parents. It's parents additionally.

Also "the internet" is older now, so "parents" can play a big role in something becoming internet-popular. Most people who have posted ITT are 80s kids, and several have children of their own I think. (I'm a 90s kid but only by 4 months).

Something I've been wondering.

Since Gen 4, in particular HGSS, there's been an upswing in the number of legendaries to find in the postgame. ORAS particularly had dozens of them. But all of them feel like they've had legendaries hiding in particularly obscure places or what have you. Since HGSS I've had absolutely no issue with using a walkthrough or guide, using Serebii or Bulbapedia, to find all the postgame stuff. For most games I think that would feel maybe a little dirty, like cheating, but I've never had any problem with doing it in Pokemon. It creates almost like a checklist to go through. But to me, that use of outside sources to fully complete the game is unique to Pokemon, as far as I'm aware.

My question is this - have any of you actually done all the postgame stuff of a Pokemon game released in the last decade without the use of outside sources? I feel like there's no way I'd ever have the patience to track down all the ORAS legendaries without using the net to find out exactly when and where to go places to catch them.

Yeah the big thing is the broadness of its appeal, across all ages, which means it's easy discussion on almost any platform.

I can't really recommend Rick and Morty to my parents or even most of my similarly-aged friends. It fits a niche perfect for me and some others, but thats it. Stranger Things, though...I don't know many western people I wouldn't be able to recommend that to.

Also, the kids are charming and very likeable. That helps. They're untainted, they don't have "haters". It leads to a more positive feel when discussing the show I think.

Just to name a few, and aside from Rick and Morty. None of them have gotten the same amount of hype. Even when their new seasons air. All four of these I consider significantly better than Stranger Things

I mean look at that list. I know for a fact my parents both wouldn't get and would actively dislike Always Sunny. It's too depraved for them, and many others, and absolutely fits more of a niche. You can say the same thing for Kimmy Schmidt and maybe even B99.

I mean I know very little about the DC comic universe or the movie industry, but I'm pretty sure all the Average Joes of the world could plan out a better DC movie line than what we're getting. I mean nobody would even really care if DC just used the same formula Marvel used, but they apparently didn't want to do that for whatever reason. At least they're killing it in tv shows, but holy shit they have tons of the biggest superhero names in the world and are giving us slop for movies for the most part

I wonder how much of this, if at all, is to do with MCU movies being made by Marvel itself while DC is being made by WB. Like I wonder if the comic guys being the ones making the movies leads to the adaptation from page to screen being better or the humour being better or something.

I definitely think Marvel hire a thousand times better, both in front of and behind the camera. Like I remember being so surprised that they got Whedon for Avengers 1 but it was such a strong choice.

That said I do think the bubble on superhero movies might burst just a little bit after Infinity War.

When you build towards something for a decade like that, everything afterwards is surely going to feel like some kind of comedown. The weight of the Universe is already starting to strain things I think.

So maybe they were right to try and play catchup rather than put all the long-term planning into Justice League only to get to its release in, say, 2020 and find a smaller market to work in. They might get more money releasing now than if they waited, even if the movie ends up being worse.

I mean I certainly don't think these superhero movies are going to pull in this level of money forever. And I wouldn't be surprised if Infinity War is a bit of a turning point.

Justice League I honestly don't understand the perceived need to rush into it. Suicide Squad yeah no one's going to watch movies about any of the characters that aren't Will Smith or Harley Quinn but... why can't Flash or Aquaman get movies?

It's like Marvel put this awesome cinematic universe formula right on the table, and the reaction is to try and skip all the component movies to go straight to their version of the Avengers to try and maximize money. It doesn't work that way.

All you do is take a sure-fire winning idea like literally Batman fighting Superman and add all the build to Justice League to that.

The whole planning of this thing was horrendously fucked. And it wouldn't be so bad but the way it affected BvS, which could have been amazing (because, again, Batman fighting Superman is box office), is absolutely unforgivable.
