At Exile, I will challenge davidponte for the MELEE MAYHEM title.

I was cheaply beaten to an Undisputed Title shot and some may see this as some form of a consolation prize, but make no mistake about it, I would have gone after the MELEE MAYHEM title eventually either way. It is my desire to hold all of the UCA's titles one last time before we shut the doors, and, yes, it is my desire to reach that 1000-day target. But that's unlikely and difficult. What's more important is that I need the MELEE and Undisputed titles to complete the set.

I want to make that circuit because I have an intimate relationship with all the titles. The LW title, which defined the early stages of my career and which I elevated the status of by having one of the all-time great feuds with Ayvuir. The tag titles...I don't need to talk about my pedigree with the tag titles! The Undisputed Title, with which I created the UCA's very own Montreal Screwjob when I Won The Undisputed Title By Tricking You All Into Thinking I Was Rad Link 5. (see http://b8uca.wikia.com/wiki/I_won_the_title_by_tricking_you_all_into_thinking_I_was_Rad_Link_5 for more information about how I Won The Title By Tricking You All Into Thinking I Was Rad Link 5). So much history with all of those titles.

But the MELEE MAYHEM title...well. It's a title I have won on multiple occasions, and I do feel an affinity towards it because of that, and I have some good memories of it. Winning it in that tag match against eddv and Maniac when the tag titles were also on the line, beating Stevie for it, facing off with GTM in Last Man Standing, and last year, when I escaped Dr_Football's surgery table to take the title from none other than...davidponte.

But I have to admit - I am not as enduring a part of that title's legacy as I would like. Unlike the other three titles, the MELEE title's legacy is founded more in the battles of people like Maniac, like Apollo, DP, Solio. My failure to establish myself as one of the absolute greatest MELEE competitors...that is the sole aspect of my legacy that is not perfect. I need this. I have proven time and time again that I am the greatest UCAer ever, with my track record, my defeat of Jakyl on the grandest stage, my innovations. But I want to prove it beyond even the shadow of a doubt.

And that's what I'll do. I'm sure to davidponte I am one of his greatest rivals, but to me...well, he is an excellent competitor and a rival to respect. But not too much - I have beaten the very best of the rest in big-match situations, and david, for all his talents, will go the same way at Exile. Lawyer or not.

Not really - Kylo was A) heavily injured and B) clearly toying with Finn despite that, ending the fight once his toying got too sloppy and Finn managed to get a single hit in.

Like Deadpool. Deadpool is another origin story but done in a unique enough way to hide (but not eschew entirely) those trappings.

(Then again Deadpool doesn't so much hide them as shove the tropes right in your face, but that's sort of how they hide it.)

There's definitely a formula but they touch on different genre stuff enough to keep things interesting. The change in tone between Thor 2 and 3, or GotG and Civil War, or even Iron Man and Cap 1, to go way back, has been quite well-done.

A few years ago I played RE4 on the PS2 on Professional mode. Hadn't done that before iirc. Maybe I did it once on the GameCube when it was first released but don't remember.

But basically it got to the part where the giant Salazar statue is chasing you and you have to mash buttons to climb up once the bridge collapses. I kept fucking falling. I was absolutely livid with the game. It briefly fell out of my top 10 of all time because I thought they'd managed to fuck it up so spectacularly on the hardest difficulty by making this button-mashing section unfairly hard.

Then I switched to my old Dualshock 1 - the only first-party controller I had left that would work on PS2 - and did it first time. Third party controllers are shitty.

So, to sum up:

Played MGS2 Hard mode on the PS2 like 12 years ago. Struggled at the button-mashing section, and I think it was because I was using a third-party controller.
Played MGS2 HD Version Euro-Extreme on PS3 like 3 or 4 years ago. Beat the button-mashing section after only a couple of tries, and I think it was because I was using a Dualshock 3.

The thing that put me off more than anything was the button mashing with Solidus on top of Arsenal, but that was fine.

It's a fucking minute long at a speed I can maintain for maybe 30 seconds. It's pretty bad.

I had to get a friend to take over for like 10 seconds in the middle of it to get through. Lost tons of health in the transitions, but it worked.

I think I did die once but hard mode on ps2 took like an hour. Either they made it easier on euro extreme or I was using a third-party controller on ps2 like I said.

I always thought I was pretty bad at button-mashing tbh

I honestly didn't play extreme for over a decade. Finally did it on the HD version.

The thing that put me off more than anything was the button mashing with Solidus on top of Arsenal, but that was fine. I remember it being a real killer in hard mode on the ps2 but maybe I was using a less-responsive third party controller back then. So the whole time I was worrying about one of the least stressful parts of the whole experience. The hardest part was probably the RAY fight actually. I think mine lasted 20m+ because I was so defensive.

Also it has some cool strategy to it too. Hitting them in the head straight away without hitting them in the knee is something I would do from time to time to keep the ones on the outside stunned. Stops them from firing missiles so much. And the risk/reward of luring it into firing the mouth laser so you could hit it while it was firing and get bigger damage.

Really good and often overlooked fight

Also Crying Wolf is definitely superior gameplay-wise, but Sniper is a more memorable fight. Partly nostalgia but partly because it's way more emotionally charged. In a game like MGS that's probably more important. Gameplay-wise the best one overall is The End, but he would probably be third on my list behind Liquid Ocelot and The Boss for a similar reason.

I found it brilliantly tense on the harder difficulties. You need virtual perfection over a reasonably long length of time.
