The second episode of Katana Maidens addressed every lingering concern I had after the first one, so that's cool. I have a feeling that this anime is going to be really good. It's my third favorite of the season so far after Yuru Camp and citrus.

I watched more new episodes of the season. How to Keep a Mummy is super cute. Maerchen Maedchen didn't get quite far enough in one episode for me to form much of an opinion on it but I'm definitely intrigued. Lastly, Ms. Koizumi continues to suck, god damn. I actually skipped past some of the ramen porn just because I couldn't take it anymore. I'm breaking my own rule and dropping this at episode two.

I also finished Gamers! It was entertaining but by the end I was kind of glad it was over, the misunderstandings became stressful after awhile. Also that last episode was... weird.

Man, I am loving Yuru Camp. I'm not usually the type to laugh out loud at things (I usually just enjoy comedy internally, if that makes any sense) but episode two managed a few actual laughs from me. Besides that, it's just... calming to watch. I don't know enough about art styles to really put this into words, but I also love the art style.

Episode one of After the Rain was pretty good too.

The first episode of Violet Evergarden was indeed very good, I'm excited to watch more. My only fear is that they're going to treat Gilbert being dead (I assume) as some big twist eventually when it really isn't. Then again they've also made it super obvious so hopefully they won't try to go that route. I suppose he could be alive, too, but... I think that would undermine a lot of things so I hope not.

I also gave in to peer pressure due to discussions here again and started watching Gamers, though I'm only seven episodes in. It is impressive how far these five characters are managing to carry their misunderstandings. I wouldn't call it my favorite comedy of 2017 (at the moment it would be... fifth? Maybe sixth depending on what counts as a comedy) but it's still good.

Hell yeah they were cool!

I would've liked a another season too but I was also okay with how WCW ended. At this point I'm halfway expecting anime adaptations to let me down in some way by the ending but this one closed all the plot points I cared about while also managing to make it clear how things might progress if it did continue.

The conversation in the Anime Awards topic eventually mentioned Witch Craft Works so I decided to see what that was about on a whim... and then I binged the whole thing in one night. Kokoro may have given it a 2/10 but I though it was great! The characters were all a lot of fun (special mention to the group of five Tower witches) and those fight scenes were awesome. One of the earlier ones where Kagari absorbed the bullets, dropped them to the floor, and then aimed a finger gun at the other witch and said 'bang' before exploding the whole store, oh my god that was so hype.

Nah, Hinata was good! It was mostly that Plan A was 'seduce a crewmember' and it devolved into a silly chase scene when that predictably failed. What made it even more jarring was that Plan B (talking to her mother's old teammates) was reasonable and actually worked. It felt like they threw the chase scene in because they needed to fill a laugh quota but it was so forced that it didn't work for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying the show a lot. Ep2 just wasn't as good as Ep1!

On that note, I felt that the second episode of A Place Further Than the Universe was a bit of a step down from the first. It became way too silly at times.

I've watched a few more first episodes of the season. I don't know a damn thing about shogi but The Ryuo's Work is Never Done has a lot of fun characters already so I think it has potential. I also watched the first episode of Karakai Jozu No Takagi-San (seriously what is with Crunchyroll titles. They turn the perfectly serviceable Yuru Camp into Laid-Back Camp but they don't call this Teasing Master Takagi-san?). I liked the idea of a guy constantly getting trolled but it didn't feel like it was put together particularly well. I guess I'll see how the next few episodes go, maybe they were just finding their footing.

On another note, I saw that some anime called Dagashi Kashi was getting a second season and it looked alright so I wanted to watch the first season in preperation. Sadly, the first season is only available on Funimation and, despite having Japanese audio available and saying it has subtitles, there are no subtitles in the videos. I suppose I could just watch it dubbed, but... meh.
