Added the remaining two dialogue pools for James. His script is now 100% completed, although I do still need to set his schedule so that his sprite only appears in certain places at certain times. Either way his sprite only serves the function of calling his script. So the hard work is now done for him.

Dane:

Fear not, I'll be gone before long.

Caroline:
I'm less concerned about when

what you might do while here.

Dane:
Do you trust me so little?

That's a pity.

Dane:
I had thought the church was open to all.

Caroline:
My time in Grenalt has taught
me to be deeply suspicious of
unsavory characters like you.

Caroline:
Why, there were even some who
made it their job to hunt down
spies such as yourself.

Dane:
Ah, so you think I'm a spy?

Well, I must be pretty bad at it.

Dane:
After all, if you were suspecting me-

(Here, Caroline cuts off his dialogue, forcing the text box to close prematurely)

Caroline:
Consider it more likely that I'm
well versed in sniffing out rats.

Caroline:
This conversation reflects on
my own ability rather than on

Dane:
My time in the capital city taught me
to be wary of Enforcers. Some were
known to see rats where none existed.

Caroline:
Oh, they exist.

One stands before me right now.

Dane:
I don't know what to say to that.

It's not my intention to be your enemy.

Caroline:
That decision was made long ago.

Caroline:
I've made it my habit to always
keep my eyes on those who hide
in the shadows.

Dane:
Perhaps, as a Cleric of Calfina, you

light. Rather than worrying about shadows.

Dane:
Though I know your own past is
quite dark. Perhaps you have a

Dane:

(Dane trails off, hesitating. There is a moment of silence.)
(Caroline steps forward, prompting Dane to step backwards.)

Caroline:

... Have a Blessed day, then.

Dane:

Hey so I'm working on a game right now. Full disclosure, it's more of a hobby project for me than anything else. I would put your name in the credits, but don't expect that we're going to make a million dollars.

Anyways there is a ton of dialogue and storyline writing that I'll need to do in order to meet the vision that I want for the game. But the more I thought about it, the more I feel like I'm interested in the design and programming aspect of things and the amount of writing I have in vision is almost tedious for me to do on top of everything else. Long story short I've been giving some consideration to working with a fellow writer or possibly multiple writers.

Here are some details.

1. The setting is fantasy and the game takes place in and around a city. It's an open world game similar to fallout or elder scrolls series games. The NPC interaction system I have in place however is more inspired by games like Rune Factory and Harvest Moon.

2. Based on the information above you can probably guess... Yeah, what I really want is for people to come up with ideas for a character and then write a TON of dialogue for that character. Basically there will be a different conversation you can have with a character each day when you talk to them. This means every character is an opportunity to tell a distinct story that slowly unfolds each time your character speaks to them.

3. You will have a lot of creative freedom. It's not going to be like 'This is a character I have in mind, this is the story I want to tell, now go and write all of the dialogue for me.' Think more about coming up with your own story and writing it all yourself, but then having someone else willing to do all of the coding for you so that you can see it in an actual game. I think there's actually a pretty large appeal to this but maybe I'm just projecting my own feelings onto others. In the past I've often come up with ideas or written things that I wanted to see made into a game or a comic but it's very difficult to find a programmer or artist willing to help you out with stuff. All that being said I certainly have plenty of my own ideas and so if you feel like the type of person who needs guidance I could simply 'assign' you to writing dialogue for character arcs that I already have planned out.

Anyway I wasn't even 100% sure if anyone here would be interested but I figured it was worth making a topic. I could just go to any random forum with more traffic, post an ad, and probably get plenty of responses. But with board 8 being a sort of community I think it'd be nice to ask around here first before I go anywhere else. There are a few board 8 users I'd definitely be interested in working with on this type of project, and, very likely, there's plenty out there that I don't know very well but we'd end up getting along great.

I kinda want to check this game out if you ever release it, reading through the topic's been inspiring :o

I was originally planning on releasing a limited demo in january, but my travel plans got pushed back and I think the game world will feel rather empty if I release the game as is right now. maybe in march will work better.

that being said I don't think the limited demo is something I'll be posting on board 8 for everyone to play so yeah it might be several months after that before I have anything to show here.

i was very aware!

my interpretation was that more than a bump a day (over what period i dont know) is mass bumping

but i've had topics lock on me before with a mod saying &quot;looks like no one is interested in this topic anymore&quot;, and sometimes ive had it locked without comment (maybe from a mod, maybe from a tc, idk)

if chad is the &quot;okay&quot; guy i'm not a big fan of it, but i digged the weekend update

it also depends on what you consider good tv. if you're all in on the edit, and everyone has to make the best move (ie. not voting out jp) then you're going to be disappointed a lot.
