Revue Starlight ReLIVE just gave everyone 10,000 star gems (over 3 entire 10-pulls worth) for free for the 4.5 year anniversary. Outside of pre-registration launch bonuses or "sorry we're shutting down the server soon so pull to your heart's content while the game is still alive" gifts, this is the biggest single-day login gift of raw gacha currency that I've ever seen in a gacha game. Of course, this login bonus comes with the release of the first batch of cost 26 stage girls, which are another level of powercreep for PvP... but I don't play PvP so I don't care about that. I'll just take this 10,000 star gems and keep saving for the next new version of best girl Banana.

That got a little dicey near the end, but a win is a win. Rangers up 3-1 and still undefeated on the road. Has a team ever won the World Series without losing a single road game the whole way? Or would the Rangers be the first? EDIT: Someone on r/baseball informed me that the 2005 White Sox also did it. I double-checked and that is correct. I don't know if they're the only ones, but that's at least one that I know did it for sure.

At this point, with how the franchise has been stretched out and watered down into an unrecognizable shell of its former self, I agree with you. But during Super, I'm not denying that I would have been hyped if they had brought back Cell for the Tournament of Power instead of Frieza. Plus, the whole "Majin Buu is lazy and refuses to take part" plot point could have led to Cell absorbing Buu (while he was asleep) for a power-up and a new form.

The Kai dub is so much much better than the original Funi dub. Its been a lot of fun to watch it this way.

100% agreed. Between the better voices (plus better recording quality) and cutting out all of the pointless padding the original anime had, Kai is by far the better way to watch DBZ compared to the original. Plus, the "they turned Mr. Popo purple!" excuse doesn't even work anymore because Kai aired completely uncensored on Toonami later on, with Mr. Popo as black as he ever was.

Cell is a very close second, but aside from copying the main story beats, he wasn't as detestable as Frieza, Cell almost felt like he didn't understand the gravity of his purpose. Cell had a strange sense of honor. Frieza thoroughly enjoyed the suffering it wrought. Frieza had no honor or empathy.

I actually really liked Cell being that way. That odd sense of honor made for a great contrast compared to Frieza before him, and it's a shame that we'll probably never see him again in canon material, because that honor made him more worthy of a second chance than Frieza who ended up getting one in Super.

I think the Cell saga not having such glacially slow pacing as the Frieza saga did helped it garner a lot more favor. I only managed to finish all of DBZ with the Kai remake that trims out all of that padding and fixes the pacing, so that's a big part of why I'd rank the Frieza saga as my favorite and the Cell saga second. But in the original DBZ... god, that was awful. No amount of Bruce Faulconer music is worth that torture. Just watch Kai instead, for the sake of your sanity.

I think Garcia might have done some devil magic and given his power to the rest of his team after his injury, because this is unreal right now.

On the subject of Haunter being scarier than Gengar: I still think back to the giant Haunter in the old Electric Tale of Pikachu manga that literally killed people and Pokemon (including one of Sabrina's Pokemon) and then literally killed itself by using Self-Destruct rather than let itself be captured by a human.

Now that thing was hardcore. But aside from that one single instance in a manga that Nintendo would really like people to forget ever existed (for multiple reasons beyond just that Haunter), I never really found Haunter or any member of the Gastly line to be all that scary. In fact, the Indigo League anime episode they first debuted in made them seem more like troublemaking jokesters, and that's the vibe that always stuck for me.

It does, but seeing it on Ash's world championship team certainly helped it (plus Dragonite and Lucario) get even more spotlight and popularity than they already had before. Plus, Ash's final team also got the extremely funny and derpy-looking Dracovish some love too.

The news of Garcia missing the rest of the series really sucks, but things seem to be going well for the Rangers tonight even without him. Let's hope it holds.

I've never quite understood the hype over Gengar. Haunter is pointier and has cool ghosty hands. But Gengar is just a round little guy. Cute sure, and there's plenty of cool fanart of it. But what puts it so far above Haunter or any of the newer ghosts?

* Gen 1 nostalgia
* It was on Ash's final team when he finally became Pokemon world champion in the Journeys anime, adding to the nostalgia factor for longtime fans
* Competitive viability in the games (it was consistently in OU tier for 6 and a half generations, only finally falling to UU midway into gen 7)
* "Cute round little guy but evil" is just a generally popular type of design
* It sort of looks like an evil version of Clefairy/Clefable, who's also quite popular, so a lot of people who like those two like Gengar too

Those are some of the factors that came to mind for me.

I don't know about the manga, but she wears a dress like that in S3 of the anime when she *minor and vague S3 spoilers* goes on an infiltration mission in another village. She has to blend in with a bunch of girls and work her way into the village leader dude's harem to be able to snoop around the place.

It's a stupid plot that's been derailed multiple times by injuries and is just insufferable at this point.

And by terrible booking, too. Jey finally gets Jimmy to leave the Bloodline with him earlier this year, Jey gets a title shot because he became the first person to pin Roman in god knows how long during that tag match, then Jimmy turns on Jey and rejoins the Bloodline for... what reason, exactly? It genuinely feels like they're just stalling until WM40, throwing random shit at the wall to bide time and keeping Roman himself off of TV except when they need a ratings spike. Then lord only knows what would happen if they actually get The Rock to come in for that big money match at WM40. They won't (at least I would hope not) have Rocky be the one to dethrone Roman, so then he might hold it until WM41 at that point.

He became the very thing he used to call out Brock Lesnar and John Cena for being: a part-timer. What a joke.

Didn't one of those CoD games (can't remember which, they were both set in WW2) also replace the Nazi swastika with some other German symbol like the Iron Cross in campaign missions and people lost their minds over that too? I remember quite a few people freaking out over "historical accuracy", but I'm sure there were some who secretly just didn't like seeing their beloved symbol of white fascist supremacy be removed.

Currently sitting here trying to figure out if I can use Promethean Princess in my Spright deck because Red, Carrot, Elf, and Sprind are all Fire. Aside from that possibility and maybe Time-Tearing Morganite for my Floowandereeze deck, this new selection pack is completely useless to me.

I should be happy about Beetrooper Cruel Saturnas being added, but Tearlaments got Instant Fusion banned earlier this year and killed that option.

White woman sucks it's so annoying that labrynth can use her

At least White Woman takes some work to summon, unlike Kaijus where the opponent just needs to get lucky, draw it, and then plop it down on your monster. If your deck can put up a big stupid unaffected tower that needs White Woman get rid of it but can't put up enough disruption to stop the opponent from summoning the 4 monsters needed to summon her, then you deserve to have White Woman take your boss monster to Brazil.

Either way, cards like Kaijus and White Woman are necessary evils with how fast-paced the game is and how crazy first-turn boards can be.

Just Ariseheart limit wouldn't be too bad. It gives less recovery options to anybody who stole Ariseheart with any number of stealing options and stacking Ariseheart themselves.

Results in the TCG showed that Kashtira can still dominate tournaments against other decks even with only 1 copy. Plus, that also has the side effect of making the Kashtira mirror an awful coin flip, since the one who goes 1st can just Unicorn banish the only Arise-Heart the going 2nd player has and win easily.

They either need to ban Arise-Heart entirely or not hit at all and hit the main-deck Kashtira cards like Fenrir and Unicorn instead. I would rather see the latter happen, since Kashtira is still a great rank 7 engine and we're still in this god-forsaken format where Tomahawk and Auroradon are legal. Anything that hurts rank 7 plays is objectively a good thing for that reason alone, so I say ban Fenrir and limit Unicorn like the OCG did.

Ariseheart will run rampant for a while. The selection pack hasnt even been out a month yet. But I do think at some point they will either limit or ban it. The card is just too good otherwise

Maybe they'll take the OCG route and hit the main deck cards (Fenrir is banned in the OCG and Unicorn is limited along with the field spell, but Arise-Heart was never hit) instead of just banning Arise-Heart like the TCG did.

After how mediocre S2 was for most of the way, I've been pleasantly surprised by the first couple episodes of Shield Hero S3. Can't say I expected a sexy lady to turn into a killer whale in the middle of a fight though, that one caught me off guard.

I already dropped the show last week after someone warned me about how messy the demon-fighting episodes can get. It's a shame, because I was really enjoying the series, but I really can't handle gory scenes like that and there's apparently more of them later on.

Since we're 10 posts away from 500 now... anyone want to make the next topic? Tennousu made this one and CTrunks made the last one, so if someone besides those two (gotta keep up the variety) wants to volunteer to make the next one, then go ahead. If no one says anything, I'll just make it myself since I haven't made one in a few.
