Why is an anthology series too much to ask for? Why does it need to be a serialized story only loosely connected to the books?

There are several possibilities, of course the "dark forest" is one... the idea that space-faring civilizations hide themselves from detection for reasons of self preservation. So they won't show themselves to us, because that would make them more detectable to other more advanced or more aggressive civilizations.

There's also the possibility that we are the first advanced civilization just taking the first steps into space.

There's the possibility that life from other worlds would be so different they never get to a point where they would venture out into space.

Or that we wouldn't ever truly be able to communicate with them.

Or that they wouldn't want to leave their home world because they have far more abundant resources.

Or they died out for any number of reasons before they could ever contact us.

Nothing wrong with having that belief.

Issue is when people present it as being beyond a belief which happens a lot such as someone saying they calculated the mathematical probability.
But how did they?

Because it was mostly console players on older generation consoles.

After the week one patch, PC didn't have any issues other than unfinished stuff.

I played and beat the game just fine.

Worst thing I had to deal with was reloading older saves cause a quest line wouldn't work. But that was just a few times and always side missions

There is a nice outfit in the game used by an NPC, then your playable character even fights in this outfit in a battle (controlable by you) and then this outfit is simply "gone".
