Because he's a punching bag for the real smash tournament level players?

Spectre of the Gun: A fascinating episode! I don't know if it was serendipitous or not, but it was subtly genius to make the illusionary setting the Gunfight at the OK Corral (a battle notoriously rife with inaccuracies in its portrayal).

Not my favourite episode of the season so far, and the budget limitations can VERY clearly be shown, but still good!

7.5/10 would watch again

I just thought that someday all of these AI will be out the floodgates will be open and there'll be no restrictions for people to make everything and anything they want. There will be yes great things like maps of rats, funny scenarios and all sorts of things but also racist images. The worst part maybe what if this someday invalidates the proof of authenticity of a photo.

Worse yet what if it gets to video someday and you can no longer prove crime through video because it's possible it could be fake. It's a really terrifying thought. When you think you're the other way and frame people for crimes also.
Film cameras may start to see a resurgence, once this happens.

And the Children Shall Lead: I can see why people wouldn't like this episode, but I'm a sucker for stories involving children.

And the the crew of the Enterprise goes through some heavy shit. Shame the rest of the effects and the ultimate villain weren't more compelling.

Still, 7/10. Good episode, needed more budget and ambition to fully form.

Is There In Truth No Beauty: 0/10, I feel bad for any photosensitive epileptic that may have the misfortune of watching this episode. I'm not epileptic, and the viewing of the Medusans actually was VERY uncomfortable. To the point that it distracts from pretty much anything else.

Okay, somebody make this make sense to me.

I understand computers were scary amazing brand new things in the mid 60s. And Roddenberry and Co. were WAY ahead of their time with the writing of a lot of these episodes.

But the last two minutes of The Ultimate Computer are sticking in my craw.

Did Starfleet seriously not have further questions for Kirk and Dystrom???? No one getting court martialed or sent to the brig for treason/gross incompetence?

It's just AT LEAST 500 people dead/injured and the loss of one of our flagships. No biggie guys. You are free to BOLDLY GO. I do not think I'm nitpicking here. This would have been a valid concern to a first time viewer in 1967 and in 2023, imo.

I notice a lot of episodes dealing with future tech end in this aw gee shucks lol whatever sort of way. It gives me some serious mental whiplash.

This is not good Star Trek, lmao. It seriously takes what would have been a fantastic 9/10 episode and brings it right into a mediocre 5/10 (see me after class) range.

Man, Knightfall is such a weird story. Excellent concept, I think everything up until the initial backbreak is great. Then Azbat quickly goes into magic and satanic shit, the bat family gets fucked up, and Bruce gets healed by a psychic doctor who mental handicaps herself helping Bruce. It's funny that every future Batstory ignores the doctor and claims Bruce's pure will allowed him to walk again.
Probably because it is for the best that Batman writers try to paper over the fact that Bruce was dating someone who regularly has the mind of a child in an adult body because her powers turn her mind to soup from overuse.

No one ever wants to talk about this, but there are parts of Undiscovered Countrys plot that are pretty silly. Spock just sticking a very visible homing device on Kirks shoulder so he can be traced later is hilarious-to name one of the many contrivances that move the plot along. Glad Kirk didnt change his jacket before the trial!

But: ST: UC just feels right, you know? The music and visuals are great, the characters we love are all in fine form, the goodbye is poignant, and General Chang is just a wonderful scene chewing villain. I love the movie, even though parts of it make me roll my eyes a bit.

But the best line delivery belongs to Sulu: FLY HER APART THEN!!!!!!
