METAIRIE, La. (AP) New Orleans Saints rookie reserve quarterback Jake Haener has been suspended for the first six games of the regular season for violating the NFLs policy on performance-enhancers, a league spokesman said Wednesday.

Despite showing promise during the preseason, Haener was not expected to play this season. The Saints starting quarterback is veteran Derek Carr and his backup is veteran Jameis Winston.

The Saints also could have Taysom Hill play quarterback full time if needed, as he has done before. But Hills primary role is as a utility player who can execute designed quarterback runs, line up as a tight end and also serve as the upback on the punt team.

Haener will be eligible to return to the Saints active roster on Oct. 16, the Monday before New Orleans Week 6 game against Houston.

A fourth-round draft choice out of Fresno State, Haener made the regular-season roster after playing in all three of New Orleans preseason games. He completed 38 of 72 passes (52.8%) for 395 yards and a touchdown. He also was intercepted three times.

The NFL statement did not specify the banned substance for which Haener tested positive.

No, it is not. Folding Ideas does not so much as define what 'NFT' stands for until 39 minutes into the video (chapter 4) and they are not meaningfully mentioned before that except to assert they will, eventually, be discussed. Most of the 39 preceding minutes is spent building a narrative about anyone in crypto, poisoning the well honestly, before he actually commits to explaining how a blockchain functions ("3. The Machine", where that description begins, being 25 minutes in).

As a video specifically interested in delivering a narrative about the rise of crypto evangelism, I guess it's fine, but that's not quite what it was billed as here or in its title, and I'm not a fan of the organization of the information regardless. NFTs are lame because they do not have a meaningful use case, because they are a speculative asset that often try to obfuscate the "asset", not because bitcoin hoarders are wrong about centralized banking.

I'm trying to get through the video but he will just move from a topic like how having capital makes it easier to whale on bitcoin, to the energy usage of crypto vs ATMs, and then detours to a review of a book someone wrote about ethereum, while focusing more on calling the writer a loser than just explaining ethereum. . . . As an educational video about the limits of the technology, it's unfocused and poorly structured. I mean it's called "the problem with NFTs" and he has not explained anything about NFTs in the first 30 minutes.

Might've been a little harsh but I think that was because people were pitching it as

an essential watch for anyone who's unsure on the merits of Crytocurrencies and NFTs

and I thought no, you don't need a feature-length video (2h18m) to explain what an NFT is and why it is not useful.

The petition was made by Harvey Weinstein. I wonder if at least some of the signatures are because of the influence guys like Weinstein had and you could get your career shot down if you crossed them. Some observations:

The low point of the project is voice work. Some people are credited with different voices of the cast but for several lines you can hear some crackle of voice changer /ai work, the worst line in the film is the single voice line of Scout's mom which sounds like the Tiktok female text to speech. It gets better as the movie goes on, though partly because dialogue becomes more sparse.

On the other hand, a high point is sound design. Generally the most overlooked aspect of filmmaking by audiences and novices, the movie sounds pretty good.

The camerawork is dynamic and the lighting is really good. The setpieces are visually striking.

The plot gets pretty confusing. There are many supernatural elements and events that defy the bounds of the space and the continuity of the plot. The more cynical side of me says some of it is constructed to generate theory-crafting by the part of the internet who's into that, such as is super popular with "analog horror" (a genre Emesis Blue certainly flirts with).

Overall, not normally something I'd watch, but it was just really cool to see a SFM project using TF2 assets at this level of scope, ambition, and professionalism. And they pretty much pulled off their vision.

Okay, cool, but it doesn't follow that humans' choices are not free or their own. If anything, free will needs determinism as a pre-requisite.

For a decision to be your own, you must be able to reason and conclude. Any decision we make is come to by our observations of our present environment, our memory of past events, and our goals.

If the world is non-deterministic, then
1) We cannot reason out our actions because our memories and sensory information do not tell us about the possible consequences of our actions.
2) Our actions may not be determined by "us" at all because our senses, memory and goals cannot be said to necessarily influence our choices.

If an outside observer can know what you're going to do in 30 minutes, it would still have no bearing on the choice you make in 30 minutes being your own. On the other hand, if an outside observer can never know what you'll do in 30 minutes, that must certainly be more distressing, as it indicates your actions are arbitrary and without relation to your own character and ego.
