Whether people abuse a word or concept in other situations doesn't have bearing here. The subject of the topic is removed from the situations you're describing; the fact you dislike people who use subjectivity as a shield from consequences is irrelevant to whether morality is subjective; the laws you're invoking in your posts have their origins in order & stability rather than moral judgments.

It's not even how things play out in reality. We have to act, or move forward. Not be slow witted and not see the forest for the trees. It's being narrowminded, limited. "Subjective," is all you see. Not the big picture.

Take making murder illegal. In itself one can say there is subjectivity there. Sure, but in that sense, you're not saying anything of worth. What do we do with that? Nothing? It's a shit take.

One can choose, instead, to look at concept like living in a society. Goals and what have you.

Take the discussion of fostering a safe place for me and my family. Leaving "low iq" pedantic takes about subjectivity aside, one can observe what certain actions contribute to such a notion.

It's the difference between being practical and moving forward, and being petty and pedantic with a superficial understanding of "morality."

You sound confused and frankly patronizing. Nobody needs some social goal-oriented reason to pursue the subject of this discussion in their free time. It's not "petty" or "pedantry" for people to willingly think and talk about what is true.

There was supposed to be like castle construction and criminal enterprises and such. I was excited when the game came out in early access but I remember the dev progress seeming non-existent and then I kinda stopped playing a couple years ago.

I think it makes a lot of sense that angry reviewers thrive in sports. When "watching professional sports" is your hobby, you have literally no physical impact on the outcome of anything you engage with. All that's there for you is your emotional interaction: excitement when your team is winning and anger or sorrow when your team is losing. Most sports have leagues and tournaments such that there can be few or 1 "big winner" for the year, which means there's gonna be way more anger and disappointment in the sum emotional output of sports fans than other emotions.

I dont seem to recall the movie ever hinting the attack was fabricated / faked, nor the bugs being peaceful and neat until we attacked and invaded. These two things would have absolutely made the move anti-facism, but that wasnt the case.

The guy at the end of the movie has the super power to empathize with and understand a creatures he touches. He lays his hand on the creature and says, "it's afraid."

In a conventional narrative, this may be the moment where the soldiers on either side of this war realize the other side isn't horrible unfeeling monsters-- they're people. But in Starship Troopers, "it's afraid!" is met with raucous cheer. The enemy is already completely depersoned, and these sons of the state are interested only in their genocide.

Starship Troopers operates from the fact the biggest loser in war is the common man, and that through history imperialist states have used various types of propaganda and cultural conditioning to distort this fact into something righteous. The tragedy in the movie is that they're so deep in that learning information that conflicts with their understanding of the basis of the war (the bugs aren't unfeeling locust invaders, they can be reasoned with and may not want to fight) doesn't matter.

Was it ever entertaining? I just saw some dumb internet outrage over "wokeness" in the game and then the release date came and went and I didn't see anything else about it ever again.

From the gameplay I watched, it just seemed kinda dated and the characters weren't very likable. IDK about "woke" but they kept talking about drinking "mugmosas (mimosa in a mug)" and how they only do their outrageous crimes to pay rent.

Me and the squad standing inside my Globe of Invulnerability watching Sarevok slash at us 4 times with Haste got me feeling like the end of Stone Ocean >_>

Even if literally everyone is in consensus that something is bad, I don't think that proves objective morality. Because for objective morality to meaningfully exist, then 'goodness' and 'badness' are in some way inherent forces. It's a really big claim and I don't think the fact that 99-100% of well-adjusted agree with something being bad proves that claim.

Basically, it's feasible that morality is subjective and also that the shared experiences and essence of human beings lead us to agree among ourselves that certain things are good or bad from nearly all of our perspectives.

omg I forgot about how elementals work. Really discourages me from using them, the way they're implemented outright seems like a bug. I remember in act 2 having half of last light's inn chasing my fire elemental into the shadow yelling at it to go away as they literally rotted to death

HOWEVER that didn't seem to be the issue in this case, I reloaded and dispelled mine before the fight ended and the refugees still exhibited the odd behavior

Speaking of the sewer, what's up with the refugees being used for target practice by the cultists. After defeating the cultists the refugee NPCs start running like fucking The Flash and you need to make sure you've disarmed the tripwires in the next room or they blow themselves up/ Then they seem to be scripted to disappear but one of them didn't. I tried to talk to them but my MC said "Shadowheart needs to talk to her more than I do", but after that they couldn't be clicked on to talk to at all. She started running the other way to the noxious gas in the first room and walked back and forth in it while healing until the damage roll was enough to kill her

I got Halsin in the sewer. Scratch is alive for me

i got spoiled about the kidnapping but apparently there's a kid that joins the camp and if you have no one else she's the one that gets kidnapped. wonder if you could kill the others, trigger the scene, then revive your companions so you don't lose them

Someone on Reddit says the only three characters that can be kidnapped are Lae'zel, Halsin and Gale. So if all three are in your party she takes the orphan that cat Grub is with. And I think if you don't have her then Orin just tells you she took some innocent

the kidnapping mechanic is insane. you just lose a party member for much of act 3
