A dude with actual experience mentioned it like once, all of a sudden its a circlejerk.

A dude with experience handling thieves talked about how bad thieving is, and after a hundred and fifty posts it devolved into four or five users talking about how shitty stealing is, in turn.

Then I posted this and it stopped for a few hours. About 20 posts pass, and the topic is back on thieving and how shitty thieves are.

I guess that's what this topic is now, but I found it interesting to think about the actual logistics of this statement. Honestly, the fact that we have users being like "yeah look at all this thieving and crime, people who steal are scum" shows how people read the headline and take it at face value without stopping to think about what it actually means. The fact that it was worded the way it was is almost certainly to facilitate this sort of deflective conversation about crystal meth tweakers and shit.

Okay a couple points I want to bring up as I read over some old threads:

- Remember when they made a blatant clip show in season two?

- I'm still firmly in the camp that Reddington is Katarina Rostova as a post-op transman. How else would Reddington have escaped from Alexander Kirk? And even in the first season, there are so many tantilizingly relevant hints.

- Bro I thought Charlene was gonna dump Harold in season 3, and then she reveals she was FUCKING THE NEIGHBOUR HOLY SHIT. That was a really funny moment of the show for me.

- The guy playing Mattias Solomon was fantastic. They wasted him on Redemption.

- Actually speaking of The Blacklist: Redemption, why the fuck was it not like a suicide-squad show full of former Blacklisters doing covert ops? Instead we get Locke from Lost and a cast of all-new characters who have crazy sci-fi tech. I know the main show is unrealistic, and episodes like the Cyranoid have eye-cam contact lenses and stuff, but it felt so out of place in Redemption and there weren't even fun cameos like Gina Zenatakos or anyone related to Tom's past. I binged it in a day, I didn't like it. What a disappointment.

- The music they pick for this show is great a lot of the time. Any time Gordon Lightfoot comes on, shit's gonna go down - If You Could Read My Mind was such a pleasant surprise. They also used a song by the Weepies, which I can only explain with a screenshot:

- High point of the show was the Mr Kaplan revenge arc. That's where the show peaked.

- The beginning of the end was season six. The president wants to kill his wife because she wants to tell the police he ran over a child. That carries significantly less weight after 2016 and 2020, where we know the public would not only excuse that shit but take up arms and attack government institutions if the president was prosecuted.

- The show jumped the shark when the Real Killer of the episode was a sentient AI.

Funny thing is I don't follow communities of any of the shows I watch, so I would have never known she was hated had I not stumbled into this topic right now.

I've watched the show from day one. It's one of those things that I should stop watching, but I keep going anyway.

Oh yeah I totally get that. In the build-up to the How I Met Your Mother finale, I binged the entire series including 3 seasons I hadn't seen before. I watched that show on and off for five years of my life - I was ten when I started watching it.

I was so invested in the final payoff and I felt like I *needed* to be there for the end of the show. That ending was so disappointing I don't even miss the show itself. I won't go back to it unless someone else puts it on.

I also felt this way about the last three seasons of Doctor Who. Loved Whitaker's Doctor dearly, but fuck me they botched the writing. I'm just along for the ride at this point.

The Liz Keen hate on IMDB is absolutely fucking wild. Remember that episode, Brothers or something, that's about Ressler and his brother dealing with the death of their father? There are IMDB reviews with like six stars or less that say "this would have been an easy 8 or 9, but I'm taking three stars away because Elizabeth Keen was in the episode. The episode I just watched, Misre, is the one where she comes back after nine episodes - it's sitting at a 4.9/10 on IMDB. I'm pretty sure it's the lowest rated episode of the show.

I'll write out my thoughts after I get dinner. Might post some screenshots of my old Blacklist topics from That Other Site for content and to avoid repeating myself.

The one thing I will say is this: as much as Keen going to war with Reddington is a mid plot development that I'm not wholly into, I think it fits the character and I'm getting fucking sick of seeing the IMDB review scores getting review-bombed because Elizabeth Keen is in the fucking episode.

Also the last decent season of the show was season 5. The story arc in season 6 was a wet fart, though the execution plotline was good, and season 7 was where the show began to dive off a cliff because Laila Roberts's Katarina Rostova just kind of walked into everything she wanted and the turn Elizabeth took didn't have the weight I think the showrunners wanted. Season 8 has had some really fun ideas that I really like like the Cyranoid, but I don't buy Liz matching Reddington pound for pound like she's been able to do.

And even still, the abject hate that she gets is beyond me. By far my least favourite part of the Blacklist experience is the scathing hate for her.

Honestly that post was a bit cringe, but the point I was trying to get at is that I was into the series for years, in for the long haul, and even as recently as XRD it seemed like the fanbase for this game was passionate, but niche.

So when Bridget came out for Strive and all of these supposed lore experts and fans who love the series from the bottom of their hearts came out of the woodwork to "set the record straight" - it was frustrating, because there was never that level of attention or fervor about the series for 10+ years beforehand.

It seemed clear to me that it was a bunch of bad-faith morons claiming to be speaking from a place of love so they could do the same song and dance about Japan's conservatism and woke localisation and all the regular shit they like to get up to. Same thing happened with AI: The Somnium Files. Same thing happens every time anything even remotely queer happens in Japanese games.

Not to say "if you dislike Bridget being trans you're not a real fan", because I'm sure there were some longtime fans who were alienated by this. But I feel very strongly that a majority of the people springing up to disregard it for the numerous reasons they did weren't doing it out of love for the game or the franchise, they were doing it because Bridget being explicitly trans was something they could argue about. There were too many "strangers", for lack of a better term, for this to have been a purely organic movement coming out of the fandom imo.

I should probably go home, pretty sure I'm catching a cold and I feel like shit from the drinking and from overworking. I have like 33 hours of time in lieu so I'll see what's up.

Regarding the gun shop guy, guns are ridiculously regulated in Japan. It's like how toy guns have to have that orange cap on the end, lest someone use one to stage a robbery.

The gun shop guy modifies guns to appear much more realistic for the collector's market, and that can absolutely get him fined up the ass and/or arrested. It seems silly, but those guns he's making are legitimately contraband that could land him in prison if the worst were to happen.

Okay, let's rephrase that:

Of all the American celebrities in the world known for their charitable track record, the positive potential of their work and their image, Dolly Parton is the gold standard for who this money could be going to.

Amazon workers absolutely deserve a cash infusion like this, whether it be as a company-wide round of bonuses for the staff or as a massive pension plan, or in having their wages increased permanently. This money is going to charity - almost certainly as a matter of PR, sure, but if it wasn't carved out for this express purpose there's zero guarantee it would have been going towards the workers. It's like complaining about people donating to Archive of our Own instead of giving money to people's GoFundMes, which is absolutely a real point of discourse I'm fucking sick of seeing.

That being said, maybe Dolly Parton can be extremely fucking funny and based in donating $20 million to fund unionization efforts for Amazon employees. But saying that, hearing that Dolly Parton has the authority to direct this money to charitable causes of her choosing is cause for celebration, because she is the gold standard for celebrities who are involved with charity.

Is this ideal? No. Nobody's wrong for pointing out the plight of Amazon's workers, nor for pointing out the more cynical aspects of this action being a PR stunt. I still genuinely believe this is a net positive, even if more could absolutely be done.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

inb4 "oh it's a dinky little throwaway project that Damon Albarn recorded on an iPad" - and yet I still like it more than Humans and The Now Now. It actually sounds and feels like a Gorillaz album, stripped back as it may be. Even without that point of comparison, this album has always been very listenable and I've always enjoyed it.

I don't see why people write off the iPad thing when it was never meant to be anything other than a musical travel diary Damon made on tour. And furthermore, it was only released to a handful of fans as a Christmas gift before positive reception led to a wider release. Saying "The Fall is good" isn't approaching the level of praise as "Plastic Beach is a masterpiece", but I've always gotten some degree of pushback for liking this album and I don't get why.

Even in the canon of Gorillaz, this is a travel diary in musical form. It's a neat little distraction that comes after Plastic Beach and caps it off. It's a bit barebones, but it's fun and quirky in that recognisable Gorillaz way and the songs honestly can go hard like when the Snake in Dallas or Hillbilly Man kick in.

"Oh but what about--" bitch every Gorillaz album has at least one bad song. I'm not a fan of Glitter Freeze from Plastic Beach or November Has Come from Demon Days. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who'd champion every song off of the original Gorillaz album. It isn't a competition, it's not a pissing contest.

I make this topic every now and again, and I'll probably make it again. The Fall is a good Gorillaz album, fucking fight me.

I've got two who are terrible for their own reasons.

First guy is an idea man whose ideas are always fucking stupid. They either involve stupidly intensive renovations, or they make the workload harder, or they're so pie-in-the-sky and beyond our budget that they're never gonna happen.

I work in a laundry, and we have this big podium where we put the dirty laundry - a lot of the time we have to spill it out onto the floor, but we know where the dirty stuff is. He wants to get rid of that podium and lay some linoleum down, and he wants to move the sorting to the very back of the shed away from the washing machines.

Just today we moved that podium out of the way because of some corporate stooges who don't even work here, and the sorting area was put at the back of the shed away from the washing machines. The workload is already that much fucking worse. And this motherfucker had the audacity to COMPLAIN about how it's not ideal, even if he still wants to get rid of the podium which isn't even being used rn. He talks about moving the washers and dryers around without taking the gas/electricity routing into account, and I'm absolutely sick of it.

And yet, he means well. It's annoying, but he genuinely believes that his harebrained ideas would make things better.

Enter coworker #2.

This guy is just a fuckwit. He plays pranks on people to rile them up, including our customers.

One time, he gloated to me about how he stirred up one of our customers by pretending he didn't bring all their pillowcases. He was laughing about how this guy was following him to and from the van, saying he needed pillowcases, until my coworker emptied the entire van and "found" the other bag of pillowcases this guy wanted.

I can get behind a bit of banter, even if I think this guy is the sort of jackass who gets off on people not liking him. But I really dislike him not just because he's a loathsome dickhead, but because he will put his own professionalism aside to bother our clients for his own amusement. What happens when someone realises he's being a jackass on purpose to fuck with them? Fuck him.

Apparently that FFX spoiler is incorrect, mostly beefed up by a popular 4chan thread that exacerbated aspects of the story to make it seem worse than it was. That's not to say it's good, but "Tidus kicks a bomb and dies" is bunk afaik.

Yuna breaks up with Tidus because she's jealous of his friend Marphie, and she tells him she's in love with someone else. I don't know the actual story of her childhood or anything, but this song seems to be about parental abuse tied in with her childhood home going up in flames. It's about her brother, who seems to have copped a lot of the abuse, and this music video is actually directed by him. It's about getting out of that and moving onto better things, and the chorus is about love and support. Taking that narrative into account, I think this song coupled with this music video courtesy of her brother is a real tearjerker.

I love this music video. The song itself is a perfect, sappy love song, and the video has couples of all walks of life listening to it together and reacting to it. One of the couples is a guy signing the song lyrics to his deaf girlfriend. There are some queer couples including some gay and trans couples. And it gets me so hard because this came out in 2005, and it's just legitimately one of those perfect love songs with the perfect accompanying music videos.
