He believes its due to his weight gain and wants to lose weight. Hes lost some but hes pretty stubborn about it.Losing weight can help sleep apnea, but it won't cure it (to that other poster who was told to just lose weight, you ought to talk to a specialist; not enough doctors understand sleep medicine). Sometimes with obstructive, you can get surgery if they know where the problem is, but that's the extent of cures. I hope you can eventually convince him to stick with it. Around half of people never do, but the quality of life improvement and better health really are worth it. Not to mention treating the sleep apnea can also help with the weight. I've got both obstructive and central sleep apnea, and for me at least, my quality of life drops so low without the mask that I'll never go without it. Yes, claims of abuse should be taken seriously, and yes it is wrong to stigmatize the mentally ill, but people do need to be aware that these patterns of behavior exist, are dangerous, and are definitely not OK. More than one of my relatives do things like this, and it just makes you die inside. Like, you're supposed to be nice and compassionate, and maybe they are OK most of the time, but you never know when this is going to happen. Will they start rumors? Kill your reputation? Involve the police? Attack you physically? I also had a friend once who was so toxic that her doctor refused to refer her to group therapy because they thought it would be dangerous for the other participants to be forced to interact with her. --- Cuteness is justice! Even when they do watch an actual show, they spoil everything with cleverly edited TikTok videos and wiki deep dives. They get most of their news and form their beliefs about what is going on the world from TikTok. Family movies are something everyone enjoys (and this particular person is a huge fan of movies), and even when they are excited to watch something and are enjoying it, they constantly ask questions about what is happen or what is going to happen, and if you aren't clear upfront about not wanting to be spoiled, they'll go ahead and look up spoilers, spoil the movie or show for you, and Segway into talking about how they feel about the spoilers instead of watching the damn movie. They will also ramble on incoherently about some half remembered story someone told them about something they saw on Twitter, and they'll do it for hours. You are watched carefully to see if you don't seem to be paying attention or make a comment to another person during the monologue, and they get mad and remember it for later. Is this just one person's particular quirks, or have I failed to keep up with the times? --- Cuteness is justice! It's the law. |

I think the uncut, R-rated version would have been better. Dr. Fate was a cool character that really should have had his own movie. While there are some benefits to living in the modern era, I think they are largely overshadowed by the negatives. The constant distraction a need for the stimulus of a device probably isn't healthy mentally or socially. Social media is full of misinformation and is a tool to control and radicalize people. Yes, there is more freely available education, but most of what folks use the internet for is doom scrolling and making stupid posts on Reddit. Sooner or later (probably, in my humble, opinion sooner) citizens of the first world will come to regret the existence of mass surveillance and the non-existence of police reform. The climate and ecosystem were a lot less fucked up in the 90s, too. I remember how different the weather used to be, and how many more birds and other wildlife there used to be. --- Cuteness is justice! It's the law. |
