The show had poor pacing, and poorly distributed screen time. The show had a number of different characters doing different things, and it was disappointing that the coverage felt uneven. Also, I found Galadriel very unlikable in contrast to Elrond. Yes, elves are pretentious dicks, but you have to on some level enjoy watching the main characters do things.

I think the show was also hurt by the conflict between Tolkien's black and white morality and the compelling nature of the darker characters. It's not, in my opinion, made at all obvious why the elves and humans are good and Halbrand is bad. The message that there are these dark creatures out there who are just evil and can't be given a home and don't deserve to live kind of doesn't resonate with modern viewers very well in an era where we are increasingly becoming used to more nuanced entertainment.

Gandalf (or whichever wizard he is) is obviously primordially good, but there is a definite air of danger and uncertainty to his power and quest. He hurts people without meaning to, and even if his ultimate goal is good and he is a good man, the things he does are dangerous and won't always be completely good. The elves are assholes who treat humans like dirt, Numenor's society looks too much like our own to seem like paradise, the not-Hobbits have a fun society that is marred by leaving the slow and sick to die. The dwarves are isolationist pricks. The "evil" orcs and the mutated elf aren't entirely sympathetic because they do bad things, but it is kind of hard to fault them for wanting to live and have a home. Would Gandalf have given the same answer if he had been in Galadriel's place? I'd certainly hope not!

Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time both feel like they are trying to twist the source material to tell a kind of story they really aren't suited for.

I had a lot games back in the day, but I lived in the middle of nowhere near a small town and never really had anyone over besides some relatives. I loved my games, but I sort of felt cheated, because all those magazine ads made it seem like a blast to play with a bunch of other people. What was your experience like? There are already scams out there where they try and get you to say the word "yes" so they can use it to make you agree to a service they want to sell.

Its weird tho, major newspapers are silent about this. Only seen a small notice on my local paper about it.
Could it be that it's still fairly early on in the process or not likely to pass, or is there some kind of pressure to pass it quietly? I don't understand the EU political process, and my only source for news on this stuff is civil rights and tech news sites and that one EU politician who crusades against this (guy has a timeline on his page, but I don't understand how laws get passed in the EU so it tells me basically nothing).

There haven't been many posts about chat control on the r/Europe, either. I've tried to do my part by posting there when new articles come out, but my posts are always deleted by the moderators after a few minutes with no reason given. My requests for clarification are never responded to, either and I'm quite sure I follow the rules. I'd hazard a guess other folks have tried, too. I find this disturbing because this legislation might be the dumbest and most evil internet legislation yet proposed, and nobody is talking about it (or being allowed to talk about it?).

This is a horrible suggestion. ChatGPT is not emotionally or intellectually intelligent. It doesn't understand what you say to it. It just creates convincing text and often makes stuff up. It's fine for generating code snippets for something simple (if you check it...) but it isn't for anything like therapy. Doubly so because it logs everything you do with it and has tons of gates placed on what it can't "talk" about.

You could say that the software or the algorithms involved are beautiful pieces of art, but no "AI art" is not an art form. There will be no such job as "prompt crafter". To generate "art", you select a service to use, select a model, type in some random idea like "a frog uprising" and then append or prepend a bunch of stuff like "4k, highly detailed, fast shutter speed" and keep clicking generate until you get something you like. You can copy prompt ideas or quality word salad from most publicly available AI images. The process of generating images will only get more streamlined over time. There will never be a job titled "prompt crafter".

Have you gotten anything really upsetting out of Starryai? Around half of my prompts to the photo model generate porn no matter what the prompt says, and number of things that it spit out were stomach churning to the point that I uninstalled the app. I've seen a few reviews in the app store that mentioned uninstalling because of how upsetting some generated photos were, but nobody seems to be talking about it on social media.

I'm no prude (though it is strange there is no filter), but a great deal of the produced photos were honestly disturbing.

These posters speak the truth. This is honestly good advice for friendships too.

You should be focusing on becoming a functioning adult and learning how to support and take care of yourself.

There's not a lot of women that are gonna want to date a 30+ year old man who still needs to be taken care of like a little boy because he refuses to do even basic things for himself.
I haven't followed your posts closely, but if these things are true about you, they really do need to change. If you have relatives who are doing basic tasks for you, take advantage of their kindness by learning from them how they are done. If that doesn't work out for you, seek community resources to continue to grow until you are comfortable functioning independently to the best of your potential.

If you are disabled and can't perform some basic life tasks for yourself--and you are sure you can't learn--be sure and figure out what you'd do if the people doing those things for you now suddenly couldn't or decided not to. The best time to solve a problem is before it really becomes a problem.

Good luck man!

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/03/sign-petition-and-tell-eu-legislators-dont-scan-us

If this eventually passes, the government will essentially require everything you do or say online to be scanned proactively for illegal content, in the name of tackling child abuse. Of course, the government and police won't be limited to using all the collected data for those purposes. The EU Commission refused to meet with any detractors of the legislation, and hasn't addressed any of the flaws (like flooding the police with huge numbers of false positives because automatic scanning tools don't work well), criticisms, or serious dangers (like vulnerable people having no privacy or how this will affect the internet worldwide).

Attempts at passing this kind of legislation has happened before and been defeated, but this is the most brazen and dangerous one yet. If you live in the EU, please contact your representatives. If not, please be aware yourself and spread the word if you can.

It has been a while since I last studied scholarship around the Bible, but the Book of Genesis is largely just plagiarized versions of other creation myths. And the ancient Jewish people were actually polytheistic for a good long while, so the various angels and names of God (or oddities like God seeming plural in the creation story) are just reflections of this. Behemoths (I'd have to check if that is even a thing) would just be standard mythical creatures, like nephilim or a cyclops or whatever.

The whole 10,000 year creation story is the result of people taking the Old Testament completely literally and adding years poorly.
