My guess? Dominion was holding out for more money and probably some other stipulations. Fox didn't want to give it and then trial day came and Fox realized just how fucking flimsy it's defense was.

IIRC the series creator once commented that he does manage to get laid a lot, but they don't show it in the show for two reasons
