There is a pretty obvious distinction between events when the women were still just leaving with the stolen goods and after one of the women decided to attack him. I find it hard to believe that you cant wrap your head around the level of fear involved changing after that.

I had a friend who was very much like that. She intended well, using her personal experiences to relate to the situation, but ultimately the effect is the same as a one upper - hijacking the conversation and making it about herself with no real way to bring it back around to the other person in the end. You actually need a workable plan of action to make that a reality. Culturally, we are entrenched in guns. You need at least two generations of people to die off before it's even a possibility that we'd ever begin any kind of major restrictions. Physically, we are entrenched in guns. There are just too many to remove in any kind of short timeframe. We're talking decades at least.

I don't think such campaigning is bad or worthless, but it's not a solution to this current problem. It's a possible endpoint way down the line, spurred on by this current problem. There's also the reality that we're going to be dealing with high quality 3D printed guns at some point in the coming years as well, so any deranged person will be able to assemble one on their own anyway.

There is no solution to the current problem that is going to be even remotely close to an instant fix. The decades long solution is the solution, but it has to actually start at some point.

ETA: thats not true, I forgot I also have a pair of like $100 Turtle Beach headphones that I bought years ago for gaming purposes and hardly ever use any more.

However for the last couple of years Ive worked in environments where Im free to listen to music without headphones on and I have a really nice JBL speaker that I paid $350 (on sale) for.

State wide legislation aimed at dealing with a group of students numbering in the single digits is absurd to begin with. Its such narrowly focused and blatant fear mongering that it should be immediately struck down with scorn by any decent person. As to the issue itself, I dont think that any kind of transgender specific rules are really needed before college level at the earliest. And I think that there will be even less of an already very small issue if social transition, puberty blockers and gender affirming hormone treatments are accepted as normal medical care so that more trans youth will go through the appropriate puberty to begin with.

I have gotten suspended here and there for insulting users by repeating things that they had posted in the past (like when I pointed out that a user had previously been banned for posting White nationalist great replacement rhetoric) and most recently for suggesting some self awareness on the part of a poster insulting other people for something that very much applied to themselves. Some of you like to pretend that I get suspended for having some terrible set of political beliefs but that just isnt true.

"I want to help people! I am here to help people! You are upset about how I help people and rather than helping all people I'll just help no people" isn't someone who actually wants to help people. It's someone who wants to pretend to be helping people while taking a jab at the other group that's asking for help.

Once again I have to say that this does not seem like something that is consistently applied. I have a hard time believing that you would say that a support program for trans women should be pressured to accept cis women and if the people running it dont want to do that it means that they dont actually want to help people. Or a youth group for Black children should be pressured to accept children of other races as well, a support group for gay or lesbian people should be pressured to accept bisexual or even asexual people, and so on. It is very common for groups to focus on supporting one sub-group of a demographic rather than the whole of the demographic.

Im curious as well, I had to get physicals playing sports in Virginia growing up.

Ive been in Amory, MS for the last week and a half as part of a rapid response to the tornado that came through on the 24th. It can come across badly to some people to say I enjoy going to disaster areas, but yes. Ive been surrounded by great people doing great things to help a community in need and its very rewarding.

If you just mean a purely recreational visit, I went to see a friend in Philadelphia. It was a good time.
