Yeah it's dang near lost all meaning for me at this point.
It's basically been stretched out to apply to so much stuff that being called "-phobic" doesn't even mean anything any more, and essentially translates to "We disagree, so you're ____phobic." 90% of the time.

I guarantee you most of those accused of being -phobic just shrug it off or don't even care as a result, whereas they would if it were used more sparingly and had a more select assortment of circumstances for it to actually apply.

It's like "bigot". Used to be a strong word. Now it's demoted to a party clown :x

Already achieved most of them.
My writing's at a good level--Got my writing good enough to place highly in writing contests, and received two unsolicited publishing offers for a couple novels (I denied because they're too general and too unspecialized in their catalogues)
My artistic ability's at a good level--Get regular art commission requests for supplemental income.
Got a great job in my field.

No offense, but if you can't achieve your goals or dreams through the USA, when there's a ton of resources readily available to do so and just WAITING for people to use them (Including staying in the USA or using said resources to go to other countries) ...yeah you were probably never cut out to have your dreams fulfilled in the first place :x
Heck, so many international programs and opportunities include the USA BECAUSE we're in the USA, and they prioritize this country as a result. Which makes me pity you even more.

It absolutely blows my mind at all the options Americans have (Like the sheer number of scholarships available for school that states just sit on 'cause no one ever applies for them for some reason), but they'd rather be held down by the media telling them they're held back and looking to blame everyone but themselves instead of putting in a little work.

Though it might be because I have good parents who taught me to work for what I want...

I feel like a lot of people on CE from a year and a half ago would be irate at their current selves and their actions.

That is, if they weren't empty shells filled by whatever outrage they're told to feel angry about most recently.

But that's their prerogative so whatever.

It's why I don't take anything here seriously. It's like no one thinks for themselves and are just a bunch of people over 30, pushing 40, or over 40 desperate for validation and a sense of belonging, so they cling onto the hivemind opinion without thought or their own feelings on the matter.

The only reason I really come back here is to remind myself of my goal by the time I'm 30: Even if things somehow end up bad, I REFUSE to be like these people.
That'll scare anyone straight :x

Like, say what you want about Reddit, but if CE had something like their downvote system, it'd be a heckuva lot worse. (Hence its reputation as "ResetEra 2.0") At least with Reddit, even the downvoted side at least gets SOME people trying to understand their points of view and replying to them with somewhat of an open mind. Which is why, for example, I love the trans subreddits for the enlightening discussions on the trans experience both good and bad; heck, I've visited those reddits so much that I'm excited to get a notification on my phone to read more about it. It's the complete opposite of... whatever brainwashed, draconian madness goes on here when the same subjects are mentioned.
And I'm not talking about transphobes. I mean CE's overzealous hivemind that will defend a subject tribalistically to an almost creepy extent, like they're trying to make a safespace for the nonexistent 12-year olds who browse the forum, but instead it's a daycare for older individuals akin to Rick and Morty's Jerryboree.

CE's bigotry towards differing opinions is about as bad as their social skills. And for that, it will always be a joke. Which is why I like coming here: the spectacle's hilarious~

Probably because there's only one "Souls" series that the overwhelming vast majority recognize when it's abbreviated like that.

Plus they kind of, y'know... need to be "Souls" and not "Soul". The other "Souls" games on your list are singular.
Which is funny 'cause you remove the last "s" to make a point but it just doesn't work. Even moreso since you acknowledge it's plural in your first sentence.

That girl was a piece of shit and you weren't much better for taking advantage. But your advice is sound.

Maybe, but that's just the reality for those nice guy situations. I've lost count of the number of similar stories I heard in university or post-uni where a guy was dull, so the girl would just use him while she was playing the ol' fleshflute for, and curling her toes and shouting the name of the guy she actually enjoyed being around.

Not that I'm excusing it (Not would she, if she were had a say about it I'm sure), but man some dudes are desperate as hell for companionship or to be with a woman that they'd rather try to climb freezing mountain naked than get the climbing equipment and materials first. Very, very easily attainable gear at that.

And you're right: it's great advice. It should be common sense, really, but eh... that doesn't come to everyone nowadays :x

I used to be a nice guy myself, until I turned 15 and thought "Nah: I wanna be nice, but not nice." I have just as many failure stories as I do successes, especially from first starting out that have given secondhand embarrassment to those listening to it.
And I'm all the better for it. I learned the game, so much so that I'll never find myself being the one paying for the meal of the girl I'm interested in + her mate~

Well yeah nice guys are boring.

This one girl I used to see all the time (Not date. Fool around with often) would always get us free food from the nice guys she met on Tinder or OKCupid. Every time they arranged a date, she'd text me and ask what sounded good, and she'd tell the guy that restaurant/eatery. She'd order a bunch of food, cut the date off early with some weak excuse (Which I made fun of her for often and we had laughs about, because the nice guys always bought it or WANTED to believe it), and we'd meet at her or my place and watch movies or other stuff while eating the free grub. The best part was that she was Asian, so you KNOW every dude is swiping right on her and trying to impress her.

So yeah... nice guys just get taken advantage of and are usually quite boring individuals. Gotta be at LEAST a little fun~ It's weird because people don't consider that there are quite a few variations between "Nice guy" and "Complete asshole", and it doesn't have to be one or the other :x

What the remake needs are intrusive plot ghosts trying to keep the story the same, thus making the events progress super inorganically, and culminate in a final fight against the plot ghosts to defy fate.

Episode 1 can end with an alternate dimension cut of Qui Gon Jinn surviving against and beating Darth Maul cause Luke and Co. defeated the plot ghosts, with a final shot of Jinn and Obi flying to Coruscant.

Oh, and lets have Vader show up every seven seconds cause why not

Absolutely.

Further, I got an offer from the company to relocate to East Asia at the start of 2023 due to the languages I've learned (Chinese and Japanese).
Even if I weren't satisfied, I have:
  • IRL friends who reach out to me constantly from university for watch parties for animated series, movies, gaming, or just to chat and shoot the breeze.
  • a drive to keep improving on my skills to make me more money.
  • almost a daily commission request due to spending my early 20's honing my artistic ability, so much so that I have to close them every week and occasionally raise prices to give me a break.
  • raised my writing ability so much that I got a couple publication offers that I declined since they're not my preferred publishers... and I didn't even submit anything: THEY found ME.
  • consistently receive good to excellent feedback for my writing.

If I ever decide to get published, that's just a third income stream for me. On top of my accounting work as my primary employment and the contractual work for my art... yeah I'm beyond satisfied.
And I'm not even 30~

Apparently abuse and trafficking.

Although personally, when I looked into it I never saw any concrete evidence regarding that. In fact, I saw more often than not the alleged victims speaking up for him, calling the notion absurd.

He's also pretty blunt with how he proposes his views, so I could see him hurting people's feelings in that regard. I don't agree with everything he says, but I don't have thin skin so it doesn't really bother me.

It's weird, because after looking into him with all the horrid allegations, he actually gives some very solid advice for getting ahead in life and being motivated, some that I even tried to preach to my own friends and acquaintances in the past to improve either mentally, financially, or physically :/

Again, he has some pretty wild beliefs and his bluntness doesn't register well with many, but I saw a lot of good stuff there and very, very little of the bad I'd heard so much about.
