It is what Disney does. Might take 20 years but then again og Star Wars is older than the likes of Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, etc.

eventually yea. they got so many spinoffs going on now. we'll obviously get another trilogy soon. but if that does bad i can see them like a decade later just rebooting the series.

Better yet, cast Lizzo as Luke, and change the design of the X-Wing, so she can fit.

Its not the hardest thing ever but creating a new story on the scale of Star Wars in a universe with massive existing lore and location details it can take story cues from is definitely easier than creating it from scratch in a way that wont make audiences feel ripped off.

Rogue One is an incredibly budget concept based on existing source materials.

Hopefully they remake the prequels first, and it doesn't directly contradict anything from the actual original and sequel trilogies, so I can be an absolute snot about finally having a canon of nine watchable Star War movies.

They should make an animated remake. That would be cool. No point in doing a live action remake.

They're not gonna reboot it lol. Star Wars fans are a fickle bunch and despite whining about the sequels, they're still gonna find a reason to lose their shit.

I think at best, we start getting non-canon stories like Visions

But really I think the best call for Disney is to just do more stories in a completely removed time period from the movies so they can still flesh out the universe, but don't have to worry about the baggage of the Skywalker Saga

What the remake needs are intrusive plot ghosts trying to keep the story the same, thus making the events progress super inorganically, and culminate in a final fight against the plot ghosts to defy fate.

Episode 1 can end with an alternate dimension cut of Qui Gon Jinn surviving against and beating Darth Maul cause Luke and Co. defeated the plot ghosts, with a final shot of Jinn and Obi flying to Coruscant.

Oh, and lets have Vader show up every seven seconds cause why not

"Plot and lore" is a pretty miniscule part of filmmaking. Unless you were going to just make it a 1:1 remake a reuse the old script without any additions or changes (which you probably wouldn't do) then you'd have to write the thing, which would probably go through several drafts, have to be broken down multiple times so all the department heads need to know what they need to start working on or at the very least get a ballpark on what the production will need.

Then you'd have to

Actually film the damn thing, which is going to take at least several months/a year of preproduction. Building sets, sourcing wardrobe, props, securing locations, if you have practical effects you'd need to make accommodations for that. Then you're casting actors, negotiating contracts, hiring crew, dealing with various unions and guilds.

Then you start actually filming the thing, which depending on the complexity can take anywhere from several weeks to several months. During that time you're coordinating food and drinks for your crew daily (and coordinating lodging if you're filming on location somewhere that requires it), making accommodations for actors and other talent. In the meantime the director and production heads are in constant communication with each other and the studio/producers. The director at this point also starts preparing for post production which is its own unique hell.

When you're done filming then you're in post, which, again depending on the complexity of the project, could last another several months and involve legions of CGI artists, color graders, sound techs, and a web of assistants under the editor. You also gotta pay someone to score the damn thing.

Then this whole time you're negotiating with theater chains, distributors, firing up marketing, and paying out your talent.

Remakes aren't any easier to make than any other film. They're attractive because they have a built in audience, which Star Wars already has anyway. And the things you say would make the production "easy" are the most insignificant parts of actual movie making.
