Eh, all of my younger relatives and neighbors who went to public school are both dumber and poorly socially adjusted than the ones who attended private schools. Christian school included. Public schools allow children to actually refuse to learn and refuse testing, so it's like a daycare now. They are not learning anything.

You can get by without a car for a bit while saving. Public transportation, getting a ride from family or friends or co workers, Uber, etc.

As many people have pointed out, public transport, even Uber, depends on where you live (Atlanta's public transportation doesn't fully extend into the suburbs). RE family/coworkers - how long are you going to be asking them for rides? Are you going to pay them for gas/wear and trear?

It also might take a while but you can also save for a house while renting or crashing a room in someone elses house. Kind of like what the new immigrants do. Work your ass off nonstop, save for 7-10 years, then buy a house from there.

Average price of a house in the US is 400K - so you would have to save 40k per year for 10 years. IF you make 20/hour and don't spend a dime on anything it might work. Are you saying that's feasible?

As for business, yeah you definitely shouldnt start one without having all the capital upfront because if the business fails. your credit will tank if you cant pay back a business loan.

Again, some things don't or even help your credit - taking a loan for business and regular repayment is one of them.

Look you started this thread by asking "Why would anyone would take out student loans?", and now you are asking "Why would anybody take out loans?" You realize that keeping a good credit score isn't the only thing people worry about, don't you? And while people might worry about losing their job, that can't be ONLY thing people worry about, right?

Generally, no. However, Trump demanded that the warrant be unsealed, so we know what the investigation is about. This stuff would typically be kept under wraps while the investigation is going on, at least until charges have been filed.

Along with that, we got a list of what the FBI took from Maralago. It included a bunch of classified documents that Trump wasn't supposed to have.

We as the general public will absolutely not find out what those classified documents are, but we know for a fact that Trump was illegally keeping classified documents.

Basic timeline:
* National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) asked Trump to give the documents back all through 2021. Trump refused.
* NARA referred the case to the DoJ
* The DoJ subpoenaed Maralago to demand that Trump give the documents back. They went and got some of the documents a few months ago.
* One of Trump's lawyers signed a document declaring, under the penalty of perjury, that they had given all of the documents back.
* NARA said documents were still missing.
* The DoJ subpoenaed security camera footage from the time they went to get the documents and saw that people were moving documents around Maralago to keep them hidden.
* The FBI executed a search warrant to get those documents and recovered ~15 boxes of documents, many of which were marked classified, top secret, and top secret / sensitive compartmented information. TS/SCI is the highest level of secrecy the US has for documents.
* The DoJ, as of today or yesterday, has subpoenaed the security footage again, likely

Because they are still making a profit? As is being discussed here it's not *fixing* rent at a price but controlling the rate it is increased each year...

Also that won't do anything for the supply issue which increased pricing is generally meant to curb. So instead of dealing with high cost now people won't even be able to find a rental.

So by increasing prices you make it less affordable to the average person, correct? That's what you mean by addressing the supply issues? If I misunderstood please explain

If demand continues to grow without supply of available rentals keeping pace its going to become more expensive to rent since demand is larger than the supply to fill that demand. Thats why large metropolitan cities are so expensive to live in. Because a lot of people want to live there and there are only so many places to live.

No I followed that, was asking why *general* supply and demand applied here - the supply side is fixed (there's only so much property within a reasonable distance of a city. Do you have some studies that show this phenomenon to be true in the specific market of rental prices? I pointed out in my post that it *wasn't* the same as say fast food places (or in your example food prices)...

Yes. It has been well studied that rent control only helps the select few that get in on it early, and ends up making the rest of the neighborhood and city worse in the long run. Cambridge Mass had rent control for a long time and eventually got rid of it, it's a bad policy.

Rent control doesn't work, actually it'll only make things far worse. Similar to what damage the moratorium caused.

So if there is NO rent control, it's better for renters/tenants? Why would landlords not continue to increase rent as much as they desire?

Rent controls remove profit motive to actually building and providing more rental properties to the market. It hurts renters, theyre gonna have fewer choices because the market is gonna shrink and quality of housing provided to rent is going to fall.

How are you sure that greater availability will lead to lesser increases? Instead of the new places also increasing rent at high rates? It's not like selling fast food where an almost unlimited number of them can open in a city - there's only so many places (within reasonable distance) to build in a city...

Many do, and even some posters here on CE ("CNN is just as bad!!"), the difference is there is objective data to show Fox has a higher number of falsehoods, more speculative/opinion shows, etc

Whatever man. I grew up in a rich school. We all went muddling. It isn't low class, it is about having a social life, which you never did.

Seriously - our friend group were the upper middle class smart students (went to professional careers etc) and mudding was something we found we enjoyed in the free time of our senior year, especially the logistics (which path would be most challenging but still doable, which car/truck to bring, etc). Oddly we weren't much for drinking either...
