For better or worse, Disney is trying really, really hard to keep 9ts new canon constant.

They aren't going to start altering their established continuity just because some people think they're too big-boy for the cartoons, and want a different story instead.

Every so often I still see topics/tweets/etc. about these "die hard" Star Wars fans wanting to throw X and Y out of the canon because they don't like it.

And I'm like dudes, nobody's stopping you from doing that yourself. It's all fiction. If you want to declare the entire ST non-canon, go for it.

Regardless, I will admit that their existence at least partly alleviates the complaint, but the fact that they're as hidden as they are and there are at least a dozen is still a valid criticism. Something as critical as the ability to upgrade more than one or two weapons, especially when the game gives so many weapons of each type and upgrading is the only way to make them useful, shouldn't be gated behind hidden rewards. That is objectively bad design.

You really need to compartmentalize "a valid criticism" and "objectively bad design".

Did you have this problem with Titanite?

Also I'm not this deep in the meta, but I've heard Ashes of War and Skills can compensate for a need to upgrade weapons up to the max, but I think someone better versed in this than I can speak to it more effectively. So upgrading may not be as "critical" as you're promoting.

I'd agree more with this if these items were placed in the middle of a field with no marking as opposed to within dungeons having beams of light coming off them.

I mean yes, there are a lot of caves, and some require exploration or community involvement to find them, but they're not THAT well hidden.

The means are there to find everything. It's not easy, there's a lot of it, and it won't be done quick, but they're there for you to use.

I will only accept a gaming experience if it's 100% bespoke with no asset reuse.

To be as vague as possible (and because I like this metaphor), just last night I had a big beach party with all my friends and we took out a guy who's basically Ganon from OoT. That's the third of such fights I've toppled.

Next up for me is the path underground that just opened up.

I'm glad I watched this, if for nothing else than the quality and joy in the animation.

Yes I suppose it feels unfair for you having to foot the bill on that, but realize that the alternative is further polluting the planet. That money isn't just a "whatever" fee that goes into the person's pocket. They have to break down what you have and then ship the hazardous elements to someone who can properly take care of it (a Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility), and those people charge fees for their being able to stay in operation doing the waste work.

And you may feel like your contribution is a drop in the bucket and doesn't matter in the end, and that's not completely invalid. You can just either be part of one end or part of the other.

Being someone who works with a lot of hazardous waste I have a perspective on this.

Sorry this happened to you dude. I know you're working through it but it still feels like a violation of yourself. :(

I've never been an especially competitive person. Even when I play games with others, sure it feels good winning, but it's less about the other person and more about my own performance.

Yeah the thing I've learned about Star Wars post-TLJ (well I've learned a LOT of things, but this one's more relevant) is that it's as you said: Star Wars means very specific things to specific people, and that's what's led to the conflict when Star Wars either tries to be something different, or gets mired in being the same.

I don't think I'll ever really know. The words she used were that she wasn't actually into dating, that it had nothing to do with me, and that she still wanted to be friends.

And I don't want to say those reasons aren't valid, but I've heard those words before used as easy outs when the real issue was something else that the person wasn't comfortable revealing. Honestly, though, I have no guess as to what such a reason might be, if it exists.

And it wasn't a case where I could properly see this coming due to attitudes or conflict. Just the week before we were talking about going out for VDay and future travels and what we wanted to do next time we hang out (and she was making suggestions for that). I like to feel that at this point that I'm pretty good at reading when people are upset or unhappy or bored.

So it's a mystery. One that I don't think needs solving because I'm not going to beg or plead or try to artificially extend a relationship if the other person doesn't want to be a part of it.

Yeah I loved the demo so I'm excited to see what comes of it.

That said, I probably won't be playing it for a while. First, I'm still neck-deep in Elden Ring. Second, The Kaito Files DLC for Lost Judgment comes out next week. Third, LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga comes out the week after that. Both LJ and LSW get the guide treatment from me, so I'll be busy for a while.

I feel like there's an unspoken assumption going through this topic that has yet to be addressed.

No. Production-wise, the Solo cliffhanger happened post-Rebels. Which is to say (Rebels SPOILERS) Maul is dead at the end of Rebels, effectively ending his story. Adding Maul to the end of Solo is really an unfair cliffhanger in that regard.
