Most certainly, people should not be exploited. In any situation.

And the incident you refer to in your first message is a serious single case of exploitation. I don't think anyone would argue against that.

But if you want to craft a decent argument indicting the porn industry, that might start with some statistics as well. Link an article you've found or something.

Y'know, don't just think of one incident, paint it as the norm, and then draw conclusions from there.

I've always thought the Chosen One prophecy was dumb and only ever a vehicle to insist on training what was essentially "someone that shouldn't otherwise be trained".

Platinum's milieu is "games that are great that nobody plays", but that latter part is catching up with them. They got very lucky with Nier Automata and it under no ambiguity SAVED the company from going under.

They can't keep just making Bayos, and Wonderful 101s, and Astral Chains that nobody will play despite being fantastic. Sadly it doesn't hold the company together in this capitalist hellscape.

And I don't WANT crummy life service games like Babylon's Fall coming out of Platinum but it's obvious they need something to keep the lights on.

And on the heels of that victory, Preceptor Miriam (the upside-down one) rolled herself off her perch. I'm batting quite well this evening. :D

There are videos of it happening to others. Essentially it bugs out when it teleports and lands out of bounds, and not being able to get back in, rather than softlock the game, it just loses its HP and you get the win.

Fucking sick. The Regal Ancestor Spirit killed itself lol.

Whether one can truly claim Vader is powerful or not in comparison to others, I do respect the efforts made to demonstrate that.

At the end of the day, any guide is only as good as the work the creator is willing to put into it. Text, video, or wiki.

Text is good for searching, listing, and sorting, but has issues with various visual elements.

Video can nail the visual elements no problem, but it requires real dedication to be able break down each element that a person might need help with to make it searchable.

Wiki is, unfortunately, a crapshoot, because it relies on an entire community instead of one person, and ultimately, on that community's commitment to sharing info. Most Souls guides on fextralife are incredibly thorough, for example.

I've dabbled in wiki but ultimately stepped away due to conflicts with others.

You have to waste so much time doing nothing if you don't use an online map and aren't just purely focused on beating the game. The comments on the floor don't help unless you're literally right in front of the hidden thing, which is a shame.

Yeah I get in a habit of putting comments near grace. Of course, that means I wouldn't get applauded because who's going to walk all the way back.

War-Dead Catacomb is no joke. Even running and dodging through, Putrid Tree Spirit is one-shotting me and my boys. ;_;

While I can agree with the idea that a game with dozens of weapon types where you end up settling on a few you end up liking can seem a bit unfocused, at least the options are there, and ultimately resources exist for you to try them all.

And if you're putting in the effort to find all the weapon types, you will undoubtedly stumble over the means to upgrade them in the process.

I think what Jimmy's saying is that if canon is all messed up because of contradictions, what's one more?

Yeah I know. We thought the same of your argument when you made it.

I mean, again this is anecdotal and just me, but one of the things I like to do when I get a new weapon is swing it around a bit to find out if I like the moveset before I decide to commit to upgrading it. If I like the moveset but don't have enough Smithing mats, I can either wait it out or search for the one that requires Sombers.

Honestly I feel like a moveset one's comfortable with can far outpace the damage numbers if you have a style.

I think more specific to this particular example is if in the new LOTR series on Amazon they thought they might have Boromir in it despite it taking place during the Second Age, but then realizing that'd be silly and cutting him, and then a fan of Boromir throwing a fit because he was "denied" Sean Bean acting as Boromir because of some silly thing as narrative canon.

My greater point was that my two weapons were enough to get me through a considerable part of the game. I didn't need eight different weapons. Even then I know it's anecdotal.

Your argument was "no more than one or two" while my situation was "two comfortably with leftovers". A small distinction, but you had no problem twisting it to suit your argument.

Actually I'm of the opinion his use in TCW was pretty lame. Like they didn't know what to do with him. Aimlessly moving between his relationship with his brother and his people, just killing supporting characters to prove he's a threat with no real weight to it, and the fact that he doesn't really have a relationship with Kenobi. Kenobi just considers him one of several villains of the week he has to deal with. Then he gets involved with the Mandalorian conflict for reasons, and then wins. And then what? Rebels used him better but that builds off the existing TCW lameness. Still, it gave me my favorite lightsaber fight in the entire mythos.

Which brings me the point where I don't think you know what there is to be done with Maul either.

Well all I know is that bouncing between two weapons I had more than enough regular Smithing at the halfway point (maybe? I'm hoping I'm halfway?) to upgrade both of them to the teens. Got most of the material from mines, which are marked on the map.

If you're complaining that it's not happening fast enough for you, or that you feel you have to fully upgrade six different weapons, then I don't know what to tell you.

Except it's not objective bad game design and you're starting to sound a little tantrumy.

It's just not.

You don't like it and that's fine, but the game presents you with the means and the opportunity. Your only inhibitor is your own impatience.

Pointing out objectively bad design is valid criticism. That doesn't mean every valid criticism stems from objectively bad design.

It's just pretty obvious that you keep calling it "bad game design" out of some desire to be "right" or to have your criticism carry more weight.

This stuff isn't "hidden" any more or less than anything else in this game. 80% of stuff in the game is "hidden", by your standards.

To add to that, I was rocking both an Uchigatana and a Nightrider's Flail, both of which require Smithings, and I'm able to get them up to the teens with what I have right now without any real grinding, just normal exploration.

If you want to do like five or six regular weapons, that might be more difficult.
