Only negative review, yet it trumps 30 games on the list. Must have been some specific aspect of the game that annoyed or disappointed you. Or you just spent a lot of time with it and got sick of its crap, like I did with Fallout 4.

I'd pick option 1 in a heartbeat if I had the ability to actually change anything. But I also believe in a certain view of causality that suggests everything would happen precisely as it was -- if nothing is changed, nothing will change. So what's the point? I lived it once. Why relive it?

Like randomizers?? I've watched a lot of streams with them, I do enjoy watching. I struggle with the real path through the game, though, and randomizers seem like they make it even harder, usually?

I legitimately never played LTTP before discovering the randomizer for it. If you've watched other people playing, and know the game, you can definitely complete one. It might path you in an unexpected way, but they're always finishable.

They are, at least temporarily, gone it seems.

edit: never mind. OP has one again. I thought they had been deactivated or something. They are, however, the last thing on the page to load, so sometimes they go unnoticed at first on shorter pages.

HOWEVER. Somehow, I have a lot of complaints that bring it down the list. I...don't really like the overworld (feels smol to me, yet still annoying to traverse), the dungeons (kinda annoying), the adventure (I get stuck a lot), the secrets (the useful ones are very hard to find IMO), and don't like the rewards and items that much, besides the sword and boomerang.

So basically, a little too much of a cryptic adventure, not quite enough action, for my taste. (Yet STILL gets onto the list, because it's still that good!!)

BEST LEVEL: Hell. It's so euphoric to get there, after SO MANY levels of tech bases. But yeah, they also did a great job on it.

My friend and I played this co-op, and when we got to hell and all our equipment was taken -- when ammo hadn't exactly been plentiful before -- we were struggling. I picked up a chainsaw, looked at him, and said, let's go. I then proceeded to charge in like crazy, sawing anything up that I could get near, which is not at all how I play FPS games. I'm more of the cautious, slow approach type. He struggled to keep up, and somehow I managed to survive through it.

The PS trophies cut out a lot of Xbox achievements. Like I think it draws from the same pool but is only about 1/3rd of them.

Is this true across most games, or just HK?

Because uhhh, some of the achievements are "beat the game in less than 5 hours" and "100% the game in Steel Soul mode" (dying once = erasing your save file). I have 130 hours in this game between my two save files, and there's no way I'll ever get all the achievements

I've done them both, and I've never even attempted Godhome. If you've beaten the game once, you can beat the game quickly. I'll share my route if you need.

Just played through HK last night. Did a 100% speedrun. Not world class time, but it was all in one sitting. Can't be bothered to 112% the game since I don't enjoy bludgeoning my head on "optional" bosses -- to the extent that I haven't even finished the true ending. Any game that expects me to do so needs to remove the wind-up time to reach said boss, and needing to beat THK first every time definitely is not that.

One of the things that's crazy about Hollow Knight is how Team Cherry absolutely refuses to hold your hand at all, and yet it works. Most of the time when I attempt a game that doesn't give you indication where to go, I just find it frustrating and aimless. (Hi, La-Mulana!) The only time I felt that way with HK was in the opening hours before you get the Mantis Claw, which is, ironically, the only quasi-linear part of the game.

Stag stations not being frequent enough is a common complaint, but with the benefit of hindsight, I don't agree. They're enough to get around without being so close to each other they become superfluous, and they aren't the only mode of transportation in the game. It'd be nice to have a station in Crystal Peak or Kingdom's Edge, but I don't think more than that would enhance the gameplay.

Chances are, you know exactly what you need to do.

This is tricky to evaluate because I liked the game in a general sense until it wound up just going nowhere. The moment-to-moment writing is where NitW excels, but it's also the reason I ultimately put the game down. (That and the stupid dream sequences.)

I'm going to label those components a matter of gameplay rather than story, even though the two are actually linked inextricably, because the MC is a lot of fun when she's not frustratingly breaking social norms.

It would have been amazing watching Minesweeper run through games like Chrono Trigger in an L-block-ish blaze of glory, but alas.

I'm still voting for it.

I don't necessarily expect this to count, but I was listening to the playlist last minute and thought the second song in the third match was Remember Me, which made it hard for me to make a quick decision. I prefer To the Heart over Jungle Joyride.

I didn't mean the quantity. I was referencing the distribution. The degree to which they went through just enough to eliminate the track they wanted.

I thought Farewell edition was just their way of saying they were done adding content.

I hit the cap yesterday, but I had enough 3- and 4-star to whack it back down. Gonna be bouncing off it repeatedly over the next few weeks, though.

Maybe I'll actually try playing this game finally.
